I've had my birds for a year they are still terrified of me :< trying to train my bird Jack (Since my other bird is pregnant so she won't get out of the box) he is still rlly scared of me ;w;
@@sso_pancake6430 Yes I put my finger in front of Jack a few times he won't get on he just stares at it and then he starts glaring at me , he let's me pet him now nothing else he'll only eat from my hand (He won't eat from the palm of my hand) and he'll let me pet him not a single thing else
I'm teaching my cockatiel Connie how to fetch and she knows how to do it now! Well Connie doesn't like millet but she loves food especially fruit so I give her blackberries and she can fetch now! Thanks again Elle your a good trainer! And tamer
Thanks Elle! I never did say that after watching this video months ago. I took it a step further today. Usual fetch reps.. then I added a perch a foot away from table. Did a few flight from table to perch. Then I went back to the fetching. Few fetch reps, then I simply moved behind the perch and signaled my hand.. and yay!! Now my conure is flying it to my hand. Simple! Thanks again Elle!
Another good video. I do think you should explain the concept of using a bridge especially in the initial steps of learning. Once the bird knows what you want, as ducky does here, it's no longer really needed but I continue to tell my bird 'good!' whenever he does what I ask, even if he doesn't get a treat every time.
Yes!! Thank you for this! I am really wanting to teach Louie a trick, but each time I try he gets really mad at me because I won’t give him the treat right away 😂 Maybe this will help, it’s a bit different than other vids I watched, but it just depends on Mr. Angry’s mood 🤣😆
Lol 😂🤣 try to say “good” or something like that right when Louie completes the action, that way he will learn that every time you say it he’ll get a treat. Something not specific to teaching a bird to fetch but helpful for training in general. I hope he takes to this trick 🤞
Great job teaching a bird! I never thought about trying that. Birds are so smart! kind of reminds me of teaching my labs to retrieve. Love it!!! Good job Ducky!💖🐥👏😊
I’m finally seeing this! I’ve been wanting to see it but I have been sick and really slacking my UA-cam life 😂 Great vid!! Can’t wait for Rico to learn after some practice!
Great explanation! And Haha omg Ducky is such a cute tiely, I was thinking that when she was just eating the millet and then when I saw her fetch the ball I almost died 🤣 she’s adorable ! VERY smart too!
I have a question. So I have a budgie, I’ve had her for 7-8 weeks now or so, and I’m letting her out everyday. But she’s not a fan of it, she ONLY wants to sit on me, or a perch that I hold. I need to be very close to her and always have my hand close to her if she’s on a table or my bed or any object in my room. If I’m not close enough she will fly over to me under my hair and sit there. ,or sit in my shirt. Do you have any techniques to help my budgie fly around more? I don’t clip her wings or anything, but I guess some budgies just aren’t a fan of it? Please help me find out why she doesn’t like it..
She’s probably either a more chill budgie, or a still a bit nervous. Once she gets more accustomed to her surroundings, she’ll probably fly around more. If this doesn’t happen, look at what your feeding her. If you’re over feeding her, under feeding her, or feeding her fatty foods (like seeds), she might not want to exercise much. If none of these are the case, then look at her poop. If it looks weird compared to other budgie’s poop, take her to the vet. If none of these are the case, she’s probably just a calmer bird
I have question! I am getting my first bird in a few weeks. I am getting a pink bourkie (pink parakeet) and wondering for the bird cages what should be the best bar spacing for the birds cage! Can someone please help me!!!!
I love the rolling bird at the start ha ha this is awesome my Bruce will be pleased and I just Iove birds the Rosie cheeks are awesome, thank you and I send kind blessing's to you and your family always 🙂💡🙏🌎🌕🌙✨💧❤️
It can be helpful if you’ve never tamed a bird to clip her wings in the beginning until she’s more comfortable with you. The key thing is that you’re not chasing her around the room if she tries to fly away from you, because that breaks a lot of trust and causes stress for your bird. However, you can definitely tame her without clipping her wings but it would take more time and patience. I personally have never clipped a birds wings and would recommend avoiding it if possible. Either way, you’d want to make sure you give her lots of treats like millet to build trust. To teach her to step up, encourage her by putting the treat on the other side of your hand so she has to step up or at least lean over your hand to reach it, then build from there. I will be doing a video on taming in the future :)
@@ElleAndTheBirds thank you! Im just getting nervous because i dont want to clip her wings because i feel its a very traumatic experience for a little birb, but i feel id have to the second she starts learning to fly again.
Quinnist qq you can take your tiel to the vet or a pet store to get it done. Flight is actually a very good thing for birds, but I get it if you need to clip until your bond is established.
Yesterday I got a green cheek conure after watching your conure. My conure is 3 months old and keeps on nibbling to our fingers. How can I stop his habit? Will it be stopped or not? Please help me.
