      Exactly, I had a 90 FXRS and 94 FXLR, both new bikes, you sit down in an FXR, the DYNA always felt like I was sitting on top of the bike, not down in it like the FXR’s.

    The reason the FXR frame is a great frame is the design and engineering behind it…. If you notice the side profile of the bike there’s a triangle that is formed to the frame front of the swing arm…. It is that feature that makes that frame very STRONG and stable. Rock on FXR.😎

    If I did this I'd be probably lost in technical details, the fact I owned it 12 years, etc etc. This dude summed it up so much better in saying taking your bike somewhere no matter what is 100x more fun then a car. At the end of the day that's what really matters.

    I have a blue 85 FXRS Low Glide in Bay Ridge BK 19,000 miles, mostly stock. I am in the middle of changing the trans seals and the sprocket shaft oil seal. Tapered main shaft, finger clutch releases. I keep a spare clutch finger because they have broken on me before. Easy enough fix on the street. Buckhorns, rides nice.

    Oh he's so right about the fastest way to learn something is when the alternative is death! I stopped in Illinois on the FXRP coming back from the flat track races in Iowa, it was your basic interstate strip mall and Walmarts exit for gas. Flat land for miles, while at the gas station the weather turns from warm to cold to hail and the locals go ape shit, running into the gas station for gas and hauling ass out, the station owner locks the door behind me and leaves, it's obvious there's a tornado near by. I don't normally care, I come Midwestern stock where a tornado means drinking beer and standing on the front porch of your trailer looking casual, but I'm on the bike and none of the locals are inviting me to a potential shelter, this was before I had a smart phone or potential weather app. My instincts are to GTFO, but the FXRP starter switch is like "nah bruh"... I never beat on a solenoid so hard. ..obviously I got it going but I literally got home that evening and drilled a hole in the starter relay cover so I could start it with a pencil.
    Great and entertaining interview! I'll have to go back and watch my older Indian Larry footage, I'm fairly certain I captured this FXR on video!
    So much good philosophy captured on film!

    • @FXDLSBrooklyn
      @FXDLSBrooklyn  Рік тому +1

      That is an insane story - Not that I have had anything that intense happen, but this is the reason why I installed the override switch for the solenoid on my DX when we had to replace the starter about a year back

    In the past I had considered parting with my Buell powered sportster having it so long and then seeing sometimes super cheap Dynas coming up in the classifieds but then when I looked into it and especially on seeing those videos of something called the "Dyna death wobble" scared the crap out of me and I still have the same bike for over 20 years now.
    m no expert but I like the look of the FXR cos I like the idea of a bigger engine in the smaller twin shock frames and the soft tails seem very top heavy for what I'm used to and the narrow, windy roads we have here in Eire.
    The FXR seems like a very stable and capable frame, and I like the simplicity of the twin shock design, probably between that and the sportster would be my first choice or Harley frames.

    Any suggestions on what I could do to make it pull in much easier without compressing too much?
