I feel like people at this point are just taking for granted the G87 is ugly, too boxy, because they've heard it so much. I think it looks awesome. Reminds me of the 2002 Homage. Although i will say it looks much better in certain colors than others. Still, this gen M2 would blow the doors of 99% of cars you're likely to see on public roads, and more than a few on the track. No doubt the weight (4000 lbs!!?on a 2 series??!)is a little bit of a turn-off, but at the end of the day I think this is the best all around sports car under 100k out of Europe right now.
Did I just hear 3900lbs described as relatively lightweight? For a 2 door car that is very heavy, regardless of what it's competition weighs that is about 1000lbs over relatively lightweight and 1500lbs heavier than what I would call a lightweight car. I would describe it as a heavyweight car that is down nearly 100hp from a similarly sized American pony car.
It’s on par, weight wise, with a Mustang or Camaro, and similar power to their base V8s. Question is whether you want American or German. And this should handle better.

I just traded in my F87 M2. This is what I see when I look at the new M2: Pros: Still has a manual. Still drives great. Has much more power. Better interior. Looks good in Zandvoort Blue and Black. You can own the last manual transmission BMW. Cons: Looks like trash in the other colors. Moves to M4 platform, so it is now overweight, and cancels out the extra power. Stock exhaust is not great (I owned a BMW Performance Package that upgraded the exhaust.) The back seat is now smaller, even though the car got bigger. The Supra Manual is its main competition, and the Supra is much sexier, and less expensive. Supra is over 600 lbs lighter, so the less power evens out. And the Supra has more cache on the street. Not an easy decision. I'll get one of them for Christmas. Merry Christmas to my punk ass!🎄
The B58 is awesome (I have an F22 M240) ... but its not the S58. The Supra's chassis also a step down. Its not an M Chassis. Personally, I am not a fan of the looks of the Supra for me to own. It draws too much attention for what I want. But I love seeing other people drive them, if that makes sense. I prefer the M2's look as a vehicle I would want to own as it is a tad more subtle. If you want to throw the car around and have an attention grabbing look, yeah, the Supra would probably be better. If you want to hug corners and go fast on fun curvy roads or tracks with a car that most people wouldn't even recognize as being special based on looks, then the M2 is the clear answer.
@@TheMarkcu24 Is the M240 relaxing to drive in comfort mode? I'm looking for something than can corner carve, while not beating me up on long trips - ready to move on from 370z. My girl has an older E60 - I drive it a few times and it's just RELAXING to be inside.

I don't think bmw uses composite for the hood and fenders. Most likely they are aluminum. If you think about it, it would probably cost more to build them in composite. The downside to composite I believe is they are heavier then alluminum and the body gaps seem to be less uniform but that could be just a build quality issue
They used to laugh at the RC-F for being 3800 pounds. At least it had a 5.0 liter V8 and 478 HP. But I really like the M2. For $65k I think it’s a bargain. It’s on my short list.
That's a heavy sports car by any standard. I'm a former E36 M guy. Chunky front end looks video game contrived. I get BMW going for the Gen Z and Millennial market. That's where the money is now.
I like automatic cars, today an automatic gear is quicker than a manual one. Mat of Carwow, ran 0-60 in 3.87 sec, on a BMW M2, so we can say this car is quite quick, but in any case, I would prefer a Porsche Cayman, GT4 or RS4 perhaps? The Brooklin grey color is really meh, the red one is much better and appealing. Thanks for the video.
I'm ok with the looks but that weight is no bueno. I'd probably go G82 if I were to buy a new bmw but honestly I'm either keeping both my E92 M3 and F87 M2 or trading both for a 911. BMW's direction is just not appealing to me anymore 😢
Manufactures need to stop with the rollout garbage. Here’s your 0-60 time with a head start. Why not do a 0-60 time with a 10 foot roll out then? Should be from a dead stop to 60.
I hear there is a two year backlog. Not sure why these OEMs pay to have journalists come to press events only to make a few thousand a vehicle while the dealer network plays games and markups. In an automatic the car controls you, in a manual you control the car. If you are and old man with knee pain then go for the automatic.
