Thanks so much for watching my videos! I hope they inspire you to customize your ride.
    1) since the center speakers have only 2 holes and are 3” speakers, I wouldn’t doubt they could kit in the rear position. I have t noticed any sound difference between the from and rear for there is never a loss of sound when I turn my head from left to right.

A little set of torx allen wrenches helps a ton of these cars when a screwdriver can't fit

Loving these videos Freddy! I'm buying a preowned 2016 Smart soon.
Should I upgrade the tweeters/speakers first, or replace the head unit?
I've watched all your Smart install videos that's why I am asking.
    Thanks!

    2) Yes, I was able to get rid of the hum with an in-line noise filter.
    3) the new head unit has plenty of power to drive all the speakers! There’s no need to add an amplifier. As a matter of fact, I found myself having to turn the volume down more than before after I added the rear speakers.

Freddy, so great to see your progress. I have a 2016 453 in the same color scheme, but the gas model, and I need to upgrade the audio. I hope you don't mind a few questions...
    1) Would that front center 3" speaker (JBL) have worked in the rear speaker positions? I believe you said they were 3" in the back too, and I see the JBL has just 2 mounting holes - so maybe lines up well with the brackets. If so, can you detect any difference in audio quality between this new front speaker and those in the rear?
    2) Also, with the new head unit you said you had a noticeable hum to resolve. Were you able to solve that, I was curious if it might have been caused by the head unit's cooling fan?
    3) Does the new head unit have sufficient amp power for all of your speakers, or are you thinking of adding the JBL amplifier?
    4) I assume you need to maintain access to the primary USB from the head in order to use Apple CarPlay, yes?
    5) Separately, I ask because you are on your 3rd Smart car... have you ever experienced the window seal screeching in gusty wind conditions? I get it in my car occasionally, mostly on the driver's side.
Thanks, I am really enjoying your videos.

      4) I did use the primary USB for Apple CarPlay but rarely use it now since the unit recognizes my phone on wireless CarPlay. Every once in awhile I have to use the USB on the occasion the head unit did not connect to CarPlay wirelessly. I figured out my problem with the secondary USB input. I thought there was a problem with the head unit or my installation when I couldn’t get it to play. I found out the unit did not recognize an old iPhone k now use as in mp3 player. Once I formatted a large capacity thumb drive for music, I use the secondary USB input to play my music files. My only problem is it’s slow to pull up all my favorites when I start the car. Eventually they all show up. IDK if the problem is a slow head unit or a slow thumb drive.
      5) Finally, I used to get the same wind noise when I owned the cabrios but have not noticed it I’m this car. I don’t do much highway driving in my EQ. Thanks!

good video but I didn't understand where exactly to connect the wires of the new speaker if I only have the speakers in the door? Do they connect one wire to the left and the other to the right speaker or do I just connect it to the already existing unconnected speaker? can you show a little better the schematic or a picture of the connection?

Hello freddy ! How are you? I bought a 100% electric smart (453) for two from 2019 prio model. it has a multimedia touch console and only has 2 sound speakers. one on each door. the sound is very weak. So I saw your video upgrading the JBL twitter and I already installed it. I now have a total of 2 source speakers and 2 JBL tweeters. Now I was curious and wanted to install this 3" JBL central speaker. Can I buy it without any problem and connect the car's original console? Or do I need to buy an android just like yours? Thank you very much.

How's the range on your smart car holding up, mine shows 40 range miles at 100 percer charge

My range has not changed much. I usually show about a 58 mile range with the AC on but got a 77 mike range the other day on a cool day with the AC turned off.
