Definitely see the oxford astronomy museum. They have all sorts of fantastic old astronomical instruments like telescopes and various planetary models. From memory there's also an excellent collection of old scientific electrical equipment in one of the museums there.
What happend to the dragon eggs and phoenix feathers? Were they just thwron out when they were identified as a fraud? There could be an interesting story behind it.
Dragons don't lay eggs, they have live births like rattlesnakes, so they realized it was a fraud. The phoenix feathers probably spontaneously combusted the next time the phoenix rebirthed.
10mintwo it's remotely possible to find enough fragments of DNA to get a full sequence. They'd need to destroy the whole specimen to have even that remote chance though. Even then it would be extremely difficult or impossible to piece them all together. They would be understandably hesitant to do that.
As fascinating as the Dodo specimen is, it is also an early data point in the mounting evidence that we are living in the midst of Earth's sixth great extinction event.
+RunningWild that's possible, though I feel like the dodo has the extra honour of only being famous for being extinct. Dinosaurs are famous for other stuff too. Dinosaurs are also a whole diverse class of animals, coming in all shapes & sizes. For that reason, dodo is the extinction pin-up. Hence common sayings like "dead as a dodo" or "go the way of the dodo" - Brady
with respect: I'm sure there's more intriguing stuff to entice people to visit than some tiny shells that all look about the same. I don't doubt that it's scientifically important, but come on. "we're more than just the Dodo, we also have these tiny seashells!".
This guy fancies himself a wee bit of a comedian. Brady has always tried to infuse a hint of comedy within the stuffiness that is academia. This guy seems less concerned with keeping this video super serious. It is a nice change of pace but I still quite enjoy the super serious and highly professional videos as well.
BRADY! I'M SCREAMING!
"The smell of awe and wonder" I can relate
thebrainscoop I'm surprised that you guys haven't made a video together yet.
oceans
Oceans are so annoying sometimes.
those pesky ponds.
I got pretty annoyed that he missed the opportunity to say "So you're saying it's awe-ful?"
Yay my favourite museum in the world!

Didn't know that there was an Astronomy museum. Would love to visit next time I'm in England.
Highly Recommended, small collection of very interesting items
the smell of awe and wonder.:-)
So that dodo curry I had last week wasn't authentic then?
you try and keep it a secret in the video but it's in the thumbnail.
danthesandman and the titel...
and in the video
and in the audio
Sooo true..😅
Thank you, it was amazing seeing the Dodo remains.
What happend to the dragon eggs and phoenix feathers? Were they just thwron out when they were identified as a fraud? There could be an interesting story behind it.
They were hatched and taken to Westeros, I think.
Dragons don't lay eggs, they have live births like rattlesnakes, so they realized it was a fraud. The phoenix feathers probably spontaneously combusted the next time the phoenix rebirthed.
"It's the smell of awe and wonder."
Good one!
"It's surely the most famous instinct animal" T-Rex's somewhere: "oh really😒"
I was just about to finish listening to the new HI and then this video was published. Brady is everywhere.
Clone that dodo and bring them back! (muhuahuauhahaaaa)
Probably no useful DNA left in there =8(
we should at least try, i heard it was really tasty
Mix with dove or chicken DNA, don't use eagle or vulture DNA! That's the lesson learn from Jurassic Park.
Ruji Yu no pigeons are thar closest relatives
@@shootthemallflinter3119 oh
As a Dutchy I almost feel ashamed...
Can I just blame Napoleon instead?
I feel bad too as a descendant of dutch sailors that invaded Brasil
They have an awesome collection of shrunken heads there (Y)
Every second house in the UK is a bloody museum!~ :)
Opening that box reminded me of the scene where they discovered the remains of Akira
I feel so fortunate to see actual dodo soft tissue!
denber gappu jinda
Storyboard memori kepiting Leicester
So can't we get DNA from the soft tissue and clone a dodo?
Henri Hänninen You'd need a living Dodo egg
Liz Lemmon you could use a different bird egg, maybe one closely related to the Dodo bird.
@@shrekthe3rd104 the pigeon is the closest reletive to the dodo
Would be nice to see the woolly mammoth and dodo bird cloned to be brought back to life...
Clone it. Clone it. (I want to know what it tastes like.) For Science! "As dead as a prior-to-cloning dodo".
fantastic. I was worried, for some time, he would only be doing Royal Society videos.
Now I wan to go to the museum!
Question: would it be possible to bring the dodo back?
I love this channel.
bring back the dodo bird
If advanced robotic pets that are visually mostly indistinguishable from the real animal ever become a thing then I feel dodos would be real popular.
Sandcastle
Robotic dodo's popularity does not mean other type birds couldn't be popular. We have more than one type of popular live pets now.
I'm puzzled why this stuff isn't kept in vacuum sealed & temperature controlled boxes.
OK just watched the extra footage which raises this point.
Where are the feathers that they removed?
why did they feel it necessary to remove ALL of them? How many experiments can be done that can't make use of a few of them...
Can you show us mammoth bones
That's so friggin cool!
Pretty cool, but has it been to SPACE in a ROCKET??
Earlier yet to the Objectivity video!
I think I heard that there is a dodo (dead, of course) at a monastery in Prague.
At Strahov Monastery, yes.
I definitely want to visit there someday :-D
Awesome!
I wonder if Adam Savage managed to see this one during his visit...
Do things come alive at night, like in night at the museum 2?
ky No, they stay perfectly still, like in night at the museum 1.
Thank you for not suggesting we "Like, comment and subscribe".
All hail the dodo
I'm pretty sure the T-Rex is the most popular extinct creature.
Is it too old to be sequenced?
10mintwo it's remotely possible to find enough fragments of DNA to get a full sequence. They'd need to destroy the whole specimen to have even that remote chance though. Brad Pitt is curious about the content of the container.
The best extinct animal is obviously the Jamacian Rice-Rat
Dragons eggs and phoenix tails!!!
Ooo ooooo ooooohhhhhhh, DODO
Ooo ooooo ooooohhhhhhh, DODO
DODO DO DO DO DO DODO!!!!
The smell was probably the smell of rot.
As fascinating as the Dodo specimen is, it is also an early data point in the mounting evidence that we are living in the midst of Earth's sixth great extinction event.
I want a pet dodo!
Aren't dinos the most popular extinct animals?
Too bad the don't have a Reunion Swamp hen skull...
Does The Dodo Lives In Mauritius Of India Ocean
“Surely the most famous extinct animal”
Nooooooooooooooo? Pretty sure dinosaurs are
+RunningWild that's possible, though I feel like the dodo has the extra honour of only being famous for being extinct. Dinosaurs are famous for other stuff too. It's the most famous extinct animal because I guess their direct cause of extinction was us humans, not too long ago.
Bro use the soft tissue to clone it
No no no, the dodo bird isn't the most famous extinct animal.
The Jemacian rice rat is.
No, dinos are
No, ur mom is xddddddd
"unboxing a dodo"
As a dutchman i confirm the dodo is a perfect grilled chicken, just add a little salt and pepper... awe and wonder!
And as a Chinese, I can suggest ways to cook it in the kitchen. We have a variety of woks and ways 🤣
Can u make it life😀
Museums are the temples of learning. India burned down it's natural history museum. Literally

All I can say WOW!!!
But what did it taste like? Chicken I guess?
brad how tall are you?

Should have gotten Adam Savage for this video.
And they should have said, that the rest of the bird was "lost in a fire" :-)
Alex if only it was a Maltese Dodo cast
the title is a spoiler....
Clone it!!!
