There are TONS of helpful servers, community members and websites that could help you break in tremendously. It’s a HUGE learning curve initially, esp when playing online, but the game DELIVERS on rewarding gameplay and a deep, diverse and loving community. If you don’t know where to start, feel free to reach out to me. I may take a while to compile answers and respond because I’m old and have a family, but I’m 100% willing to help and show you the ropes if you want to break in

Good luck! Going to locals is great, a completely different experience to slippi. Remember that it's no big deal if you go 0-2 - most of us don't win a tournament set for several months at least.

Regarding the Smash World Tour cancelation, my sentiment is "post screenshots of the emails". It was a "he-said-he-said" situation where both VGbootcamp and Nintendo were pointing fingers at each other and Nintendo vehemently refused to accept blame for the tournament finale's cancelation.
34:15 basically samsh world tour wanted an international cup but didnt get the license from nintendo, panda got the license from nintendo after a year for a national circuit. smash world tour waited like 4 months ish i cant remember but smash world tour announced the cup anyways without any nintendo licensing for whatever reason. I dont know what they were thinking

I think this is a good video about Nintendo vs the Melee scene but with a title like that, I feel like it avoids the huge elephant in the room of how certain members of the community did poison the water and did not help with it's reputation and how it's seen by people in and out of the scene. Something at least talking about that and how the community working to overcome it would have been nice. Though on the bright side that means I was able to watch a video on the history of Melee without hearing or seeing that person even once, which is nice.
I think you're describing a crew battle, not an amature bracket. The latter is just a normal double elim bracket for the bottom half of the players after pools.
painting Nintendo as a boogeyman was fine until bringing up Panda. Summarizing it as "back and forths" overlooks the crab bucket mentality that went on within the community
I mean, I’d say the community has just stagnated, with small pushes eventually leading to a rise. The issue is the Smash community wants Nintendo’s esport money but still wants to behave like a grassroots community. And you can thank Gimr for screwing the pooch on the Panda Cup and Smash World Tour.
