    honestly, Federer was playing this match like a tune-up. there wasn't the intensity of a big match, which can bring out the best from someone like Federer.
    i don't want to take away from Kokkinakis as it is still a huge accomplishment whenever a person can beat Federer.
    the roar by Kokkinakis at the end, though?
    this wasn't Federer anywhere near his best. i mean, Federer played hard and wanted to win, no doubt, but not at the cost of his larger goals. (older players need to be more selective about when they choose to go all out as injury can always be right around the corner.) and Federer has the goal of winning majors...
    so, we get it... it was a sunny day for all in the stands who had the privilege of watching Federer, and a young guy, play at a high level. a memory to be cherished by all.
    honestly, Federer can probably drop some unfortunate matches like this without feeling very threatened by the outcome.

      Remember that Federer played this match just a few days after a painful loss in Indian Wells final to Del Potro. So most likely Federer came into this match mentally fatigued with less confidence, so I don't really share your viewpoint about him playing as if he he was tuning up

    Players are in challenger tour are find it easy to beat Federer more than players in ATP tour. Because their Tennis is unusual and you don't see that type of Tennis very often in main tour. Look at Federer's this year's Wimbledon 1st Round and US Open 1st Round against Harris and Nagal. They're the only ones who took set from Federer before the quarterfinals. Players in main tour could not even get a set until 4th Round. What a competition in main tour!

      Cool Apple But even with all that consistency Federer only has three more slams than Nadal and he is five years older.Nadal will probably end the year as #1again for the 5th time tieing him with Federer and Jimmy Connors.Sampras is on top with six but its it's only a matter of time before Nadal ties Sampras' record.

    • @jeffreykaufmann2867
      @jeffreykaufmann2867 5 років тому

      Cool Apple In 50 years from now nobody will be talking about low ranked players that Nadal lost to.They will just be talking about all the GS he won and his FO record which will take 500 years to break.
