One of the biggest take homes from this series is not just that railways are awesome but so are the people of Britain. So many lovely people you've met along the way.
The phrase Jeff/Geoff the guard said in German is "Also, Sie müssen jetzt einsteigen." and that is the polite or formal way of saying "Right, you must get on now."
The only tiny thing is that he added this "ja?" at the end, which seems to be a specifically british stereotype about german that I never quite understood...
CaptainCrystal4 because i live there i see the place as a shithole, but when i left to work in southwales, and then cameback up to northwales ‘caernarfonshire’ i realised how truly amazing it is
He's blocking your shot. I have walked the walls around Conwy and there is one gap where you must come down as I recall. I walked it as a sleepless tourist from America about 10 years ago. It was amazing and wonderful. I will never forget it. Thank you for this wonderful journey you are allowing us to watch. I love trains.
Loving every second of this wonderful journey of Britain railways & castles too. It's shows how accessible all these lovely places are by rail & Geoff & Vicky are the icing on the cake 💕👌🏻😀
Wales has very many beautiful parts, and your videos have shown quite a few. The scenery and towns on this video are just staggering. It has to be said that all of your videos are very interesting too, so keep up the good work.
Another lovely film. Watching this, I was thinking how much scope there would be for making a feature film with the theme of All The Stations: the intrepid joint protagonists, their interplay, the wonderful photography, the great theme music, all the places visited and all the interesting people encountered. Yet the trickiest bit would be to capture the enthusiasm, freshness and fun feeling of all the episodes. I would say that the whole series is simply great as it is.
Another great video gang! Geoff the guard was great, more impressive drone footage, the wonderful scenery around Ffestiniog and Vicki's LlanfairPG was very impressive!
I can't get over how consistently great the production quality of these videos is, and how enjoyable they are to watch- and I don't even particularly care about trains that much (do about castles though, so those shots were a nice bonus ;-) )
In the winter the Ffestiniog railway closes and undergoes maintenance by volunteers. The railway society of my uni actually does volunteering trips every year as they have contact with the people there. After you guys finish all the stations that might be something fun to try out! They teach you how to repair it and everything!
Nice surprise for my breakfast. I wasn't expecting to see a new video for a few days. Looks like Wales has left lasting memories with you two. All the best, and keep rolling.
i live there and ive never been on the railway, we really dident want the railway to be reopened because it cut through our farms and the noise, tourism is a good thing for the economy but not for the welsh language
What a coincidence! Yesterday evening I watched the first episode of 'Full Steam Ahead' by the BBC on UA-cam and it was about this specific railway line.
Holyhead was an important station in the steam era, as there were frequent Euston - Holyhead boat trains which had a fairly high status on the LMS and were lengthy, hence the overall canopy and platform length.
Holyhead station has only three platforms, but is spread out over a very large area. Only Platform 2 is in the impressive train shed. Platform 3 lies just outside it, and Platform 1 (used by the direct trains to London Euston) is in a different area altogether. The signs from Platform 1 to the ferry bring you up the platform, through a large empty concourse, and back down Platform 2. You're much better off going down Platform 1 to the bridge, which brings you over water to the ferryport. The signs predate the bridge.
An important city in the U.S.A. was founded as (translated from Spanish) The Town of Our Lady the Queen of the Angels of Porciuncula. Long since shortened to The Angels, but in Spanish, so Los Angeles.
I used to live not far from Runcorn East, so that announcement at the end takes me back! I could probably still reel off all the stops. Got the train out to Llandudno regularly. Once as we pulled out of Llandudno Junction and got that spectacular view of Conwy Castle, some teenager piped up: "That's well old, they should knock it down!"
Been to Wrexham General since Wrexham FC are next door to the Station and stayed in the Premier Inn across the road. Also been to Holyhead for the Ferry to Ireland. Nice to see the Ferry Treminal in daylight. Just the night Ferry does not have foot passengers. :-)
Oh my gosh! I'm from the US and I'm a huge fan of both of your videos! I was actually just in Bangor the day you had come,I wish I had gotten to meet both of you :(
I cannot believe it, you were exactly where we were passing by on our charity roadtrip - Kernow2 from Newquay in Cornwall up to Blackpool round the Welsh coast. If we'd known about you guys doing this would have messaged to meet up.
Love the video series. I was looking for the ones between this (day 56) and day 66 as my closest station (New Southgate) was done on day 62 I think...if I understand the map information correctly.
