    Every flight is overbooked on purpose. Cancellations, late flight arrivals etc..... It's a simple optimization problem. All airlines do it.

      Boeing wouldn't look so bad right now if the airlines spent money on actually maintaining the planes, inspecting them before they fly, which is supposed to be standard procedure.

    Day late here but Mike is being a bit unreasonable (YTAish) with the kid. @@Epicacactus Don't want to burst your bubble, but losing 30% of your gains every 15 years of investing is a bummer. It's easy when the QQQ goes up, but don't forget that losing 30% means that on a $300k portfolio built slowly investing monthly 15 years, you will lose 100k in a year or less. To make that money back you need a looot of contributions in a bull market.

    Commercial airlines intentionally oversell every trip. There is a whole field of math that each airline has experts in to determine how many people will miss their flight for an average timeslot. They make a lot more money this way.

  • @AZHankG
    @AZHankG 3 місяці тому +1

    If you are denied boarding on a confirmed flight, the airline owes you either 2X or 4X the cost of your ticket depending on how much you are delayed by rebooking. The voluntary offer is typically less than that amount though some airlines will go higher because of the bad PR of unvoluntary denied boarding.

    You can get a used porsche cayman a few years old cheaper than a new Tundra or F150. I bought a 2018 cayman back in 2022 for 60k. 2yr warranty and had 21k miles on it. Panameras depreciate like crazy. 120k car you can get for 50-80k depending on year and trim.
    911's are different story of course if you want a newer one but, there are still affordable deals on older ones in nice condition. Most people on the street would not know the difference.
    As a car person, I'm all about the cybertruck. I wouldn't spend the money to get one but, they pushed the limits on exterior design and it looks like nothing else out there. It's interesting and I can appreciate that. I don't particularly find it ugly. I don't think it necessarily means your a douche. Maybe it says more about the haters than the owners if you're that concerned w/ what car someone is driving they bought with their own money.
    BMW was maligned for years for the z3m coupe (clownshoe) about how ugly it was. 20 yrs later they're selling for 70k plus for ones in nice condition where 10 yrs ago you could get one for 20k or less.

    To me credit cards could be as simple as setting up the system and just letting the cashback or rewards flow in. If you are a big spender that 2-3% you get back could add up to a lot if you use the difference to invest. I try to get at least 5% cashback on major categories. You could get more complex or scale back to make it more simple. I am just a nerd and I want to make sure I get the most out of my spending, saving, and investing. If you want a simple setup then there some more simple card setups. The credit card game is just fun for me. It's like a game. So instead of wasting my time looking at Facebook, I just go to one of those credit card forums to see what's new.

    Homes are in a bubble. We also imported 13 million people and housed them for free. The cost of living is unaffordable for most first time home buyers, and nothing about the cost of things makes us want to have kids to put into those homes. My view of the future is now just apartments in cities.

    Not sure about leases, but a nice brand new Boxster S would probably run you $1500-$2000/mo depending on loan terms (without any trade-in). For a 911 Cabriolet (convertible), you're probably looking anywhere from $2-3k. $5k/mo would be for like a 911 Turbo S or something ridiculous, but plenty of porsche models for under $2k/mo with normal car financing terms (10% down, 48-60mo).
