So my hair are medium density and a little curly.( I have straight hair from roots and they curl at the ends) I have breast length hair. So the quantity and quality of the Reetha, Shikekai, Amla you use is also very important. I use powder form and I don't boil them in water but I do put them in hot water for soaking. Proud to say that I've been using the same shampooing technique for 2 years now, I can say that my hair which had a brownish shade is all black and thick now, and the conditioning this shampoo does is amazing. Definitely the best for people with thinner hair or hair fall issues, which in my case I have hypothyroidism and thin hair(used to have, but it's definitely better now)and I swear by this shampoo my whole life. Bit time and effort consuming but definitely gives you positive result overtime with consistent use.

Recently I have seen that my hair has been thinning. I've tried some natural remedies but have seen little change. I will buy all these ingredients and try this out. I remember going to India and saw a lot of women having beautiful long hair! I really admire their culture and for all the amazing herbs and natural remedies that they have. EDIT: SO ... after so long and procrastinating on getting the ingredients I finally made it and will try to update in the next 2 weeks on my experience. My hair has been thinning even more for some reason. So Im ready to start and see a natural difference in my hair :)
Herbal Shampoo: 7-8 pieces Shikakai 7-8 Areetha (without seeds) Handful of Amla 1-2 tbsp Methi seeds Soak overnight in 3 cups of water. Cook it to a boil, then simmer for 10 mins. Cool. Mash herbs with hands and strain through nut bag. Put in a squeeze bottle. Can be used upto a week in a fridge. Apply shampoo to dry scalp and hair. Massage that in leave it on hair for 3-5 mins. Wash off with water.
I have used this for months now. This works! My hair is touching my bottom now! Even if one just uses The soap nuts and water alone it works. Boil it for 15-20min let cool and use---non stripping. Love it
To all those who doubt if it works I would say this method is a tried and tested one for ages in India. If you are the one who loves everything clean and organic. Give this a try! Soapnuts need to be slightly less in quantity than Shikakai as it can be a bit drying. It may take a little getting used to initially as it doesn't lather much like store bought shampoos. You need to wash twice if you oil your hair before wash. But the result will be clean and lustrous looking hair for sure.
Now I can see many proud Indians in the comment section. I always thought why this never came up in your channel and finally you did. I’m always thankful for your wonderful channel , the info you’ve shared so far on this channel were much needed and have changed my life.
I have been using these things since 2 months and it truly worked for me....i dried em first and powdered them...i only used shikakai, reetha and amla powder, put 2 tablespoons of each in water and boil them for 15 minutes...let it cool down and apply it to you scalp. Let it rest for 30 to 60 mins and wash out....you can also filter the mixture....my hairs used to fall alot but after using this they stopped falling....
I’m a South Indian.very happy to see our very traditional cleaning natural ingredients being used by you..I still use them for cleaning my hair..Normally all the ingredients are sun dried and powdered..whenever I wash,I make a paste of it with water and wash it..no need for conditioning. The ingredients for making the powder are shikakai,Dried amla,Fenugreek, green gram .reetha, few dried hibiscus flowers, dried henna leaves, dried rose petals, some dried neem leaves and dried lemon ,orange peels.(a few more thing)..we make it once a year(has to be taken to a grinding mill) and store it.
Ur hair must be amazing❤ approximately for how many days shd we dry all of the herbs ? Can dry in direct sunlight ? Can u tell how much quantity of each herb we need ?
The first time I used it, I couldn't believe how good the result was. My hair was voluminous, clean, soft !!! I didn't tell anyone cause MI Familia likes store-bought shampoos with sls and stuff. So happy I saw your video!

Let me start off by saying how healthy and gorgeous your hair looks. It's beautiful. And you take such wonderful care of it. Thank you for explaining all of it so wonderfully. In my family, we have been using these powders for as long as I can remember. It has been passed down for generations in our house. Another thing we use along with all those you have mentioned, especially for children, since shikakhai can be quite unforgiving on the eye, is skip it altogether and use the leaves or powder of a tree called albizia amara. It's like the soap nut and very gooey but doesn't sting at all. We also add fresh or powdered curry leaves and hibiscus. It might sound like it's a lot, but we get fresh ingredients, dry them during summer and powder them to last a few months.

