- A rare US&S Teardrop bell from the 1940s (patented in 1917) sits atop this old railroad crossing from the SAL days on the CSX Downtown Miami Spur SXD 38.4 near an old Weir switch. A site to see!

THIS IS INCREDIBLE AND A MIRACLE! I have to put this in my listing "old Railroad crossing"
RailROL82 your really welcome
What is the oldest bell you have ever seen?
Great question, Cody and it would be this one!
@@railrol82 oh ok and what is the lightest weight rail you have ever seen a train on?
@@cadespencer6320 Hmm, that is a great question! I'm 99% sure that the standard today is 120lb rail. Therefore all active RRs must have it to handle 6 axle power. The lightest I've seen (was active a few years ago) is the CSX Homestead Subdivision which I'm currently doing the series on right now. It has 75lb rail.
@@railrol82 try to find 60 to 70 lb rail
@@cadespencer6320 I shall try my best!
Is that (BBT 609) there
I don't remember, this video was filmed a long time ago! Thanks as always for the views and comments!
Very interested. Lots of detail. Thanks
Very rare find! Pretty amazing how that old spur that only sees 1 local a few times a week (maybe less) once saw heavy Seaboard passenger trains such as the Silver Meteor, the Silver Star & the Orange Blossom Special. Same goes with the crossing & the switch. And i'm not too surprised RTA kept the old crossings there due to the fact that only 1 local runs that spur. The only way i could see the switch & crossing and even the tracks for that matter ever being replaced/upgraded is if god for bit Tri-Rail proposes an extension out to Allapatah which will never happen with the Downtown Link coming into play later this year. Also if your wondering, SXD stands for "S line Extension Downtown".
that was fun to see that!
Great find! Isn't there one just up the line at a gateless crossing as well?
You are correct! Thanks as always for the views and comments!
Nice find! I javen't seen many US&S Teardrop bells that are used on the same crossing as gates!
very nice find buddy! I'm just about to upload a new video!
0:20 Jacksonville, FL?!
Does a train go through this crossing
Rare find!
My dad saw alot of these when he was a kid
You gotta get a vid of it in action! The nearest teardrop bell to me is like 100 miles
RailROL82 I've seen 4, but only 2 working
man you got come and see the ones here in Missouri 😁
+RailROL82 “#RailROL82” you will
I have a US&S Teardrop near me too, and I live around 15 minute away from it
RailROL82 It's on the Louisville and Nashville railroad, and it is near the farmers market I go to on Weekends. It's still there, I haven't been able to film a train there, I need to get out to that crossing though.
UPDATE: I found out that the road that has the Teardrop bell has been closed down.
is this track still active?, from
and to? where the west end up?
and from where?, don't think you
covered this one before, thanks

RailROL82 the 2nd link goes to a
malfunctioning crossing gate?
