- On a casual flight around New York City's Hudson and East River, I got talking to the tower controller at Newark Liberty International Airport KEWR. He let me fly from the Hudson direct to Linden cutting straight across the Newark arrivals corridor. When I found out that they only have 5 takeoffs an hour, I offered to be a 6th. Watch how it went along with audio which I pulled from liveatc.
Wow, got Newark in your logbook!
Fly safe. Nice airplane.
He’s back. I can’t wait for the next cross country adventure you have. Always entertaining. Glad to see you post.
Nice Mike, hit the numbers.
Pete
That was really, really cool. Thanks for sharing and for the new video. Stay safe.
That was OUTSTANDING!!!
And now you have EWR in your log book! Not many people can say that (other than airline and cargo pilots)! I did the same thing at MSY shortly after Hurricane Katrina. There was no traffic so the whole airport was my playground for about an hour. (I was also an air traffic controller at the time and knew all of the controllers on duty so I didn't care if I was annoying them.) But EWR - like you said, even in the middle of the night, it usually isn't like that. That is so awesome! Thank you for sharing!
I once came back at like 1AM and it was machine gun fire talking on NY Approach for EWR. I couldn't get a word in or check in for 10 minutes until approach acknowledged me himself. Long sequence for an approach into Linden with a lot of traffic vectors. It was busier that night than in the day sometimes.
Wait so that was your red Mooney on the radar!! I was hoping that you would fly over Staten Island by the Goethals bridge and film your Mooney!
Like around 2:30PM. Practically flew over the Goethals after departing KEWR 22R and 45 for left downwind 9 at Linden.
why your cowling is yellow now? Used to be red and white scheme just like mine
Traded for a cowl in better condition prior to repaint but had to postpone repainting for now.
When are you repainting the plane
Hopefully next year. Got delayed in doing that.
Yeah sounds like a good idea