This recipe is for oily to normal scalp people like me. If you have a dry scalp please don't use it. I can say that the method you mentioned are absolutely perfect, am from India....I don't use bottled store bought shampoo or conditioner but rather make my own at home, it's a bit of hardwork but it's worth it guys ....it's not like I've been using it from childhood, I really had good hair while in school then in college my hair got real bad, bcoz I didn't care enough, also started using shampoo and conditioner which I thought were doing good but it was not, it got so frizzy and dry, also so much hairfall....then I tried to stay away from these chemicals loaded shampoo for a long time....then started making these shampoo at home..... let me tell you guys I have been using this natural methods since like almost 4 yrs and hairfall has reduced and it's gentle andd doesn't wash away the good oils from the scalp, you don't even need conditioner atleast I don't use it.... sometimes u feel dry then may be just a pump or two of oil at the hairtips and just leave it like that it will get absorbed and condition your hair well, also one good thing is I have never ever used dryer or blower to dry my hair, it was always air drying, here in India most of us do air drying only and hair is very much sensitive to heat so no heat goes into hair.....I just love how people are starting to recognise the methods we have in our country since ages and transitioning to this method was the best I made for my hair. Have a good hair day 😉

You are so not kidding me I've been looking this for soooooooooooooooooooo long and the notification just popped up thank you so much sarah love you 😘♥️♥️💕
I started using the powders about 6 months ago because of hair fall. It is amazing! But I do it a little differently. I purchased cotton muslin bags, put the powder in the bag and then add the boiling water. I let it steep overnight and then squeeze the bag to get as much liquid out as possible without getting the powder. I then thicken the liquid with xanthan gum so it applies more like a shampoo and doesn’t just run off my head. My hair is medium length but very fine and I found that if I didn’t thicken it, it just ran off. After I apply the thickened liquid, I cover my hair with a shower cap and let it sit for 10-15 minutes and then rinse off. It is amazing how clean my hair feels! The hair fall has been greatly reduced to maybe less than a quarter of what it had been. My hair seems slightly thicker and it has gradually gotten darker. I am never going back to shampoo again!
A great tip - don't throw away the residue. One just needs to remove seeds if any, and then grind the residue (add some water if required) and use that paste as well. It's just same / even better than using plain boiled water
If you want it raw, you could try crushing/grinding it with a mortar and pestle to get it really concentrated, and strain through a nut milk bag. It would capture much more of the compounds in the ingredients.
Thank you for this lovely video and your wonderful presentation! How delighted I am as an Indian to see you use these ancient Ayurvedic herbs to wash your hair. Though I was raised around these, I found myself instead using a whole lot of bottled products with fancy labels. Now after suffering hair damage from anti frizz chemically filled products and counter shampoos with impressive labels that did no good, I’ve turned back to all of these herbs and also add neem and hibiscus flowers to this diy shampoo. I use the powders not seeds. Hope this restores my hair to the long thick hair I had. I’m sure it takes patience and time. Your cascade of hair is truly beautiful. I hope this shampoo made a big difference to you. 🙏🏾❤️🌹

Exactly! People are going to spend so much money on the products she uses thinking they’re going to get long thick hair like that. I’m sure the products are probably healthier for the general population but you won’t magically get long thick hair like hers. It’s all genetics and very small percentage is good haircare.
@@roo_13 what if I used to have tall and thick hair and I cut it and it never grow back, does that mean it's genetic or what😂 And I guess most girls watching this regretting cutting their hair and want to grew it back
The problem more people have is thinking that their hairfall and hair quality is FROM genetics...when propably around 80% have just some bad hair practices (shampoo and conditioner type, towelling, styling products etc) , stress or has a deficiency. If you correct it, you'll see immense changes in your hair. But people think '"it's genetics, I won't have hair that looks beautiful cause I'm unlucky". While genetics plays a big role , the environment you put your hair is also is just as important. You can't have majority of the female population having hair shedding and thinning, if genetic disorders aren't that common (e.g 3% of population). Know your body's current state by figuring out what it lacks or is high in.. (get a blood test- hormones ? Deficiency? ) is a good way to start. If the results of the test is good, Your doctor THEN looks at female pattern baldness or other kinds of genetic considerations.
After losing my pregnancy, I've been kinda obsessive with eliminating chemicals and toxins in my home to avoid it happening again. I've been looking for a homemade shampoo/conditioner that isn't crazy hard to make or too expensive and I really want to try this recipe out

