Fantastic tutorial for a real novice. I've always found WordPress really intimidating but this helped tremendously. One thing that I noticed - towards the end of the video you mentioned adding icons linking to different categories of posts above the call to action but when I went to find them, they weren't installed already. I have a recent install of this theme (Jan 20, 2016) and I solved this problem by adding a widget - WP SVG Icons. They are the same set (it would seem) that you had on your video. Just a heads up for anyone that gets stuck at that point in the video. Thank you again, James, for your continued effort with these videos - I'm looking forward to watching more!
This is the best instructional video on website creation that I've ever seen and I've seen a bunch. I have to recreate my personal site and was dreading it since it took me nearly 2 weeks to create it the first time. I don't see the recreation taking as long this time using this video as a guide. The video is very professionally made. I know how daunting that task can be. If anyone reading this is not following James, you are doing yourself and your business a disservice.

Just started watching, and I think your presentation and organization are great - I think it would be useful to index your video to find various bits of content more quickly (which could be made to easily go along with the various steps you've already defined). The easiest way may be to do so in the description with hyperlinks to timestamp of the individual topics. Just a thought. Cheers!

I did the portfolio type and up loaded pictures individually, everything works except when I go to view the page after updating the individual picture it shows title and write up but no picture. I redid the steps several times. My pictures are under 2000 x 2000. I even tried putting in smaller pics. No luck. It shows a small broken circle like it is trying to upload. Have any suggestions? Also, I noticed you had extra features on your menu when you wanted to change a heading sizeast etc. Is that a plug in you use. Because that feature does not come with pinnacle. Thanks, Lynne

At 17:25 You explained WP Super Cache. I did not find it already installed. So I went searching for it under plugin tab> Add New > Search. Found it. Should I just download it from there? I also found WP Super Cache - Clear all cache Plugin. should I just leave that one alone?

Great video James! A LOT TO TAKE IN!!! Especially for someone who hadn't even heard of WordPress until a couple of days ago! Can i suggest one possible improvement? You seem to explain how to do something, and then show it on the website. However, in my opinion, it would be better if you showed what you were going to achieve first (e.g. "here's the footer we would like to build"), and then show how to do it. Just a thought. Anyhow, will be watching all your videos.

Thanks for a great tutorial. Have watched it at least 3 times and have subscribed. I'm used to hand coding sites in html which is fine for my driving school web site where I'm only competing with other driving instructors in my area, but for my next venture I need to appeal to people world wide. Not selling anything as yet but hoping to drive people to my UA-cam channel and may be using some affiliate links on my blog. But will have actual products to sell in the near future. I did follow your tutorial using Pinnacle but have gone back now to using Artisteer to create my own theme. My UA-cam channel is all about crafts and design and I have more control using Artisteer. I am now finding plugins and other ways of achieving everything of importance to me that is included in Pinnacle. A question I have for you though is to ask if it's okay for SEO and marketing to have a static homepage, which you seem to have, with the blog on another page? I will be looking to import the latest posts to the homepage but would prefer to have it more as a web site with a blog, as yours seems to be, than just a lone blog. And I love the idea of the three links on the homepage that I could edit as I wanted to drive people to where I would most like them to go. So if I'm using SEO by Yoast effectively, does it make any difference whether the posts page is the front page or not? A friend of mine seems to think it does. +A Ja Go Thank You! I am not really sure i follow your question exactly.. The piece of code i show in the video allows for a customized size for a very large Header! When you use this it will not adjust the size for the sub header.. So I would use the default settings to ensure everything is centered and flows well...

+Pat Love - GodsIn2love Its depends.. some themes are different in terms of functionality.. you can try it and go back to the Pinnacle theme.. It wont erase you content though switching themes..

+Fabiana Hidalgo Thank you! You should just be able to enter in the embed code anywhere in the post or page.... Make sure you the editor or edit mode and you should be good to go.. Also you can adjust the size on UA-cam to fit your needs on the post..

I did the portfolio type and up loaded pictures individually, everything works except when I go to view the page after updating the individual picture it shows title and write up but no picture. I redid the steps several times. My pictures are under 2000 x 2000. I even tried putting in smaller pics. No luck. It shows a small broken circle like it is trying to upload. Have any suggestions? Also, I noticed you had extra features on your menu when you wanted to change a heading sizeast etc. Is that a plug in you use. Because that feature does not come with pinnacle. Thanks, Lynne

James, I have followed you and your past videos regarding website development. At 17:25 You explained WP Super Cache. I did not find it already installed. So I went searching for it under plugin tab> Add New > Search. Found it. Should I just download it from there? I also found WP Super Cache - Clear all cache Plugin. should I just leave that one alone?

Great video James! A LOT TO TAKE IN!!! Especially for someone who hadn't even heard of WordPress until a couple of days ago!
Can i suggest one possible improvement? You seem to explain how to do something, and then show it on the website. However, in my opinion, it would be better if you showed what you were going to achieve first (e.g. "here's the footer we would like to build"), and then show how to do it.
Just a thought.
Anyhow, will be watching all your videos.

Thanks for a great tutorial. Have watched it at least 3 times and have subscribed. I'm used to hand coding sites in html which is fine for my driving school web site where I'm only competing with other driving instructors in my area, but for my next venture I need to appeal to people world wide. Not selling anything as yet but hoping to drive people to my UA-cam channel and may be using some affiliate links on my blog. But will have actual products to sell in the near future.
I did follow your tutorial using Pinnacle but have gone back now to using Artisteer to create my own theme. My UA-cam channel is all about crafts and design and I have more control using Artisteer. I am now finding plugins and other ways of achieving everything of importance to me that is included in Pinnacle.
A question I have for you though is to ask if it's okay for SEO and marketing to have a static homepage, which you seem to have, with the blog on another page?
I will be looking to import the latest posts to the homepage but would prefer to have it more as a web site with a blog, as yours seems to be, than just a lone blog.
And I love the idea of the three links on the homepage that I could edit as I wanted to drive people to where I would most like them to go.
So if I'm using SEO by Yoast effectively, does it make any difference whether the posts page is the front page or not?
A friend of mine seems to think it does.

+A Ja Go Thank You! I am not really sure i follow your question exactly.. The piece of code i show in the video allows for a customized size for a very large Header! When you use this it will not adjust the size for the sub header.. So I would use the default settings to ensure everything is centered and flows well...

+Pat Love - GodsIn2love Its depends.. some themes are different in terms of functionality.. you can try it and go back to the Pinnacle theme.. It wont erase you content though switching themes..

When I select the video button in the Post page, nothing pops up regarding where I'm supposed to place my UA-cam video link. Could you help me with that? I can't figure it out :(
+Fabiana Hidalgo Thank you! You should just be able to enter in the embed code anywhere in the post or page.... Make sure you the editor or edit mode and you should be good to go.. Also you can adjust the size on UA-cam to fit your needs on the post..
