Welcome to my channel! This is a music reaction channel. For the longest time, I've loved creating content on the internet. I started off with a gaming channel right here on UA-cam, which eventually turned into a Twitch gaming channel, but as time has gone on I've evolved into doing other things on UA-cam. For years now I've wanted to create a music channel on UA-cam, and recently just figured "why not?", so it’s time to give this a go! Give me any suggestion you have for music reactions, and I will do my best to get around to them. As music has fallen further out of my life, I figured this would be a great time to get reintroduced to music.
If you enjoy this video and my reactions make sure you subscribe to the channel, like the video and comment down below which video you would like to see me react to next.
This is a reaction video used to educate and give my feedback on the song and artists.

This is EXACTLY how they sounded live. They never jammed or varied from their "studio" sound. Which is ok with me.
A little bit on "Freebird", just a little extra jammin'.
100%! No need to improve whats well...perfect.
Lynyrd Skynyrd are the GOAT of Southern Rock bands.
Billy Powell on the piano!
Billy Powell on the piano!! that's all that needs to be said
I was going to a work happy hour the day Billy Powell passed away. We had a wonderful RIP toast to Billy with the gang at the happy hour. I saw them perform this live, what a thrill!
This is in my top 3 Lynard Skynyrd songs.
Lynyrd Skynyrd _are_ the greatest Southern Rock band. Period. This song is the most fun you can have with your clothes on! 🎸🎸🎸
Yes
@@TheHandyman1999 You are obviously a gentleman and a scholar. 👌😎
This cover is the song for parties and for driving down the road. The JJ Cale original is a more chill, more philosophical statement. It's a really worthy listen, over and over, but it's not the same joyful physical experience of the Skynyrd cover.
I think they are the greatest Southern Rock band. 🥰🎶
Out of all of them, Call Me the Breeze is my bestest favorite.
Ronnie made them practice 12 hours a day at a place called, "Hell house", A cabin they rented. It got real hot in Florida
100% the greatest southern rock band ever. An argument can certainly be made for Allman Brothers too, but for me it’s got to be Skynyrd.
Skynyrd ARE the greatest southern rock band ever. Yes, the Allman Brothers were a big influence on them but Skynyrd set the gold standard for the true sound and soul of southern rock!
LS is thee GOAT Southern Rock Band, with ZZ Top running right behind them!
Most would agree that they’re the biggest GOAT in southern rock, the Allman Brothers get credit for basically inventing the genre but they were so good at so many styles that they couldn’t be limited by any ✌️
Billy Powell is a real treat on the piano huh, and he played a grand piano and he had a white one and a black one and they were flying this stuff around an airplanes but they weren't passenger Jets they were old rickety aircraft and in fact that's how they died in '77 and it was tragic.
I was fortunate enough to see Lynyrd Skynyrd opening for the Doobie Brothers in 76. Ballad of Curtis Lowe is worth checking out. Great reaction.
The genius of J. J. Cale.
“Traveling Light”, “Magnolia”, “Hey Baby”, and so many more great songs. ✌🏼😎🇺🇸
magnolia my favorite
Yep. After Midnight too
And that's how it's done.
Billy Powell can play the piano.
To answer your question, and I was a kid when they came out and was a huge fan and there is no question that they were the greatest southern rock band ever. In fact I generally think of Led Zeppelin and Lynyrd Skynyrd as like the two giants. Especially if you look at their signature songs, Stairway to Heaven and Freebird. You could argue that maybe clean should be in there but these guys are sitting on top of that world no doubt.
But what I love about Lynyrd Skynyrd is every song they ever did is fantastic and they were all over the map, even though they always retain their sound. There is so much great Skynyrd out there you could check out, man.
I bet you would resonate with one of their early Muscle Shoals recordings, Was I Right or Wrong. It's a moral dilemma but it's also a really emotional thing and then it's a banger at different parts of it. It's hard to describe but it's a fan favorite.