I make this herbal shampoo for my hair love it. I can't use anything else on my hair other store bought shampoo makes my hair itch. Thanks for this reciepe love it❤
I am from India and this recipe works wonders on the hair. Thanks for posting this. 🥰
I've been wanting to make this but I don't find the whole herbs in the US. I find the powders in the Indian stores though but I too prefer using the whole herbs!
Amazon has all these powders or nuts!!
Does it remove oil
@@thankyouforeverything6250 That's the downside of this natural shampoo. This wouldn't help in getting rid of heavy oils on your hair because it's not a harsh surfactant. But like she said in the video you can first rinse out the oils with a bit of your regular shampoo and then use this to help with hair fall issues, dandruff etc.
@@Logicmatters582 👍
padmini krishnan that sounds like a plus for me 😁 I’ve been using water only for my hair and don’t want to remove oils, just have a healthy scalp and hair. I definitely want to try this!
Even I used have hair just like her straight bouncy and little wavy when I was in 7th standard . I never have split ends because of thick hair,my braids looks thicker then but as a teen I didn't take a good hair care and now I'll starting loosing my thick hair and it's not re growing.now I start to losing my confidence but honestly you'll have to a good genes if you want her's type of hair .
Girl I used to watch you all the time, you’re the reason I bought a wooden brush and seep with protective hairstyles 🤍 I want to do this sooo bad and I want to follow your skincare routine !!
Awesome I'm from India, careful using the amla, shikakai and reetha, be sure to never get it into your eyes, you could end up in the emergency room (ER) if you do, Sometimes I use the amla shikakai reetha mask using the powders like this too along with the Ayur amla shikakai reetha shampoo but not in the same hair session at home just be sure to cover your eyes with a dry clean towel while rinsing don't get this combination in your eyes you could go blind throws the ph balance of your eyes off I've never gotten it into my eyes before I flip over and dip my hair in a tub full of water in bath tub to rinse then continue rinsing in shower 🚿
Thank God I belong to eastern country. These ingredients are easily available. Gonna try this today.😍 love from Pakistan.🇵🇰
You can use conditioner for the paste. I always add 2 tbl into the paste and you'll have a gloss. I just add in henna or cassia and it's easy to rinse out and leaves no mess :) Soothing and beautiful video as always
Can you do a whole Video on how to cut split ends Because I’m still confused on what they even are and how to cut😩?
Like so she sees😁
Perfect timing! I just bought fenugreek powder and Amla powder 💕
❤❤I have been using this shampoo for over 3 Years and i love it ; I love it so much that i make it for myself and store it for purchase . My experience has been great although the video say's to use the calia conditioner but i don't use any conditioner because my hair tends to soften at the root's and fall i may use a tiny amount only on the end of my hair . Also i clip my ends every 3 mts this also will help with steonger hair strands . I sell this to all my co-workers and they love it . ❤❤
Wow...it's a very nice video. I am an Indian and I just love the fact that people from different countries also trying these things . Nice video .😊
Genetics is the most important factor forgotten by everyone
Exactly! People are going to spend so much money on the products she uses thinking they’re going to get long thick hair like that. I’m sure the products are probably healthier for the general population but you won’t magically get long thick hair like hers. It’s all genetics and very small percentage is good haircare.
@@roo_13 yes BT I will strengthen ur hair which will cause less hairfall
@@roo_13 what if I used to have tall and thick hair and I cut it and it never grow back, does that mean it's genetic or what😂
And I guess most girls watching this regretting cutting their hair and want to grew it back
@@xxa5403 so true
I've been looking for a homemade shampoo/conditioner that isn't crazy hard to make or too expensive and I really want to try this recipe out
That's great! I find that exercise helped me a lot. Organic food as well. No sugar. It's like the reason behind any health problems I had
Love 'home remedies' and natural ways to treat the body, mind and spirit! Thanks for that. I would also love to see what you usually eat? You speak often of the gut-mind connection and i completely agree and i am trying to work on that myself but would love to get some inspirations from you. Thanks a lot Sarah. Hope you are your loved ones are well. Take care. Love. Z.
I am from India and i feel so proud that people outside india are using the remedies suggested by our ancestors 😍😍❤❤
@jessica; too bad this little girl stole your native shampoo recipe from you folks and is now profiting from it!
Do I have been using this shampoo for a few months now and I can see a huge difference in my hair! It is healthier and my scalp feels amazing! Thank you!
your voice make me relaxed it's like meditation every time I want to relax I go see your videos so lovely have you here ✨
And it makes your hair MORE beautiful, Sarah. 😍💓
Thank you so much for sharing this really! I am really happy I could finally make a natural shampoo. I was dreaming of this because my hair got damaged from the unatural shampoos. And thank you for all the explanations. Your channel is very instructive!!
Have you seen a difference after using this?
@@kirannathani9123 Yes I am actually only using these indian powders to rinse my hair: Shikaki, amla, reetha. They naturally keep the narural oils in your hair, especially if you have dry hair, while cleaning your scalp. Totally recommend!
@@kirannathani9123 If you find them drying, add a little bit of any essential oil you like to the shampoo. It will leave your scalp clean and your hair soft. You can accompany this with doing a hair treatment once a week. It can be massaging your scalp with one or mix of an essential oil and hair overnight( cover it with something). And herbal treatments like henna..etc. You will a huge change in the health of your hair!
@@eurusirius what proportion do u take of each ingredient?and pls press the like button under my comment so that I get a notification,👍🏻🤗
I am Indian I would like to worship our ayurvedic ❤️scriptures and these all ingredients are easily available in my India ❤️
I made this by another trick .
I grind those shikakai reetha and amla in the mixie and boil them in water and also one another ingredient which is flax seeds powder and let that mixture thick .
And after that I squeeze that mixture in cloth and I get my pure natural shampoo 💗
Could you pls do an updated plant collection I really enjoy your plants❤️😊😌

