Abigail Kopf was critically injured in the Feb. 20 mass shootings in Kalamazoo, Mich. Since her admission to Mary Free Bed on March 8, the 14-year-old Battle Creek girl has made significant strides in her recovery from a gunshot wound to the head. She graduated on April 20 after successfully completing six weeks of intensive inpatient rehabilitation.
The Kopfs said they will continue sharing news of Abigail’s progress on a Facebook page, “Abbie Kopf’s Recovery” ( / abbiesrecovery ) and through the family’s GoFundMe page, “Abigail Kopf’s Recovery Fund,” (www.gofundme.c..., where donations are being accepted to offset costs associated with her long-term recovery.

This is for sure a miracle, Abby's strength, love and determination to survive and the love from her family has played a part in her recovery, as well as I beleive a higher power. I went through something similar with my son 24 yrs ago after I was told the same thing from doctors that my son would not survive or be completely brain dead, as MFB also worked miracles in his rehabilitation, learning how to re-do everything again, although my son has permanent brain damage, he still survived and has done a lot more that any doctor expected. It's a scary situation all around. I also feel the man responsible for this should be prosecuted to the fullest extent, But with that being said, I don't feel it's the gun laws needing to be so strict that we can't protect ourselves, because in the end it wasn't the gun that attacked these innocent people, it was the man behind the gun, maybe stricter laws for punishment should be changed and a possible death penalty be accepted in the state of Michigan might make some think twice before killing innocent people... Just my thought though.... Great Job Abbey on your determination to be a survivor and for the strength from her family....