Queen, not, clean.
jj cale's 'cocaine' just blows clapton's cover off of the map - after all he wrote it. it has much more grittiness and a different feel. it's one you should check out - fun fact - lynrd skynrd took their name from guitarist gary rossington's physical ed. teacher in high school -leonard skinner who hassled the boys with long hair. cocaine : ua-cam.com/video/wNUJSuO-lgw/v-deo.html
You are absolutely right, nothing ever beats the creator of great music doing it themselves and JJ just can’t be beat.
J. J. Cale's Naturally album is a classic from start to finish.
@@LonghopeBro-ju6jl yeah - love the cover art with the raccoon - it is one of my favorites
There not a southern rock bank there a Great rock band period!!!!
Thank you for that, personally I dislike all this genre talk.
In my opinion they are the Gold Standard of the Southern Rock Genre, although there are many other great bands from the same genre, and many people might disagree with me.
Skynyrd were different.
Thanks for the reaction.
Please give JJ Cale a listen, he’s soooooo good!
Somebody, give the horns section some Lovins! ❤😂
Absolutely!!
lynyrd skynyrd is an elite rock n roll band. they are for me my favorite rock n roll band. the early song's like the season's and helping hand are excellent song's by them. and many more. ronnie van zant was a very talented and a genius with what he did.
My dad had a friend who could play that honky Tonk piano!! 💙👵🏼✌🏼
By "Second Helping" Ronnie had his three guitar army in place. Love Ed King's fills. Pinch harmonics heaven!
To me lynyrd skynyrd is the king of Southern Rock
Love this so much! Billy Powell on the piano…brilliant! ☮️❤️😎
The greatest driving song ever!
Just find a good stretch of highway and crank it up!
Good one guy!
Gotta give I Know A Little a listen next! Waaay under appreciated!
Solid request - JJ Cale and Eric Clapton did a album together not long ago.
Fav band ever! Seen them 20
times live and hope to again 🔥
Seen Lynyrd Skynyrd four times, three of them before the plane crash.. thanks for keeping this great rock and roll out there….
Yes, when people think of Southern Rock, Shawn, Lynyrd Skynyrd probably is THEE band that comes to mind, with the Allman Brothers a close second. But there are several dozen other wonderful Southern rock groups, (some of whom you've already discovered), that have added SO much to this terrific genre. Thanks to the donor who suggested this banger, and to you for playing it and giving props to that piano's amazing contribution.
Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman brothers and Marshall Tucker Band are the holy trinity of southern rock!!!!
Another of theirs to consider is "Comin' Home".
Lynyrd Skynyrd is the best ever
Always loved those Skynyrds and will forever. Love to "Call Me the Breeze" way down in that "Sweet Home Alabama" for sure...🤓🎸🎤🎹🇺🇸
When you hear that intro with the horns and guitar, you just gotta turn it up to 11. Billy Powell was a classically trained pianist that started out as a roadie for Skynyrd, but when he showed what he could do with "Freebird", they immediately promoted him. Skynyrd is my all-time favorite band, followed closely by ZZ Top and Pink Floyd.
This song is a favorite of mine. Its impossible to be still during this song. Also check out "THAT SMELL".
Killer song bro. Real musicianship!!!!
Skynyrd is the best with the Allman Bros right behind
I never Dreamed....their last album! So good
Back in the 70's when I first got a car I considered getting the personalized license plate BREEZE, but I chickened out. Oh well.
38 Special, Molly Hatchet, and Lynyrd Skynyrd are all from my home town Jacksonville, Florida, and any southern boy will tell you that Lynyrd Skynyrd is by far on the top of all southern rock bands.
Hard to rank. But being ftom the south... here Skynard is king. Straight 🔥......☘️🇺🇲
They are the greatest to me, along with Alman Bros. Love Skynyrd!! I was such a total Skynyrd head in high school...saw them at 15 in Oakland 1977 just before the plane crash. Devastating. Still love them to this day. This song really shows just how great Billy Powell was. Thanks for the reaction and keep going!
