I'm tired of theoretical videos Pallytime. Show us this ZF tanking dungeon instead of tanking 1 mob in Alterac m8. I need to see how you manage in REAL group tanking situations with one mage, warr, hunter, Lock in your group. No more solo tests please.
I'll be posting some this week. Currently level 30 on a tank Paladin on fresh and super experienced. I recently respec'd to Ret for grinding mobs so I'll get back into it in my mid 30s when I can finish my 11/0/17 spec.
This is just one way to tank but it also doesnt show what happens when a mage/lock start blasting. TBH the better way to tank is just ret tank it. Might/wis spam works as fake taunt (just aim at the mob and spam it a few times while swinging, instant casts don't reset swings) and if you save your judges thats another source of threat. Imp ret aura with Righteous fury on also adds threat so it helps with you missing some AOE threat gen. ret you deal more dmg than this fast weapon tank variant, but both have to tag mobs first and you have to educate your group to give you 3 GCDs of time before blasting. You can dive to seal of command and then go for consecrate. always bring nades, the highest dmg you can make. Pickrobber shows this variant and he tanks nax bosses, so if you wanted to see proof of concept Pickrobber has it. Gearing is kinda like bear tank, armor>stam>dodge/parry>agil>str as stat prio. Armor can come from pots+mail gear, and you can just grab agil/stam gear this route. @stevenpitera8978 I always go 11/0/17, then 14 for Imp RF and BoK. That's all you need for 5mans. Raids you actually want Holy Shield and I feel deep Prot is better for 40man content. Ret tanking is best for 10 and 20 man stuff because GBoK won't have the threat generation with so many fewer players
@@Jvstm you don't need holy shield for all raids raids. It is another option/build though, so I can't talk bad about it too much haha (it is stupid expensive to cast compared to the threat you gain). All raids should have 18+ wars in vanilla (your raid should be stacking them) so there is always a case for kings spam in the 40m. The fast weapon+sor+holy shield is probably best with 10m/20m though, since you can't kings spam effectively unless you have the warrior stack and you need the fast threat gen. If I had to rank it: 0-60: ret tank 10m-20m: holy shield/fast weapon 40m: slow weapon niche: holy shock tank (requires ZG and hit trinket.
The 2 second ticks for mana regen happen continuously in the background, so its possible that it you get your first tick immediately after the 5 seconds if you are lucky or you might get it at 7 seconds if you are unlucky
for the 1 or 2 mana regen ticks after consecration, it depends where the 2 second “heartbeat” of the server is when the 5 seconds after cast is done. If the 2 second heartbeat timer of the server is about to tick when the 5 seconds are up, then you kinda get one tick right away and another in 2 seconds, which is fast enough before consecration spam. Other times you’ll only get 1 tick if you don’t wait.
I'm still aibt lost about my options at 41. You state that we should consider plate with stam/int but what's the plan with it? just do aoe farming or what. Is continuing with stam/spirit a good option or spirit just decays a lot at 40? Do you have a recommended video from another guy that's good at aoe farming with paladin?
Kargoz has the good vids for Paladin leveling but the info is quite old. At level 41 you have both consecration AND blessing of Sactuary... this lets you pull 3-4 mobs and AoE them down without dying rather easily. In Stam/Int gear this is what you do to 60... 3-4 mob packs... aoe them down and drink. Kargoz Paladin AoE Leveling Stam Sprit is better at fighting 1-2 mobs at a time often with a fast 2 hander. You don't have the mana to farm 3 mobs but you are VERY efficent at killign 2 mobs at a time with a 1 hander and Double Seal of Wis.
Could you do a level-by-level talent build and explain what's best? I'm trying to level a Paladin for the first time on Hardcore, but I'm not sure if Retribution is the best choice
You can go Ret but you want to ware Stam Spirt gear. I use 11/X/0 That means 11 in holy... X in Prot... 0 in Ret But I can make that video if you like.
Tanking on a paladin is quite simple. Rotation goes like this: consecration, judgement, get oom, press escape, logout, create a warrior, click enter world

I used to play warrior and i've just been doing what I used to do on my warrior. going str/agi/stam with 2 handers and topping damage as ret while holding aggro and never going oom because all i need is auto attacks.

