Now that old forester rye is a bottle I haven’t picked up for a while. Thanks for putting it back on my radar. I love it as the whiskey in a Mint Julip!
I'm a big fan of Redwood Emerald giant its my favorite with pipe dream next. And the cask strength is fantastic. Haven't picked up the bib OGD yet or the JB black but soon. The only 1792 I see is small batch but its a very easy sippper. Enjoy!!
The Jim Beam and old grandad together would set you back about $40 so not a terrible outlay. Glad to hear another person talk so fondly of Redwood! I have some old batches that they put out a while ago that I need to crack. Like old label stuff.
I bought one of those new release Evan Williams SiBs. It's become my go-to starter pour, surprisingly lots of flavor at that 86.6 proof. One of my new favorite "budget" bottles is the Four Roses Small Batch.
I am happy that most folks are able to consistently find Heaven Hill Bonded now for a great price. 1910 is a favorite of mine I have to agree with you there. Thanks for watching.
OGD bonded is a great pick and 114 which I like just a little more is one of my favorites. Was able to get Evan Single barrels a few years ago so that gives me hope we'll see them again (their bib is great as well) In NC its hard to get a lot of variety unless you want to go to a different state.
I really like all three Old Grandads. I would love to see some Old Grandad aged release. Like a 10 year. I think that would be terrific. You should hopefully see those Evan Williams crop up again sometime soon!
Good list TWC. Seems odd that Oregon, just south of WA St. only has one Doc Swinson's, their SB ($83) which I haven't tried. I just bought an OF 1897 to try it, I've only cracked it. Don't think I'll try JB Black 7 at $25 because I get KC 9 at Costco for $28, 9 yrs 100 pf, no-brainer IMO.
@@TheWhiskeyCove Not sure, but they do get things that other states don't from what I've heard. Kinda all over the map. Good thing is no secondary and no sales tax. WA state's extra liquor taxes are insane high, so I buy 90% in OR.
Nice! My Evan Williams SB is over 9yrs old and it’s a great low proof pour! Redwood Empire are all really nice! Can’t go wrong with any Doc Swinson! I’ve got two 1792 single barrels, 12yr, BinB, and full proof and they are some of my favorite non thinking pours. Cheers!
You are so lucky that you have gotten good 1792 single barrels. In 2018 and 2019 when they were available at my local stores, they were just super meh. not good at all. They were so bad that to this day stores will not get them in. They’ll get bottled and bond and full proof but not the single barrels. Also, they’ll stock small batch for days.
Its funny you say that because the full proof picks I think are just meh but I have struck gold a lot on the bonded and single barrel. Cheers to good whiskey!
Thanks for the video Patrick. I'm 100% with you on the RE Pipe Dream - delicious and I don't taste any minerality. We're very fortunate to be in the west and have this readily available at nearly every store. I think this is harder to find in some places east of the Rockies.
Love your videos, the Old Grandad Bonded is great, started tonight with the Jim Beam Black 7, great, got it for $21.
I’m so happy that Jim beam redesigned it. It’s a nice addition to my rotation.
Sagamore Double Oaked
Love to see it.
I would like to add the redwood emerald giant. People skip over this a bunch but it’s my favorite for the core lineup
You're the second person to say that but I am team pipe dream.
Rebel 6 year picked up for 39 bucks
Bargain!
As always friend a great video. I love the recommendation for old grandad bonded. This is my to go cocktail whiskey.
You know its also very good in a cocktail you are spot on Alex. Cheap and versitile!
Very good list👌🏻 we for sure have similar preferences in bourbon, this week my hidden gem is OLD FORESTER RYE 100 proof 😮💨👌🏻

I haven't had that roses for a while. I normally lean more towards the small batch select but that comes with a greater price tag.
I think Heaven Hills BIB is better than the Old Forester 1897 and I like OF! OF 1910 and their 100
Proof rye are awesome!

Good bottles, have tried all but the Doc Swenson's.
Cheers to that. Thanks for watching.
Just buy 114 and proof it down yourself and save some money
I mix OGD 114 50/50 with Ogd bib 👍 😋
Or the 80 proof and boil it up to 100 proof?

If you’re trying to save money on a bottle under 30 you’re down bad. lol
Haha
Nice fun list~ thanks for the video!
Cheers buddy!

That is nuts! Is it because Oregon is state run? I’ve been through and I got that feeling before. Very basic offerings.

Yes Oregon is a control state. We do not get everything that some distillers offer. Tho I have seen some new ones as of late.
I agree with all your choices. Nice bottles for the price. 🥃
Completely agree with this list! Great episode!

That’s a nice little pick up the Evan Williams single barrel for a 9 year old. I’m hoping to see more older releases now they are back in Colorado.

It’s such a good bottle. They got the blend just right. Not a hard one to find in Colorado and it’s aggressively priced. Cheers.
Couldnt agree more. These are sleepers for sure! So good!
Thanks for watching!
I really like Jim Beam Black 7 Year 🥃◼️👍🏻
You know the truths! Cheers Jared.
Interesting list! I’m a singe malt scotch enthusiast! Higher end expressions!
Have you tried Welsh Whiskey at all?
@@TheWhiskeyCove No I would love to! I will check to see if I can find some locally!
Thanks 🥃 Cheers
You got it Tom. Have a great weekend and Happy 4th
