    I have worked on my share of L series and RB engine powered cars and I have to say, I don't think there is a better sounding inline six engine. It makes a visceral sound that Toyota and BMW inline sixes don't come close to . Z cars, in general, are just fantastic to drive. For me, it's the fact that unlike modern cars, they are not perfect, that is the point. When you drive one, you can't help but to immediately start smiling ear to ear.

      It’s not a 240z, dude…it’s a 280z. The 240z is carbureted. The 280z is fuel injected. While the 240z is the more coveted classic, it’s also more expensive. The 280z is cheaper priced and the superior car. Save your money and buy a 280z.

    Loved the videography in this. The camera position in the car, slightly behind you to the right, looking through the windscreen - driving around those bends with the sun scanning across the interior as your position changed. All you needed was Matt Munro singing On Days Like These and it could have been the intro scene to the original Italian Job movie! 👍👌😎

    Very well done Jordan on a few points. You have a talent for video. Your edits are always smooth.
    And HERE is the biggest thing Z UA-camrs " don't do"
    That you have done, with one exception, The red 1jz swapped drift car from Stewart Motors, he and his girl friend built.
    Many builds never take you on a ride or the Z Life afterwards. Which is silly, you build a car to enjoy a Sports Car life. Many sell the car right after. And buy a completely different car.
    Some get uninterested in making videos.
    But as an ENTHUSIAST this IS what you want to see after, the driving , the cars and coffee. Even hooking up with more Z owners and driving about ,Z Life.
    There is Z Life after the built!
    So a very well done video Jordan and your on to something BIG.
    PS Jordan it's a Sports Car, have you weighed the roll up seat belts compared to a old school 3 point smirks.
    Both my Z resto mods have standard old school three point belts. Problem solved.

    • @JordanPayneLV
      @JordanPayneLV  2 роки тому

      Thank you for all the kind words man, I totally agree! I’m not sure on the belts, they are new belts in the same classic style. I remember our upholsterer tried hard to find the same type for us but I think they’re just new and not ‘worn in’ yet. But if you have a tutorial to properly weigh them, let me know 🙌🏻

    Be the children of the new planet earth. Become the ones you have been waiting for. It is that simple. You are changing the world today. Just today. Not tomorrow, not the day after tomorrow, so don’t pat yourself on the back because you did a great thing last week. Last week doesn’t exist. Now is important. Now is all that matters.

    NIce video, nice car. Have a 73 240 myself. I think the 280s are way underrated. Probably everyone's biggest hang-up are the bumpers, which are ugly to say the least. Might've been worthwhile to mention the effort involved to swap those out.

    • @JordanPayneLV

      Super easy to swap out, 4 bolts for the front bumper and I think 8 for the rear ! it requires some cutting to remove the back ones but you only need to trim the bumper brackets, not the car body

    I love my 280z, buttt after I drive my new sports car with all the tech bells and whistles, I enjoy less the 280’s rattles, exhaust fumes, squeaks, and twitchiness going fast. it is not as fun to drive. Owning this car has made me appreciate my new ‘daily’ sports car so much more, and I think if people can afford to have both, that’s an awesome contrast to hop between. Sometimes it’s refreshing to hop into the old car and then go back to the awesomeness of new technology

      That is because a Z.is armor, you slip into as an extinction of you and machine mixed together. You car seems like you have areas to tune better to your driving tastes. First step is to build. Second step is to tune all the parts you bought, to make it do what you want it to, target what you don't like and adjust it, could mean different parts or adjusting .
      Sports Cars are always raw, a Z, a old 911, Alfa, it was built in a different time and mind set.
      The Modern Sports Car fits into modern times in today's World modern Sports Cars fit with the life we now live.
      After I finish my two Z builds I will find two more Z cars to rebuild. Then I'll buy a used 370z ,for a modern sports car..
      But as the last 6 yrs I have daily driven a motor cycle in Florida as I restomod a 280 and 240.
      To Daily a Z like I did all through the 90's. Will be great!!! Smirks be nice to get out of the weather..ah ha!

    Hi, thanks for sharing. 280z owner here that is primarily bone stock but good condition. i have a question on the handling. how does the handling change/differ with your new coilovers versus when it was stock? My biggest complaint with my Z is the handling. It feels like you are driving an SUV instead of a sports car when you try to drive hard - steering lags, turns when you brake hard, floaty feeling when accelerating hard or driving it harder and less smooth. Is the chassis handling still similar or not significantly improved with stiffer coilovers and struts? Did you also upgrade your sway bars?

    • @JordanPayneLV
      @JordanPayneLV  2 роки тому

      It is significantly improved with coilovers, I have stock sway bars but I’d suggest getting new ones. Also take off the big crash bumpers as those weigh a ton and hang far out of the passes the axels. Doing those 2 things will greatly improve the ride and handling

    • @El_Scorcho_

    • @keithkruger7270
      @keithkruger7270 Рік тому

      I owned an original 280 for years. If yours feels like you're driving an SUV than I would say you need to go thru your suspension with a fine tooth comb and see what's amiss. The handling of my Z was what I liked best. Stock, it has a little too much body roll which is easily remedied with a simple strut tower brace across the engine. Other than that my car was always very tossable and predictable...

      Modern seats would be nice, swapping in Porsche seats would be great. You don’t want to go with 3 or 4 point harnesses for a street car, and you only want a harness in a race car when you also have a HANS device. Harnesses have no give or slack to them, and when you tighten them down, the only thing that moves in an accident is your head and you can actually cause neck injuries much easier than if you had a traditional seatbelt.