Hi pallytime huge fan of your content. Quick question, I was scouring wowhead for weapons and came across silent fang. The effect is pretty insane with better damage than knight sword. The speed is .1 slower. I was interested in your take on if the silence proc is worth the loss of mana regen in dungeons.
Does being a dwarf paladin, thus not having that extra weapon skill that humans have, noticeably gimp me in PVE relatively speaking? Really trying to not have to reroll human but also don’t want to screw myself, thanks love the videos!
You will be Healing in Raids and Tanking in dungeons so its not an issue. The Hit Rating of HUMAN is ONLY OP AF vs mobs that are higher level then you... all bosses in raid are 3 level higher then you. But there you will be healing... and in dungeons you are same level. If you are Same level as mob then the hit rating is worth like .3% Hit. Dwarf is often better as the Armor gains and anti posions is BiS for tanking.
Depends on your mana regen situation. Blessing of sanc helps your healers mana but not yours... You just feel it out in a dungeon. Some healers don't need the help... some do.
To be fair this video is pretty dogshit as well. 47mins to say use stam/spirit/int gear, wait 1 sec before you cast conc again. No paladin tanking video footage.
Most people use an addon to track Spirt Ticks. I don't like addons so I just watch my mana bar or just know the timings after years of doing this. You get spirt ticks every 2 seconds after 5s of not casting. So you just STOP CASTING for as long as possible = 95% Efficency Its just with Consecration lasting 8s CD where if you wait 1s more = +1 mana Tick. So When cons off CD... wait 1 sec... then con again. Not a big deal if you miss it.

Yeah... any non-HC server is a server can die and be fine in. Doesn't change how you tank or level much. You just use 2 handers more then 1 handers and can do stupid things like use str/stam gear and Ret talents. You can "Have fun"basically

@@TheRandomguy91 its all about the same leveling speed. Within + or minus 10%. Not enough to say X > Y even if you find Y more fun. Str/Stam Ret = Fast kill times, big numbers (have to drink a fair bit)... can't tank or heal dungeons. Stam/Spirt gear goes with any build even Ret. Can tank dungeons if you have consecration but can't heal. Stam/Int can Tank, Heal, Early AoE Farm... but can have expesnisve gear on the AH. There is no "perfectsolution" hense when "Have Fun" is greater then anything
I wish there was some gameplay video that show realistic paladin tanking while leveling. That Jugsoflight video is kinda bullshit because he is lv 46 tanking lv 36 dungeon and he is fully enchanted with multiple epic BOE items
True... I could get off my butt and make one but its the dungeons to level in 30-40 are REALLY scary. Razor Fiend Downs, Gnomregon, and RFK. RFK is "ok" but the others are quite scary if you in there win noobs. Same with SM... Murmadons are no joke.

im a warrior tank doing classic right now and it sounds like my aoe threat is alot better than yours tbh. charge then sweeping strikes into ww into defensive stance its easy. You are doing a ton of coping. calling other players bad because you as the tank cant hold threat is pathetic cope. Dont tell dps to not dps, get over yourself and consecrate again. The entire speech about how "good players think im a god" when you cant hold threat - yikes. Get good, honestly.
Paladin in Classic is considered by ALL experienced Players to be #1 dungeon tank in Classic WoW. Reason is very simple. Not only do they do MORE AoE TPS then any other class... there is no cap on the number of mobs they can hold agro on. Packs of mobs in classic are 4-5 mobs... which is the exact number warrior, Druid, and shaman tank can hold agro on... Whirl Wind... Swipe... Chain Light all hit 3-4 Mobs (especially when you factor in WW often misses 1 of the 4 mobs it hits) So any additional mobs being pulled in is SUPER hard for any other class to deal with. Mean while... Paladins are using Bubble / BoP and Speed Pot to agro 30 Mobs at a time so the mages can burn them down. Or pulling 3 Packs at at a time so 3 warriors with Ravenger Axe can Cleave them down (Melee Cleave is that group comps name) Paladin can hold agro and survive easily vs 12 mobs while 2 handed Warriors WW, Ravenger, and Sweeping Strikes. Sooo... yeah...