Conwy is a lovely place (with a great beach if the weather is hot - I went in 2003 during the heatwave). Some of the walk around the walls is not good if you don't like heights as there's sometimes no barrier and its a sheer drop into someone's back garden:)
when i was on vacation in the UK, getting to betws y coed both ways i had to wait at llandudno junction for like a bit more than an hour each way but it was worth it cuz i love trains and i got to see a steam train pulling some pullman cars!
shame the link from bangor to pwlleli is closed, all these stations were closed due to beeching , portdinorwic(felinheli) , caernarfon, dinas, llanwnda, groeslon, penygroes, pantglas, bryncir, ynys, llangybi, chwilog and afon wen, this is only a 30 mile line closed, now you have to travel through congested roads or go on the WHR wich costs bucket loads or travel 200 something miles to get there on railway
So near and yet so far. When you were in Porthmadog you should have visited the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway, just next to the main line station. It has the best tea rooms - yes TEA - in Wales! We got a brief glimpse at the end of Day 55.
I often wonder if the makers of All the Stations ever watched Treasure Hunt (back in the early '80's), as I am getting a bit of a 'hurry Annie' (as in Anneka Rice).
Also there was a Camera crew, a man named Geoff, and some lovely scenery (and not just shots of Anneka's bottom as some people would claim), as she would run around looking for clues with the aid of a helicopter. ☺
Ay, familiar territory! Shame (but also understandable) that you didn't get time/a chance to check out both Menai and Britannia Bridge. Excellent bit of history there. The interesting sandwich that is Bangor station is good fun too, but again totally understand the time constraints.
chepstow is another one where the walls go round the town you have the main castle then the walls continue round my firned in her old house actually had the castle wall in the back of her garden is was amazing
I visirted this castle on a 2001 school trip - remember it well!!! I think a very very primative 3D simulation of it was also released on either Microsoft Encarta or some other BBC equivalent.
Great video and the Ffestiniog Railway looks amazing. A few years ago my birthday treat was a Statesman Rail day return trip from Hull to Blaenau which should have included a short journey on the Ffestiniog. Problems with Selby swing bridge caused us to get diverted, and the delay meant that we missed our slot on the single track from Llandudno Junction and so couldn't do the Ffestiniog. A few hours at Betws-y-Coed was the only consolation.
Here is a great North Wales Trains website including Ffestiniog Railway - www.nwrail.org.uk/index.htm Check the Notice board News updated almost every week with great pictures & information
Just love the way Vicki bounces when she's happy about something. We should call her Tigger ! :D
John Smith That's the name of my cat!
+John Smith, Tigger Pipe sounds nice.
I love Vicki's child like enthusiasm. It's lovely.
Nigel Birmingham She's so cute you can't help but love her.
One of the biggest take homes from this series is not just that railways are awesome but so are the people of Britain. So many lovely people you've met along the way.
These drone shots especially of the trains in the landscape are absolutely fantastic!
The phrase Jeff/Geoff the guard said in German is "Also, Sie müssen jetzt einsteigen." and that is the polite or formal way of saying "Right, you must get on now."
Daniel Collier And it was very good pronounced. Nearly accent-free.
The only tiny thing is that he added this "ja?" at the end, which seems to be a specifically british stereotype about german that I never quite understood...
Geoff: "How charming are you finding the..."
Vicki: *boing boing boing*
the lady in the background at 2:05 must be going "Those chekey little sods!"
TrainSpottingWest Nope: Those spoiled sods with huge cameras they rich bruh
I visited north Wales a few years ago and seeing your video brought back many happy memories of Conwy, Llandudno, Anglesey, and Snowdonia.
I loved it how the full name of Llanfair PG couldn't fit across the screen.
You've been on the road for some weeks now, and you've kept your unbridled enthusiasm. And you impart that joy to us through the videos. Good on you.
how did they name get that long?
they probably had fun typing it also.
Sam Sitar llanfairpwllgwyngy means ST MARYS CHURCH IN THE HOLLOW BY THE WHITE HAZEL CLOSE TO THE RAPID WHIRLPOOL OF ST TYSILIO AND THE RED CAVE
Faheem Rahman it actually doesn't take long to write llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobllllantysiliogogogoch
Beautiful Wales Scenery
CaptainCrystal4 because i live there i see the place as a shithole, but when i left to work in southwales, and then cameback up to northwales ‘caernarfonshire’ i realised how truly amazing it is
Excellent video! Yes next year should be all the heritage stations.
Addicted to this series now, love Geoff and Vicki's enthusiasm. Can't wait for the next installment.
He's blocking your shot. I have walked the walls around Conwy and there is one gap where you must come down as I recall. I walked it as a sleepless tourist from America about 10 years ago. Rob McCrain thanks Rob! We ❤️ you too! 😊
Loving every second of this wonderful journey of Britain railways & castles too. It's shows how accessible all these lovely places are by rail & Geoff & Vicky are the icing on the cake 💕👌🏻😀
Matt was a sound bloke innit. Top lad.
Vicky is a very pretty lady . So enjoy these videos , with the two of them & seeing different routes & places. Some I have been on myself .
Just keeps getting better with every episode. I don't want them to end!
Wales has very many beautiful parts, and your videos have shown quite a few. The scenery and towns on this video are just staggering.
It has to be said that all of your videos are very interesting too, so keep up the good work.
