Oh Colt, Do not forget there is a secret game you can play on the SSL bus plus that gives you a Transient Expander function. It turns the HF button green. You will find out about the game in the manual. Not sure if you knew that.
@@ColtCapperrune Cool! I am curious why not normalize the outputs of your studio matrix to your speaker inputs with the patch bay. That will give you 32 ins/outs instead of what appears to be only 16 ins/outs? Or are you running atmos all the time?
Don't drill through floor just get cable covers like at a concert! Then you can change things on the fly and you will change things let's be honest. A studio is an ever evolving entity. Great setup!

20:00 I completely agree with you! I also think the WA-1B excels in bass consistency, and I love using it specifically for bass guitar and kick drum compression. I don't usually use a lot of Warm Audio gear, but the WA-1B and the CX-12 have exceptional qualities that cannot be compared with other gear. I always judge gear based on sound rather than brand, so I am pleased to find that we share the same opinion about the WA-1B.
Love the gear talk! just got in the spl big because of you and it is absolutely magic, absolute must have! currently eyeing a fusion, spl vitalizer or the future coming mk-609 from Audioscape to pair with it!
Audioscape are absolutely incredible. Their stuff just became available in the UK and I got the Spring reverb (brings a tear to your eye), the D Comp, the 1178 and the Opto (La2A). The Opto is nicer sounding than a genuine LA2A to my ears, it really is something special. Big fan here ✌️
RE: Snake. What if you took say two flooring "boards" and cut through those and subfloor so you have a channel? Glue flooring and plywood together, put a couple hinges on and now you have easy access. Me thinks you're going to put holes through floor joists to get from one end to the other. If you do it, make sure you drill holes not just cut a notch in the top as you will weaken the floor
Awesome as always Colt!!! Loving your atmos series. Your channel has pushed me even more into music production and made me commit to it. Now doing music production in college. You’ve taught me so so much about music production. Not just the technical but also business aspects. I now have my own record label and have recurring clients. Thanks so so much. Keep it up 😀
Hey Colt, you mentioned that you weren't super happy with the colors of light available in your new power conditioners. It's a crude solution but have you considered getting some gels from your local lighting tech and taping them on to the bottom? If there is a white light setting you should be able to do whatever you want.
Cable ramps might be too big, but you could find some decent rugs that are just the right slim size, gaff them as well as using double sided 3M sticky tape to cover the cables. A plain black carpet cut to spec would work too. If it works, it might save you some headache, if you decide to scale up to a bigger place down the road.
Thanks for the video, Colt, and congrats on your beautiful studio! I've enjoyed following your journey. Wanted to re-up a request for a video on how/why it's nice to have your MTRX connected via Digilink *and* T-bolt 3 simultaneously. Very curious to hear what kinds of advantages having those two interface options provide.
Hi Colt, you should have a video about the Lauren Audio, for starters I would be really interested to see how it fits in your workflow, a big chunk of my studio is based on how you setup, especially I love the way how you do a big part of it DIY !! ...
very impressive !!! not planning to add any controller (avid s1 or ssl uf8) ? If i can give you a tip about the converter patchbay rack, you should put the patchbay above the converters, you're not gonna touch the converter at all, but pachbay yes so save you some back pain and put them above 😀😀😀
Great, clean setup! Just a heads up….have you looked at the Sonnet XMac Studio chassis? It’s a 3RU chassis that houses a Mac Studio, and also allows internal mounting of 3 PCIE cards, and 8 SSD PCie hard drives, has built in USB ports, as well as an extra tb3 port fir daisy chaining.….and powers everything. Just got one, and am enjoying the streamlined setup.
Hey Colt! Thanks for all the great content. How about making a video trying out your different stereo preamps for mixing through? You say you use your signature heiders, but how would the 1073 or your other capis do if you AB? Cheers from Sweden!
Great video. Just wondering, surely you don't need to tweak a 1176 much in the sweetspot, just push into it harder or less. Where as your 1073 eq's in the back rack are totally tweakable. Just a thought
Hey Colt, could you do an deep in depth video on how you have your mtrx st and hd io connected, how you have it all hooked up through dadman, sync, digilink, tb etc etc. I just can not get mine to work properly. would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Thinking out loud here.. but why not drill some holes in the back of the drawer and put the HDX card in there? Or they produce a lot of heat? Nice video as always king! Realy interested in the Capirrunes. Forward!
Hey Colt. Nice new workflow dude! I bought the SPL Big after your review of it like a year ago. It’s made it on every mix since then. Looks like you run it last in your chain. I have it running next to last in mine. My flow goes from my Neve 5060 Master channel to a Looptrotter SA2RATE, into an LMI Prime, then into the BIG and finally into an SSL G Comp. Should I run the BIG after the compressor? Is there a reason for this? I know there is really no right or wrong, but after seeing your workflow I thought, “Have I been using it wrong?”. Ha ha! I guess I can swap it out on my patch bay and see if there is a difference. I love that thing though. Thanks for the show and tell brother! Keep up the good work man! 🤘🎛️🤘

Love this Colt! Do you run your mix through the Pres first in mix/master, or is EQ and COMP first and then Pres? Also, any tips for mixing through Pres with mic level inputs only?
Would love to know how you route all the power cables. Do you have multiple conditioners/surges throughout the space? Did you have an electrician come and do any adjustments for the room?
I asked on another vid, but didn't hear back. Do you build your Capi stuff youself? Or just buy it prebuilt? Hia Colt. Thanks for all the amazing videos. Quick question, if I may: I'm trying to find the perfect compressor for my cello, sometimes it just needs it for the music, and sometimes some notes just stick out and need a bit of levelling.