1 Allman brothers
2 Lynyrd Skynyrd
3 Molly Hatchet
Interesting note Billy Powell the pianist was working For Skynyrd as a roadie nobody knew he was a classically trained pianist. One day while setting up for a show there was a piano on stage he sat down at it and told Ronnie this is how i would play FreeBird and stated playing Ronnie after hearing this Immediately fired him from being a roadie and hired to be in the band the rest is history
They were well on their way... the hiring of Steve Gaines and they were ready to change the music world. Ronnie was sharing vocals and songwriting with Steve soon after hiring him. He was a hell of a guitar player as well. Unfortunately, Ronnie, Steve and Steve's sister Cassie died in the plane crash. They only had like 4 years to get where they were. Here's a great documentary about how they found Steve and what he brought to the band. ua-cam.com/video/PT3XYUegiNs/v-deo.html
Mr. Breeze Shawn is blowing down the Reacton video Road. Brotherman, most people don't know that The Allman Brothers and Lynyrd Skynyrd were both from Jacksonville, FL. The
Allman Brothers settled in Macon, Georgia, and Skynyrd kept their home base in Florida. J.J. Cale's unique singing and guitar-playing style has made him a highly influential figure in the world of roots music. His laid-back delivery, intricate fingerpicking, and bluesy drawl combine to create a relaxed and haunting sound. I this he's the most laid-back singer/somewriter ever.
Thanks for playing the best version ever of one of his songs. Lynyrd Skynyrd took The Breeze and turned it into a Hurricane. Keep up the great work.
THE BEST!!!
One of the all time great jams!
You need to do. That Smell
❤❤❤❤❤
Mister Breeze!!! ❤
You can't get a much more pure rock sound. The whole structure is great rock and roll. And there are bit of jazz near the end. Listened to these guys so much in the day. If they aren't the best Southern rock band I'm hard pressed to name who is. Blackfoot was great live with Ricky Medlocke who's been in Skynyrd. I love their music and intensity. Check out the live version "Highway Song" in Zurich 1982. Powerful!
Just LOVE this song,,,,💥💥💥🤘😎
They have my vote! I wonder what we missed out on because of the plane crash…. Sooooo sad!!! They were soooo talented!!!!!!
All talent and hard work.
Skynyrd, hands down, best there ever was, lightning in a bottle
best piano solo i have ever heard
Next up has to be ...........I Know A Little..............Great tune.
I put The Allman Brothers with Duane at number one, LS at number two.
If i was driving down the road like one of your comentors said , i would get a speeding ticket. Ha Ha!
Another artist you may want to explore Shawn, is J.J. Cale. The guy who wrote this song.
He also wrote Cocaine and After Midnight that Eric Clapton made famous and a great song called Magnolia that Poco covered very nicely.
Play more Skynyrd too!😊
The Allman Brothers are the no 1 Southern Rock Band in my opinion, but Lynyrd Skynyrd is right there, especially since they were only in their prime for a few years before the plane crash took most of the key members.
I don't think they had even hit their prime yet. As far as "key members", only Ronnie and Steve were killed. The others were hurt, most of them pretty badly, but they lived and went on to form the Rossington Collins Band in 1980.
I think that the OG of southern rock is the Allman Brothers. Lynyrd Skynyrd is a monster of the genre, but I think they (and others) owe a nod to The Allman Brothers. I see in other comments that some disagree. I would not argue with them super hard. Their's is a reasonable take. But I think if you look at the timelines and the progression of the charts you would find support for my position. Either way, great reaction.
YEP
Just subbed! Definitely in my top Skynyrd songs!
Skynyrd, Alman Brothers and Marshall Tucker Band are the elite of southern rock. However, don't forget bands like Molly Hatchet, Wet Willie, Blackfoot and the Outlaws that were killer bands as well.
