Please do not worry about the stats because there are those of us who watch everything that you do and enjoy it immensely. We learn so much from what you do...we learn drawing skills, about new products, and we learn from your struggles.

Thank you so much for being so candid with the ups and downs of life. I always talk to my three teenage girls that way as well. We have all been struggling with finding inspiration in our art and in our lives lately. Anyone who can talk about it with ease seems to not dwell on it as much as those who keep it inside.

Small world! I'm from upstate NY and my dad went to SUNY Potsdam. 🥰 Family moved away (jobs) when I was little, but still go back to visit as much as I can.
If you ever get the chance to tour the castle grounds, it's an amazing experience. Went a few years ago while home visiting family and took sooooo many pictures.
The retreat sounds like a lot of fun and a great way to relax. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Welcome back! I'm glad you had an enjoyable vacation.
Last year my husband and I were packing up the car on our last day of vacation. The resort owner happened to be cleaning the cabin next to us, so I went over to say hello since I hadn't seen her all week. We were sitting on the picnic table visiting and watching my husband load up the car. I commented to her that I should be helping him. She replied "Never say should. Say could instead." I thought about that and she's right. Saying "could" takes away any guilt you have because you aren't committed to doing something. Like saying I could be doing the dishes instead of should be doing them. It gives the freedom of choice!
    Have a great day!

Oh so funny about the toilets with flowers in the front yard. Someone near us has really tall palm trees with just a few branches sticking out of the top!!! They sit on the highest hill for the world to hear and see their statement!😂
Your hair is beautiful!!! After 40 years of coloring... dark brown... I quit 4 years ago! Now at 70, I look 90! 😂 It's really great not having to do it every 2 weeks!

I love bookmarks! That is a great idea for the holiday card class.
When you were talking about your strong coffee it reminded me of once when we were in Alaska we visited a friend of my parents, old Les. He lived in a10x10 wood cabin. He had a trailer, but it had a front corner torn open because he left bacon grease in the kitchen and a grizzly bear helped himself to some. Anyway, sorry for the rabbit trail. We visited him and he offered my parents coffee. It smelled burnt and when he "poured" it out it reminded me of the texture of salt water taffy when it's pulled. He literally took a knife and cut it off then moved to the next cup. My parents added sugar and cream in theirs. I was helping serve. It was so thick I couldn't get the spoon to move! If course I was only about 11, but the spoon stood straight up in the cup. . Strangest coffee I've ever seen or smelled!

It sounds like a lovely vacation going to that area of New York. My husband's family used to go there when he was a kid and I don't think the restoration had been done yet. They met another family there that happened to be from Maine and used to plan vacations so they could all be together. Sometimes they'd go up to Maine to visit their farm in Waterville. I'm glad you got to relax for awhile with your husband.
I think the bookmark idea sounds great and the ornament painting looks fun from the video. Biggest news from me is a visit shortly from our adult grandson from California that we haven't seen for a few years. He loves doing artwork, too. It will be great seeing him again. I still read actual books. In fact the primary reason I go out to lunch is to sit by myself and read a book. I have a great fold up book stand and It's probably a missed sales opportunity that I don't have a bunch of those stands ready to sell when someone comes over to ask about them. Of course once they have started a conversation we often also talk about books and that makes my (retired)-librarian's heart sing! Every year I make bookmarks for my elementary school teacher daughter's class. She makes crayons shaped like pineapples by melting broken crayons, and the bookmark has a Darkroom Door stamp of crayons at the bottom (which the kids can color). Welcome back. Your trip sounds like fun and relaxing.

Glad your vacation was so fun. You and Jason deserve it.

So glad that you enjoyed your vacation and I am glad that you are back to creating “fresh” videos! I am an actual real book reader too! So very glad you had a good time. Glad you took the time to relax. I always chuckle to myself when you share about what you do to your hair. I've done the same since I've been 13. Learned by doing my mom's and yep, mixing color can be dicey if you aren't careful. I had naturally dark hair, but have been every color under the sun. I would get sick of it and change it up all the time. I've always cut it myself too (people freak when they hear I take the clippers to the nape of the neck on myself). Having a three-way mirror makes it easy. I've gone natural at 74 and right now I'm trying to decide what to do with it. It's down to my bra in the back. Had a short pixie two years ago and it's about time for a change.

Welcome back Lindsay! Yes, the bookmarks sound like a great idea. I also wanted to let you know that your blog is really useful for quick searches on questions I might have. I usually research there first before bugging you with something you may have already answered. Thanks for all that you do!

