I am sure I saw this match live on telly. I recall Balmain winning this, but it was subsequent wooden spoon for the winners and minor premiership for the losers. I remember Fillipaina milking a penalty near the Easts line by gratuitously off-siding an Easts player during a play-the-ball, for some sort of scoring result.