Do you have a crush on her?
Oh my god. We in India have forgotten about our roots. My mother used to make this shampoo when I was younger and I literally had the best hair ever. We slowly switched to packaged shampoo but my mother didn't and her hair are healthier than mine at this age. Have to try this again
Can u gv the measurement of each herb ?
@@kirannathani9123 she just used to take 5-6 dried shikakai and amla. She would soak it overnight and in the morning rub the dried berries together to create foam. And then she would repeatedly wash her hair with that water and foam. Hope that helps
In India we use this remedy since vedic period as ayurvedic remedy thank-you for spreading this ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm.from.Tamil nadu. Our mom applies seeyakai in our childhood. That sometimes mistakenly It gone inside eyes. And it used to sting n pain. Omg. I can't just forget that. As children, we used to hate taking hair wash with seeyakai. 😂🤣
It's really shocking that Indian remedies are used by foreigners..... proud to be an Indian
@@theroad4708 you might have used something that is lost and you cant use it now, so stop getting jealous . India still has them .
@@theroad4708 Uhhh... this person didn't say anything about other countries not having their own natural remedies, or Indians being better than anyone else, they just said they didn't realise other people used things from their own country. Of course India isn't the only country to have such things, but they are one of the very few countries which kept these beautiful traditions alive. If it bothers you so much than use something by a different country. It really doesn't matter.
@@theroad4708 actually, in eurpoe they didn't care much for personal hygiene back in the time.
@Lucy Rane Tbh most Indian just use chemical shampoo nowdays
@@theroad4708 just research from where Europeans brought the concept of shampooing :)
Everything was amazing about this video. The music and scenery were lovely as was your hair. The explanations were perfect and thanks for showing how to make it with the powders as those whole ingredients are hard to find. I usually put a lot of oil in my hair but I'm interested in trying this anyways. Thanks for sharing!!!
Hibiscus flower is added to the shikakai reetha alma mix before grinding it down. It gives the red colour and a BEAUTUFUL perfume. But it's boiled 1st then sat overnight and added befire processing into paste.
I just bought an Ayurvedic shampoo with all natural ingredients from an Indian shop! Today was my first day using it and it was lovely! I incorporate these powders into my conditioners and I use the fenugreek seeds in my spray bottle ( I boil it like tea)
And my hair has been thriving!
I will try this recipe once I run out of shampoo ^^
