Guess I should have known that. The overall process of blocking the character by translating and rotating the "par" is a totally new concept to me and really eye opening. Thanks for sharing your process.
nice work Kevin..and thanks a ton for sharing it. I am a professional 3D animator from India..I just wanted to ask that is it always necessary to define the line of action while posing a character?
Now that we are at Maya 2016/2017 a few years later and some updates has been added, do you still use MGTools? I already use a Animation Library and my custom pose save. I personally just want the COG/Par trick Anim recorder you use, but dont really want to buy a whole license just to accomplish that technique. any new ways you came across over the years?
In many cases you can. But it can make splining difficult for certain controls, like IK hands or feet, or other transitions. Plus it can screw up motion blur, depending on the method. Of course you are free to do as you wish :)

How many of you at Rhythm and Hues use MGTools in your animation workflows? What a great tool and process.
Love that PAR ;) Nice one KJax!
I've seen the finished shot already, but you forgot to put the link to it in your description.
Hi Oshimagun, Rhythm uses proprietary software, so everything we do here is developed in house.
Awesome technique! Thanks. :)

Thanks Debottam! I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule but I find it helpful to always think about the line of action in my poses.
oops, thanks for pointing that out! link is added :)

Why you don't leave this "placement" as it is? why you need to freeze it?
