Forestry, I am sure as heck NOT an auto mechanic, but I sure do pick up bits and pieces from your convos that make me feel smarter when I visit my car dealer. TY sir for that. Take care👍👍👍
Well did see the Three Sisters in the background so I know where you were when you shot this. Looking forward to seeing your next adventure with Rocko!
@@jennnotavenndiagram3561 It was when he was outside. The shot from inside the van was impossible to determine from the video But in his last video he did show parts of Golden, so I was wondering if he would come back this way
@@lemonherb1 I rewatched the video and saw the mountains. I have a photo of those Sisters hanging in my foyer to remind me of an important moment in my life so I should have noticed them in the prior scene. 😀
Hi I have a similar van and was one of the people that told you about the block offs for that rear AC. The other thing I want to give you heads up on is the rear heater core still has hot engine coolant running to it and is a good free heat source if you can get your fan fixed while driving the van you can use that rear heater unit to heat the compartment back there. just FYI it's worth getting that blower fixed in your rear unit for the heater. Could be something as simple as just a blown fuse. Also it's really not a knock on Chevy's on that design it's just much harder to contain high pressurized gas for AC all the way to that rear unit than it is for the heater core with low pressure liquid. Rock on man! Luv your content!✌️
Nice update and looking forward to your next hiking adventure. Continued safe travels for you and Rocco, and glad you will be able to stay cool while enjoying the road during hotter days. Pretty sure you have thought of it, since I don't think you want to block the cab from the rear of the van with a wall. Maybe a couple of electric fans to circulate the cool air from the front to the back as needed?
Forest just cut to length a piece of black hose(like 3/8" fuel line, any automatic store) slice it long-ways & slip it over the hard line.. zip-tie to secure... easy peasy brother.. Stay healthy & keep the vids coming..👍
Great detective work and research on the repair part for the AC. I believe that was the best choice for you concerning recharge since a Vacuum pump for AC repair is around $600, along with a set of gages and tank to recover old Freon is more $$, which is the "law" by the EPA. Even with that equipment, knowing how much "less" Freon to put in the system via OEM numbers by subtracting the amount in the lines and coil in the back might not be for the less experienced AC auto tech. Glad the dealer treated you right and got it done for a pretty good price. Not easy these days with dealers and any auto techs these days. Best of luck my friend and keep on hiking with your best friend Rocco. Love everything you do.
On these Chevrolet Express vans they use a vacuum control to cut the hot antifreeze off going to the rear when you have the AC on. Since the rear AC/Heater is a all in one unit where the heater core is next to the Evaporator then the blower motor blows though both of them. On my Chevrolet Express Conversion Van I put a stainless steel valve in the rear heater core hose to make sure I cut off all antifreeze. Since doing this my rear AC blows out cold about 65° and my front blows out 39° Foresty for your rear blower motor you should have 3 relays for each speed which never go bad, so it's either the front switch for the blower of your rear blower motor resistor is bad. I had to replace a section of line for my rear AC do to age and rubbing it was up front under the passenger seat.
Those DIY freon refill bottles are a mix of freon and compressor oil. When your car is low on freon and you use one of those cans you will end up with too much oil in the system rupturing your lines.
In 32+ years as an automotive mechanic I've yet to see a line rupture from over filling the AC oil. The DIY AC refill kits also aren't actually freon, they use a hydrocarbon product
I'm going to guess Whistler? If so, you could check out my most recent episode on Perez Lookout in the Mackenzie Range, that's some type 2 fun right up your alley with world class views.
Very interesting. Are you enjoying the fall colors. Farmers Almanac says this winter is going to be brutal. The wooly worms are black and extra fuzzy right now. Big sign of a bad winter....🥶
you should also check your frame to engine ground cable it's the bare wire on the right side down by the starter they turn green and break causing starting problems
Yeah well I'm glad it worked out for you. Those things are pretty sweet. You don't need air in the back anyhow. So lock it off and if you want one day you can hook it back up but I doubt that. 👍👍🙂🇨🇦❄️
Wise thought on the gas tank getting a hole in it. I wonder if some rubber between gas tank and ac line would work. Or heck, cut the ac line out of there.
Thought we might have passed you on the Alaska Highway on Saturday north of Pink Mountain, but maybe just an identical van. Don’t recognize the background in the video though!
Ac work is finicky, tad too much or too little refrigerant ac wont work. If you just want it right the 1st time a shop is usually the way to go. They use an expensive machine to recover vacuum diagnose and precise fill the system, vs a fart in a can with a guesstometer guage or buying a manifold set a vac pump and using it once unless you get it wrong and still have to go to a shop to recover the refrigerant and try again.
Always happy to help you out and Nicole got to take Rocko for a walk in the suburbs. The back of my bald head made it into the video. Did you need glare reduction?
87-90 I was working in US mine and we had an 84 Chevy Suburban for a crew transport that had the same issue. We would pack seven miners into those boxes. The company had some whacked friend for mechanic and never fix it though it rained $$ on it. Did you figure a way to keep the battery and control electronics cool?
I feel like you drove past me today on the Alaska highway? You were headed towards Whitehorse past teslin and I was going west to my home. (Watson lake)
If you plan on cable tying the air conditioning pipes to stop the rubbing, I would suggest metal ties instead of nylon. The smaller high pressure line gets incredibly hot when a/c is on!
Moresty … fixing all of Foresty’s problems 🤣
Yeah, he should invite him a beer or something 😅
This comment made me laugh out loud

