    Background Music:
    - "Westfall" and "Tavern (Tauren)" from the WoW OST

    My understanding was that anyone with a lot of vengeance in their heart could summon (or manifest subconsciously) Arikara. With that in mind, my theory is that Makaba Flathoof summoned it in vengeance for the razing of Camp Aparaje, and the target is Magatha herself, and that's why she lies about the real target and wants to stop it.

      Bringing in Makaba to the story is interesting!! I hadn't thought of him :D

    Magatha is one of those characters that is so obviously evil to us players but for some reason no one else in the Horde sees it lol.

    As a mostly Alliance player I'd never seen these quests before. What a cool quest to stash away in the Thousand Needles!

    Magatha is definitely not "painted as a Bloodhoof loyalist" in Vanilla WoW. It's no secret she's still in charge of the Grimtotems we fight all over Kalimdor, constantly sparring with Cairne over the future of the tauren. That much is spelled out in the game manual itself. She's his chief rival and allowed in Thunder Bluff ("where tauren of all tribes are welcome") BECAUSE she is so respected (as seen with people like Motega Firemane showing such deference to her).
    Will always appreciate the mystery of quests like this one though, where there's clearly more going on, but the game doesn't spell it out. I always figured Magatha was trying to save herself from Arikara given her own shady history, but the idea she potentially engineered an appearance by "the spirit of vengeance" to strike down her political rival is intriguing. Quite literally.
    🤔

    4:12 "Moving past this conversation, Horde players eventually travel to the Dark Cloud Pinnacle, summon Arikara and slay the beast" That is definitively NOT what 11-old-me remembers. I genuinly remember abandonning the question because : I died from fall, I lost my way trop the Thousand Needles, I made my way back to the Pinnacle by slaying my own race, and I fell again. This time I found a way, and died again.
    At least it gave me a very strong impression.

    me and a friend were talking about the earthmother, elune (Mu'she) and An'she, aka Azeroth, the big moon, and sun in wow lore. my friend brought up a good point. if elune and the earth mother are a thing, why is An'she not a thing? is the Sun a Naaru? great video as always. stay gold.

    • @Jediwarlock
      @Jediwarlock  19 днів тому

      Solid point! The only real evidence we have is that a dark naaru was once known as the "Dark Star" so suns/stars could be powered by Light/Naaru as well? We will have to see ;)

    I really wish they would 'retcon' the cataclysm in a sense and build a wall to undo the flood) - thousand needles had such an amazing vibe before

      Here's hoping that if they do end up doing a revamp of the world that some of the zones greatly affected by the Cataclysm are changed up! i really like your idea of somehow making a dam or wall for the zone.

  • @grafspe807
    @grafspe807 23 дні тому +2

    I always thought they would use Magatha as maybe a raid boss or at least a dungeon boss . I know in Cata she got some powerful item from the Twilight Hammer guys but im pretty sure she loses that in the Shammy campaign in Legion and her current location is unknown.
    I would be nice to see her in a future deal where she could be the final boss in a story line involving the Tauren and perhaps leading to a new dungeon in the old world

    I know this is bit of an aside, but given where things are heading in retail wow, I hope they make some Tauren npc front and center when they finally commune with the world-spirit. I mean - they have worshipped the Earth mother all this time. It would be a shame to not utilize that angle somehow and shoehorn one of their usuals (Jaina, Sylvanas, whoever) in instead.

    Hi Jedi!
    I wish there was more lore for the Grimtotem beyond just "we're bad and untrustworthy and violent for the sake of internal strife". The orcish Shadow Council has good lore for being bad. The human Defias Brotherhood has good lore for being bad. The Grimtotem? Nah.

    • @Jediwarlock
      @Jediwarlock  19 днів тому +1

      I agree! With all the conflict with the centaur there wasn't much of a reason for tauren to abandon an alliance that would help protect their land... it seems they are just being contrarians XD

  • @JohnGamingFuntime

    i mean,magatha is the reason why cairne was killed by garrosh in their fight. she was the one who coated gorehowl with the poison that would claim cairne's life. so her creating arikara to take him out would make a lot of sense. elune only knows how many times she tried to take him out that the player hasnt seen.

    • @Jediwarlock

    honestly i always figured arikara was going after magatha for the crimes of the grimtotem, or that it was manifested by her to justify taking cairne out. she schemes and lies and it was no secret shed do away with cairne if she could even before she actually did in cataclysm 🤔

    i think it could be a serpent of hakkar maybe one of the sand trolls from tanaris corrupted one of the wind serpents and the wind serpent later layed an egg which then was mistook for Arikara
    taurens sometimes mistake things for being something else like when they thought the earthmother was under desolace only to wake up princes theradras
    why i think it could be hakkar's: its RED the color of blood and same as the color of the hakkari wind serpents there are trolls in tanaris that use blood magic like the blooddrinkers and Hakkar is the blood god and is incredibley agressive and viscious so was arikara as soon as it was born also there's literally a follower of Hakkar in the dock in tanaris that is trying to summon him and tricking us in doing so also to revive hakkar we need 3 wind serpent souls so another connection to wind serpents

    • @Jediwarlock
      @Jediwarlock  19 днів тому +1

      YES! Great details to point out... wind serpents are definitely linked to Hakkar (probably most of them in a generational sense, not direct followers) and it would make sense for that troll Yeh'kinya to perhaps use another one in some sort of scheme ;) I like it!
