Arizona 🌵 Solar Electric Bike Tour 2024 Day 1
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 сер 2024
- Join me, Eric Tennant, on an exciting solar bike tour adventure! 🚴♂️ I’m out here with my solar trailer, panels perched atop a burly, and my friend @Jarrod_D on his gas-powered “g-bike.” Jarrod has been riding from Florida all the way to Arizona-currently sitting in the Grand Canyon State. 🌵
🌞 The weather is a pleasant 70°F (21°C), and we’re following a scenic canal route through Phoenix. Expect a mix of trails, city roads, interstates, and some dirt paths. Camping away from the roads is our preference, so we’ll find the perfect spots along the way.
🏞️ Our journey takes us past cool landmarks like the old Metro Center mall (now defunct) and a pyramid atop Papago Park. Did you know the first Arizona governor rests in that pyramid? 🗿
🎣 Don’t miss the solar ebike trailer update: My 200-watt panel is pulling in a solid 150-152 watts, even without a tilt toward the sun.
🌊 At a picturesque waterfall in the park, we soak in the beauty of the desert rocks. Sadly, graffiti has led to chain link fences protecting these natural wonders.
Join us as we pedal onward, capturing the essence of this incredible journey! 🌟

Thanks Eric. It is nice to see this trip from a different perspective. 😎👍
Thanks for watching. Day 2 this Sunday.
@@Eric_Tennant Ok cool thanks Eric 😎👍
Eric & Mr D a Motley looking Crue 😎
Nice!
My dream is to take my ebike across this country. Can you imagine doing it with these two? I love both these channels. This is honestly fantastic! I actually needed out and got excited when I saw the preview.
Great video! RUGER
Thanks 👍
Thanks Eric, Enjoyed!
Thank you Eric, not only was amazing, but your caliber as a person shows.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I enjoyed it Eric
Hello Eric: Thank you for this nice video! You go a lot of times far, like a 100 miles a day. Have you ever had problems with your motor Bafang BBSHD? Jarrod's "G-Bike" is great. With gas? Why is it so silent? Which motorkit is that? Where to buy? How fast and far can he drive? How big is the tank?
Awesome trip. I wish I could use the gas bikes, but I got warned already, but I can say I'm green and green :)
Why is that did someone say it's not legal what town
@@carolmaplesden916 I'm in Ontario Canada, there not legal here. I used them for about 2 years and then got stopped by the police.
Thanks!
You bet!
Looks like fun, your fun to watch with all the green breaks, how long does your friends rear tire last, with the electric motor.
@@bobwallace530 My friends @Jarrod_D motor is gas. I think his tires were lasting around 2k miles with the roller. On this trip however it killed 2 wheels and 3 derailleurs. Think all these problems were because his derailleur hanger was not true. Day 2 shows his 2nd wheel give out about 19mi from a room.
Like your style eric long form chilled videos, i just play the vid and enjoy your commentary and slight craziness:).
I appreciate your sense of adventure and getting to see America and the huge open spaces (the Uk is very green but quite congested in many areas)
Take care safe travels and i look forward to more adventures :)
On x off-road is worth every penny.
Hi Eric, thanks for the videos! There is a product for your tires that is long lasting and harmless (unlike Slime), it is called Flat Out. You can get it installed at Electric Bikes of Arizona in Peoria. It seals holes like a handful of dirt in a sink drain. Like magic! I run it in all my bikes and trailers. Take care, safe and happy riding!
I'll check it out!
I'm new to your channel but I subscribed your videos are awesome.
Thanks for subbing
heh steak fajita burritos after almost 100miles is the cherry. So cool! I dunno if I have it in me to do that many miles I would imagine you are literally exhausted by the end of that even if you used throttle only I know I would be lol. You must have a GREAT bike seat lol
That is why I use a Trangia cook set. Yes, it is a tad bulky, but its very stable, and you can use your own pans. Plus the Trangia is so quiet.
Yes, both the alcohol and gas burners - have a -27 set, for travel and at-home power outages.
So what kind of set up did you use to scale up your solar panel to provide 48 Volts?
ua-cam.com/video/5_4ZSG3pK7o/v-deo.html
A couple years ago I was wondering if a large solar panel would produce enough Electricity to power an e bike. Thanks for answering my question.
Green break has to be code for something I won't out you on :P
If I got it right, your bike is just a bafang mid drive with no battery?
Yea BBSHD ( www.amazon.com/shop/erictennant/list/1QZIL3Q2SFG6F?ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ons_mixed_d ). In this setup all 3 batteries are in the trailer, and none on the bike. Was happy to put my water bottle back where it belongs.
100 miles is nutz for a fellow stoner fo sho :)
I broke my distance record on day 3.
There are 2 types of dogs. One likes to chase frisbees and jump and shit. The other likes to ride in cars with their head out the window licking air. I’m the latter.
Work smarter not harder.
GGs!
Smoke pot and ride bikes….reminds me of middle school…I’m kinda jealous 🙁
😅
Can that trailer handle about 150lbs? Thinking about 100 ah battery that’s 85 lbs
I wish someone would do a video on this. The trailer, rims, tires and a big ass battery for long distance. It looks like the blue shrink wrap battery's are cheaper than the Home solar battery type. Not that cost is an issue for you.. Or maybe it is.
Not sure of its true limits. They have a tag on it that say 55 pounds; however with my gear, 55ah@48v battery, and solar panel I know I'm over that 55 pound limit by a bit.
@@Eric_Tennant I found a ridiculously large battery 😆
11:59 we call that a safety meeting where I'm from
Correction… nerded
Strange thing is that I need 350+ watts to manage 14-19 miles an hour….
Thanks!
No problem!