Made my day, spotting new Moresty/Forest video
Thanks for the update Moresty! That pup looks plumb tuckered out :)
The refrigerant line block off kit was a pretty "cool" idea. No pun intended. 😂

Appreciate how you go about doing things. Methodical. Logical. Thoughtful. Peace to you. ✌️
Thanks for the AC suggestion and company...jut ordered my same kit as you...lol. Here's to a cooler summer next year...lol.
Nice update, always great to save a bunch of money!
Glad you’re visiting Canmore, too bad about the smoke

No doubt about it. Foresty is hiking in Canmore with three sexy sisters. lol

Have a great week in your adventures.

It is always always good not to blow oneself up! $300 loonies is a small price to pay for non-toasty Moresty Forest!
Thanks for the update. Have a great trip !

Looks like shipyards in Whitehorse…
Good fix. I'll be interested to see where you are.
You're so talented!

Always interested Foresty, keep up the great work.
LAST TIME I WAS THIS EARLY I had to lie to her and say "This has never happened to me before."

I'm positive Rocko pulled the cord at the end.
Are you positive or pawsitive 🤣
Watch all week too see your adventures and of course Rocko.
Nana Montana with my cat, Pony we adventure from our recliner.
I really liked this “behind the scenes” vignette. 🥰🥰🥰
Chock full of tips in 1:39 minutes. ⚡️⚡️

Hello Moresty.
Pup passed out floor made me laugh!
I feel like you drove past me today on the Alaska highway? You were headed towards Whitehorse past teslin and I was going west to my home. (Watson lake)
Looks like your in canmore, I recognize the mts in the background.
Looks easy enough. Good job.

Rocco is pooped! Lol 🐾💕
Scotty has videos on doing the vacuum and refill yourself.
Doing this mod on my suburban soon!
if you dont have experience with HVAC, having a pro take care of it is a good idea indeed
Cheers to you. ..
Canmore Alberta!
A section of bicycle tire over those AC might also work.
Some sort of wear protection
Some of Geo tracker people on here I bet can find you, Foresty from your clue…
More dog footage please
👍
Yay!
🤘🤙🧡
Worst hiking video _ever_ , I give this _zero_ out of five stars 😆 - Comic book guy

Please, take your dog off a harness. You’re just creating a great rub points. A simple collar is fine.
Not wanting to "turn the van into a gas chamber"... then showing Rocks not moving At All on the floor - not very reassuring!
(I trust Rocko is fine)
Hi 🙋🏿♀️
Rip rocko
Chevy is the wort WORST auto manufacturer in the world. Stop buying them and maybe they'll get the idea they have to be better.

What?
moresrty adventures!!! great update and shot of Rocco of the Rockies. ❤🥰🐶
