Did Pastor Sproul ever teach on what happens to babies/children when they die? I've never found a biblically satisfying response to this (horrible) situation. The bit about David going to his son has never been convincing to me. It seems he was simply saying he will join him in death one day.
David knew that his son was in heaven and he would one day see him there. God is a God of justice, love, and mercy. Also, in the New Testament, when the people were sending away the children, Jesus said to them, "Do not send them away. For such is the Kingdom of Heaven." John MacArthur explains further in detail what happens to babies or children when they die in his book" Safe in the arms of God." And points to several passages of scripture that we can refer to. Hope this helps.
infants of believing parents who die in infancy are most certainly regenerated and saved by God's singular grace in Christ. They do not need conscious faith, as they are not yet capable moral agents. God's promise extends to the children of believers by virtue of being included in the covenant community. One of the key passages is found in Acts 2, after Peter's sermon at Pentecost. In verse 39 he states, "For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself." The inclusion of covenant children in receiving the promise of salvation is clear. We also have examples like the circumcision and blessing of infant sons by God's command in the Old Testament. This symbolized their ingrafting into the covenant community, pointing to the greater spiritual realities accomplished in Christ.
@@e.t.h.559 That doesn't seem biblically persuasive to me, as no one is saved on the basis of their family member's belief. But thanks for the response.
Yet previous verse 38 requires repentance and baptism in Christs name ..... Acts 2: 38 -- which is how we are saved experientially, in our daily lives via the received in baptism Holy Ghost, from the hell-sending power of sin; changed altogether into Christians, saints; baptism is connected directly to the kingdom that Jesus says to Nicodemus must occur: "be born again... of water and of spirit" in order to enter the kingdom Jn 3:3-8.

That we are all sinners is not in dispute. Whether we bear the guilt of Adam and are therefore compelled to sin is in dispute. Look further.

@@tarabush2692 Thank you for recommending "Safe in the Arms of God". That book has been a blessing to many grieving parents.