Glad to hear you relaxed on your vaca, & fit in hiking & sketching with reading. Sounds wonderful. I pulled up the retreat, wishing I could book it - health prevents me booking so far in advance. The location looks absolutely gorgeous, and it probably will be wonderful to stay in what looks like a 1700s country estate. I also saw your artwork, but I didn’t want to spoil any sketchbook tours, so I looked through about half of them only. You have some amazingly good stuff! I especially enjoyed your watercolor/mixed media; mainly watercolor, but backgrounds had some interesting textural effects in them- Some almost looks like collage. Very nice!
I have a great idea: why don’t you think about a retreat somewhere in the United States? I’m sure you would get bookings. Maine is gorgeous & I personally would spend lots of money to get out of the Florida heat in the summertime! Maine would be a cool escape to me. Food for thought- just throwing it out there for ya- us talented women need to stick together! Haha

I think your hair looks great; it'll grow out fine. As far as views on here, that's got down a lot because of all the ads that cut into the videos. It's crazy. The same is happening in other social media places...constant interruptions by ads, requests for donations or sign ups or polls or on and on and then not being able to go back to where you were cut off. Today's message on here said I could only watch 3 videos because I have an ad blocker. (which I got for other sites, not here)
I like your videos and the info you share. I sometimes have to watch a video a few times because I'll miss things...you talk very fast because of all that coffee! hahaha I take notes even! So don't get discouraged about the downers. Everyone is down and it's leaking out on the web. Keep up the good work.

Yes. I still like bookmarks. I have digital books and audio books but, there are days when you want to hold a real book in your hands with a bookmark. 😊

I love red hair, always wanted it, and tried to color it red some when I was younger, but I never really got the color I wanted. If I used temporary dye it seemed to take forever to wash out and when I used permanent it seemed to fade very quickly. Years ago I gave up on dying my hair and just went with my gray and then white. Was much happier because I’m sensitive to a lot of the dye and it could get very unpleasant. When I had the salon do it we had to remember which dye I didn’t have an adverse reaction to. A few times she had to quickly put a neutralizer on it because it felt like my scalp would burst into flames. Though I love red hair, I’ve always thought you looked better as a blonde. Your complexion just looks like a blonde to me. But I’ve always felt whatever makes you happy is what color you go with.

I agree about challenges. As a working artist, I find completing challenges keeps me from painting what I want, in whatever medium I want. I end up spending the month giving my time to the challenge with no time left for me to choose what to paint - often right before bed. I know it's not required to follow the prompts or complete the challenge, but I have trouble letting myself do that! 🙂

Welcome back! I'm so glad you enjoyed your trip! It's on my list. I'm hoping you have more art retreats. I want to go, but started a new job and want to be careful about taking off time. Also, is it me or is social media not as fun as it used to be?

Glad you had a nice vacation.. i d love to do a book mark. They make great stocking stuffers or if you’re giving a book, you can include them! Thanks for explaining the threads, on Instagram, I didn’t know what they were and of course I would never click on anything. I go on Instagram to see you and other artist that I follow but mostly I go on to see picture of my children and my grandchildren. I don’t know everything changes once you get used to it and then you have to get used to something else. Anyway, I can’t wait to see the flip through of your vacation and also the flip through of your ink Tober. I never finished in Tober it just got to be too much. Have a great day. Thanks for a great chat..

I prefer reading paper books so I'm always grabbing a scrap of watercolor paper for a bookmark. I was so bummed since I'm moving this weekend I was digging things out of storage and checking for mildew and I had to toss two partially filled sketchbooks that had some mold. I really liked some of the work in them. It was painful to throw them out. 😢 Thanks Lindsay 💜

Great video as always. I'm lucky that I'm just a hobbyist so the social media impact thing doesn't really apply to me, but I appreciate it's a concern for those reliant on it for income. I do notice that I don't always see posts of artists I follow even though they've put things up.

I get so little engagement on Instagram (probably because I obstinately stick to posting photos instead of reels) these days that I didn’t even post most of my Inktober sketches this year. Funnily enough, I produced more that I liked than ever before.

Good morning. Bookmarks sound nice. My daughter uses them. I tend to listen to books more than actually read them. (I fall asleep so quickly when reading - HA!) But they would be really nice. I do like your blog post for the 'written' version of what you have going on. But I realize that it is a lot of work. I also find there is less time in the day than what I need to do everything I want to do. But that is typical for me. I have been trying so hard to 'reorganize' my time and use it to the best of my ability with also allowing me time for my own creativity. It is hard. I am glad to hear you got away for a bit. I don't ship orders in December (because things travel so slow) and look forward to those weeks 'off' from the shop where I get to enjoy the holidays, life, and do art and classes for myself. It sounds quite selfish, but it is hard when working from home and seeming like I work 7 days a week. I am always doing something for 'the business' and usually play catch-up on my days off. Anyway - good to have you back. Your hair is beautiful, by the way. I do like the softer color with your light tone. :)