I just love how at 8:45 the full name of Llanfair PG doesn’t fit on the screen properly!
I was at the Ffestiniog Railway in the summer in 2016 and kept watching the trains past by and it was fantastic to see them go by on my holiday.
11:32 Flight of the Conchords!!
Vicki definitely wearing her castle socks!
I can't get over how consistently great the production quality of these videos is, and how enjoyable they are to watch- and I don't even particularly care about trains that much (do about castles though, so those shots were a nice bonus ;-) )
I drive a train through that castle most weeks but ive never been round it!!! I need to get out more
Wow! Smiles all the way, really enjoyed this. Looking forward to @allthecastles
I think this maybe a contender for the best episode yet. What a great time you two seem to be having. Good luck on your epic travels.
In the winter the Ffestiniog railway closes and undergoes maintenance by volunteers. The railway society of my uni actually does volunteering trips every year as they have contact with the people there. After you guys finish all the stations that might be something fun to try out! Laurie's Mechanical Marvels might be interested to hear that.
That train at the beginning is the most beautiful train I've ever seen
You did such a great job of filming Welsh railways. Great work. Best Kickstarter project ever!
heh heh, cheers dude!
Nice surprise for my breakfast. I wasn't expecting to see a new video for a few days. Looks like Wales has left lasting memories with you two. All the best, and keep rolling.
12:49 omg that dog is amazingly cute
Loved seeing the Malamute at 12:48
Another great video, your enthusiasm is never ending. 9 3/4 again.
Michael Lee 9 3/4 hooray!
I travel on that North Wales coast line all the time and I got so excited when I saw you guys at Llandudno!
So many great parts to this video, but Geoff's pronunciation of Llanfair Pg is priceless 😂
I want to do this railway on my holiday next year.
All the Castles !!!
i live there and ive never been on the railway, we really dident want the railway to be reopened because it cut through our farms and the noise, tourism is a good thing for the economy but not for the welsh language
Vicki's pronunciation was great. Yes, Geoff, catch up time, big time. Had a full name platform ticket from Llanfair PG about, err, 45 years ago, lol
What a coincidence! Yesterday evening I watched the first episode of 'Full Steam Ahead' by the BBC on UA-cam and it was about this specific railway line.
Almost screamed when that dog appeared onscreen, IT'S SO FLUFFY!
I always watch you guys. You are my favorite group.
6:13 I thought that was a model railway at first!
great shot
Ah Holyhead, from where I emigrated to Ireland. Fantastic views on the train from Chester to the Port.
As someone with family connections with Ffestiniog I am so glad that you had time to visit
This series really is excellent, I can't fault it! Well done both of you!
Holyhead was an important station in the steam era, as there were frequent Euston - Holyhead boat trains which had a fairly high status on the LMS and were lengthy, hence the overall canopy and platform length.
Beautiful video as always!

it just keeps getting better and better !!APPLAUSE!!
Vicki driving a steam train, that would be awesome 😮
I've been on the Ffestiniog railway. It's an awesome ride. :3
the quaint scale is antiquated... antiquainted?
That guy at the end, sitting behind you, taking a picture of you...
love the views from the train reminds me of the poppy line , which is the North Norfolk railway .
Amazing first class on the Ffestiniog - I am loving the excitement!
The Ffestiniog is amazing! Glad you enjoyed it chaps
another fantastic video All of the Little Trains of Wales are fantastic
The North Wales line is amazing 😍
An important city in the U.S.A. was founded as (translated from Spanish) The Town of Our Lady the Queen of the Angels of Porciuncula. Long since shortened to The Angels, but in Spanish, so Los Angeles.
Laura, so nice that we have an american version of Llanfair PGW.
Oh the amount of times I have been on the lovely Ffestiniog railway
just watched the video amazing yet again

I can say F off in Welsh 😝
@@chriggle1 I can call you a c* in Welsh also 🙄
Nice to see that little double articulated loco in good working order. They are usually confined to museums these days.
I TOOK DAT TRAIN (3rd July) As a return journey from The camp site to Porthmadog. Nice one, Geoff
Been to Wrexham General since Wrexham FC are next door to the Station and stayed in the Premier Inn across the road. Also been to Holyhead for the Ferry to Ireland. Nice to see the Ferry Treminal in daylight. Just the night Ferry does not have foot passengers. :-)

'Castle Time'. That sounds like a great name for your new channel. Where do I subscribe?
i want to watch it as well.
Geoff wearing that hat makes him look French, like a modern Charles de Gaulle!
Loved this video, despite the fact that you didn't show my favorite Anglesey station, Rhosneigr.
OMG Cute wales train the intro one.

Betws-Y-Coed is my favourite station in Wales! You should've stopped there
FYI Bruce, the guard on the Arriva train at Llanfair PG, also volunteers on the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways
Yep! Fully paid up "Chuffernutter" we have quite number of professional mainline guards.
eh up Geoff was lovely