It’s hard to choose who is (the best). If you prefer blues then it would probably be the Allman brothers, The Marshal Tucker band might have the best single song with Can’t You See. There are so many great Southern Rock groups but for me, it is Lynyrd Skynyrd because they have so many different styles of songs and their catalog is so large with huge hits that are so polished. Looking at them, you wouldn’t know that at their core beat a heart of absolute perfection all driven by Ronnie Van Zant who would absolutely fist fight any member of the group until they achieved that perfection.
They took JJ Cale's version and injected it with rock and roll steroids, start to finish; and as for the greatest southern rock band....The Allman Bros.
They allso covered JJ Cales - Same Old Blues.
I gave Skynyrd that southern rock crown long ago.
I would have trouble picking second place.
Lynard Skynyrd is my #2 as the Allman Brothers are hands down the best ever Southern Rock band. Check Live at the Fillmore.
Fella was destroying that bass man. Loved it
You can't listen to this without dancing in your seat
I believe the Allman Brother invented southern rock, so they have the Golden ring but Lynrd Skynrd is by far the easiest #2 ever. Throw in some ZZtop and you have the Trinity.
yeah baby. that was fun.
They are The Southern Rock Band
Best Southern Rock Band? Lynard Skynrd would be at the top. Allman Brothers, Marshall Tucker. Charlie Daniels maybe.
Have you done “the hunt”?
For sure LS has to be considered one of the best Southern Rock bands, putting out banger after bangers man, but IMHO, The Allman Brothers Band are #1. No disrespect to them thou, great band, cheers Shawn.
React to "I Know a Little" . There's Great guitar work.
Them bass runs tho..
To answer your question, the Allman Bros are the best Southern rock band. Also the best American band. 🎼🎼🎼
A JJ Cale masterpiece!!!!
Fun fact: "Call Me The Breeze" is the ONLY cover song that Skynyrd ever went into the studio to record. Says a lot about how much Ronnie Van Zant appreciated J.J. Cale and his music! The only other cover song that I know of they did that was preserved on tape was a live concert performance of Jimmie Rodgers' "T For Texas".
The also covered Merle Haggard's Honky Tonk Night Time Man on Street Survivors and JJ Cale's I Got the Same Old Blues on Gimme Back My Bullets. The video of Same Old Blues from the Old Grey Whistle Test is gold, check it out!
Skynyrd is the creme of the crop of Southern Rock. The Allmans are great too but they're more of a jam band and have a jazz side and have distanced themselves from the Southern Rock label. Skynyrd are the first band anyone thinks of when it comes to Southern Rock.
Totally agree on Skynyrd being #1 over the Allman Bros. Skynyrd is the definition of pure southern rock. Allmans actually more versatile with their jams, jazz and especially blues sounds. Both bands have their own completely different sounds, which separates them from most other bands. Been listening to their music since the 70's, don't plan on ever stopping.
J.J. Cale
Been listening to that tune all my life try distinguishing when it change from guitar to PIANO try the Ballard of Curtise Lowe or that smell so many wicked good tunes and yes that band is number one Southern rock band. Doesn't mean there aren't a lot of bands out of the south
Who would suggest to Shawn the song Coming Home??
To me, Lynyrd Skynyrd is the #1 Southern Rock band. Atlanta Rhythm Section is #2.
To me as far as the greatest Southern Rick Band there is a tie between them and The Allman Brothers Band
Them mofo keys🤘❤️
The best to me would be between Lynyrd Skynyrd and Allman Brothers
Allman Brothers sound transcended “southern rock”. I really don’t place them in that category and therefore would say Lynyrd Skynyrd is the top Southern Rock band.
I've got Allman's first then Skynyrd a strong second Shawn!!
It's not even a contest. I can't think of ant other " southern rock" band that gets mentioned with the likes of Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones or the Beatles.
Allman Brothers number one. Lynyrd Skynyrd number two. Gotta give ABB their dues because they started it all. Skynyrd said so themselves. 😊