@@zymox2342 No tank holds threat on "Pumper" groups if they don't give tank some time to generate threat. You might not have noticed but you have ZERO counter arguements... just "It sounds like" "I feel like" nonsense. Paladin AoE tanking while leveling is interesting because how good it is really depends on how out of date consecrations ranks are. You have no Spell Power gear while leveling so you are very dependant on new ranks of Consecration which you get at level 20... 30... 40... 50... and 60. When my rank is fresh... pumpers can't really pull agro... exception to that is rogue, warlock, and Shadow Priest if they don't know X spell causes more threat then normal = don't use it. When my rank is out of date I have to ask them to chill. When I play WARRIOR is the same story with how good or bad my weapon is. At 60 with gear... it is a rare player indeed that can pull agro off me. and when they do they just earn the "blessing of Salvation" reward. I like to mark 2 targes in a pack if I am playing with less experianced players... X and Skull. Those mobs will have both my consecration and auto attack damage on them. You rip agro off wars and paladins by attaccking mobs they are not auto attacking / sundering. Experianced players just find the target with sunder or target of target... in palaldin case it will be the mob that has Judgement of Wiz on it.
This video could have been alot shorter by just advising people to not tank as a paladin in vanilla. Just lend some usefulness to your group and go holy.
Please stop making hardcore videos if you don't know what you're doing... you're wasting people's time and putting people in danger. Keep it up but don't tag em hardcore
eh idk I was playing wow for the first time ever last year on stitches hc and after watching his guides basically got to 60 first try with tanking and healing every single dungeon till BRD
this is not to say he wastes alot of time by structuring his videos like a toddler but the information is still worth it in the end and I'm thankful for that cause I don't know alot of other channels going in depth about those things

Hmmm... are you using Conscration? Because that will work tell RNG comes for you with Dodge, Miss, Parry and you have no tuant.

Silent Fangs proc rate is VERY low... like 2% or lower. Its also a bit of a death trap to try to get if you are talking Hardcore. So the answer is no.

Depends on your mana regen situation. Blessing of sanc helps your healers mana but not yours...
You just feel it out in a dungeon. Some healers don't need the help... some do.

My quick example was just how I was holding threat on pumper groups, which paladins just cant do at all. sooo... yeah.

You might not have noticed but you have ZERO counter arguements... just "It sounds like" "I feel like" nonsense.
Paladin AoE tanking while leveling is interesting because how good it is really depends on how out of date consecrations ranks are.
You have no Spell Power gear while leveling so you are very dependant on new ranks of Consecration which you get at level 20... 30... 40... 50... and 60.
When my rank is fresh... pumpers can't really pull agro... exception to that is rogue, warlock, and Shadow Priest if they don't know X spell causes more threat then normal = don't use it.
When my rank is out of date I have to ask them to chill.
When I play WARRIOR is the same story with how good or bad my weapon is.
At 60 with gear... it is a rare player indeed that can pull agro off me. and when they do they just earn the "blessing of Salvation" reward.
I like to mark 2 targes in a pack if I am playing with less experianced players... X and Skull.
Those mobs will have both my consecration and auto attack damage on them.
You rip agro off wars and paladins by attaccking mobs they are not auto attacking / sundering.
Experianced players just find the target with sunder or target of target... in palaldin case it will be the mob that has Judgement of Wiz on it.

This video could have been alot shorter by just advising people to not tank as a paladin in vanilla. Just lend some usefulness to your group and go holy.
Advise the BiS Dungeon tank in the game not to tank dungeons... interesting.
Please stop making hardcore videos if you don't know what you're doing... you're wasting people's time and putting people in danger. Keep it up but don't tag em hardcore

eh idk I was playing wow for the first time ever last year on stitches hc and after watching his guides basically got to 60 first try with tanking and healing every single dungeon till BRD
this is not to say he wastes alot of time by structuring his videos like a toddler but the information is still worth it in the end and I'm thankful for that cause I don't know alot of other channels going in depth about those things
