Thank you for playing man! I appreciate the feedback and I'm for sure porting some of the DLC containing the other playable characters in the future. May also take a jab at making my own layouts for these stages and see what I can come up with for these other characters that are barely used. Cheers!
I feel like a mode that you unlock after completing the game would work best, that way it's still faithful to the original 06 in a normal playthrough but say after the game is completed, you unlock a mode that lets you character select as any character and play as them throughout the whole level, but the design is modified for each character to fit them.
@@Pariah6950 you know , well project 06 is a fantastic game on its own , it's still some what a solid 3D sonic game but absolutely enjoyable thanks to the control and movement , neverthless , there are still games out there such as sonic utopia , spark the electric jester 3 , and this one a lot of people sleep on it , Sonic World DX that is a fantastic master piece of fan made 3D sonic games especially with the recently released version 1.1 that made substential changes in my openion even when it come to drift mechanic , all of those has shown a lot more potentiel with what could be done with sonic's game play and level design when it comes to 3D fast paced platformer , and sonic project 06 from my perspective at least manages to be on par with those games in term of controls and mouvement
5:34 Really cool how the lava is changed to gradual damage rather than a single knockdown ringloss, I want this done in every game now, unless it's designed to be an instant death.
I like even more how the damage is just fast enough to cause panic and also fast enough to basically be a ring penalty if you don't get out fast enough
@@upscale9109 they really did good with the panic aspect of the lava. it's got a little quicksand animation so you can see yourself dying and it nerfs your ground speed so you feel like you NEED to jump out of it
One thing i really like especially for Shadow is how they made it actually fun to do score attack runs. With his new moveset you can go for pretty high scores if you can link enemy defeats without touching the ground.
I personally always use the straight jump dash in score runs, I just find it to be much more reliable than the legacy dash, which is better for speedruning
man, i'm so glad chaosx and his team have fully realized what sonic team wanted sonic 06 to be (well not FULLY yet, there's gonna be even more with the other aspects of the game) this game has so much potential, and i'm glad p-06 makes that potential shine i'm proud to call this the TRUE adventure 3 that we deserved since like shadow the hedgehog lol
I really doubt work is going to continue on the project All that's left are things like the hub world, story, and bosses, and that would be a lot more work to implement than it's probably worth
@@evdestroy5304 Can you read? You basically just restated what I said. Yes Chaos does the vast majority of the work but the guy said he had no team at all which is simply not true. Little help or not more than Chaosx alone contributed to the project.
I feel like you know this and are just joking but for people that don’t know, Shadow’s Inhibitor Rings come from the Sonic X anime where they were a key power-up (and weakness since they tire him out much faster when they are removed) over Sonic and were brought into Sonic 06 because of how popular that gimmick was.
I thought that was a Sonic Adventure 2 thing first. Didn't he remove his inhibitor rings at the end of the Biolizard fight to help Super Sonic Chaos Control the ARK back into position?
@@Rman1228 Nope. Rewatch it. He never takes them off. As far as SA2 was concerned, those rings were just cosmetic. Even as late as Shadow the Hedgehog game never shows him taking them off. Sonic X added that moment to it and it makes it astronomically cooler and Sonic 06 got that moment from there.
@@TragicKF Interesting how the retroactive implementation of Shadow's inhibitor made his sacrifice in SA2 make more sense, and give it more nuance. Shadow knew that by removing his limiters, there was a high likelihood of him dying. But he still chose to do it anyway.
@@Rman1228 No that happened only in the Sonic X version. The inhibitor rings there were added to replace the games own reason that being the final prove that Sonic is better than Shadow as Shadow was way to quickly running out of energy (its something said a few minutes into the fight) because Sonic X for some reason wanted Shadow to be superior to Sonic to the very end which is the exact opposite of what the game did.
Great video my man! I've got another little tidbit for you. If Shadow wasn't already cool enough, you can tornado kick out of a spin dash. I recommend trying it in Aquatic Base ;)
Question: can blaze's spinning claw stand on lava in flame core without hurting her? Also, could you ask chaosx to give blaze more of the beyblade physics like hitting the wall or enemies to increase momentum also weakens the stamina and home in on enemies like silver's psychic shots but on the ground. That would be pretty cool. Right?
Seeing you gush about P-06 gives me life to a degree. If there were anything that could be added (Besides the biggest thing for some being the Bosses), I'd actually wanna see them touch the DLC like Team Attack Amigo (Which admittedly does require a Boss, but I really would not miss avoiding a fight with the Egg Genesis again), if only so I can play more of Tails and Omega (Heck, maybe even have it where Team Attack Amigo has a Character Selection Mode a la Wily's Tower from Mega Man: The Wily Wars so we can choose who to bring in and where so we can try level traversal as other characters with their own series of challenges, like Flying Challenges where you wanna Tail Bounce with Tails, Combat Rooms with Characters like Knuckles, etc.) It is kind of depressing that the best form for so many of the characters as of late for Sonic in 3D really is only in this fan remake, but I am glad that such a claim can be said where there's a game that for the most part has a good chunk of the Sonic cast and I'd wanna go back for more
Mixing and matching different characters would be really cool, especially since it'd finally give us a chance to use Sonic, Shadow, and Silver all in the same level.
The evolution of a broken game. Unlike Sega, we do are best to learn from the mistakes of the past to better our present and move forward to the future.
I kinda feel bad for sonic team tbh sega is always rushing them to release games luckily though it seems they gave sonic team a larger budget and I think some more time so maybe they can finish games faster and have them be fully realized
This is the first Pariah video I watched where it didn't sound like he had to go "lawyer mode" to defend something. It sounds like you had genuine fun playing this game. Glad it made you happy.
I'd like for Blaze to have her spin attack to work the same as Pac-Man's trail in World 3 where if you close the circle, the enemies in it will be engulfed in flames
You mean her fire skirt? So like, holding the attack button down and drawing a circle around enemies to cause all of the one's inside to receive fire damage? That sounds so cool!
The Town Missions should have a place in P-06 now that everything is fun to blast through, I can see ChaosX changing some of the missions to utilise the gems, characters or abilities more to make it more interesting.
Wonderful video!! P-06 has really restored my love for 3D Sonic, it's just so fun! From speed running, to score attack! And I just wanted to mention that with Shadow, you do not need to be in Chaos Boost lv2 to do damage with Chaos Spear. In base form with Shadow, you can charge up the chaos spear for like half a second and throw up to 5 spears that deal damage! It's very nice for score attack too because you can pause the point tally with it by killing enemies with it and then jumping or spindashing after you land to further extend combos.
I didn't think Rob Paulsen would get around to talking about P-06 but I enjoyed listening to the video and learning things I didn't even know about. God bless
Man, I never thought I'd see the day when Rob Paulsen, one of my favorite actors would be gushing about Sonic. Thank you mr Paulsen for breaking down the game.
20:11 just a smol correction the uninhibited mode wasnt just an out of nowhere thing in 06 that just happens. it was heavily implied he released his ring inhibiters in the end of adventure 2 but devs forgot to actually take the rings off his model at that time hence why he looked like he got exhausted for seemingly no reason and presumably died at the end of sa2 just wanted to clear that up.
not only do they not take them off in SA2 but they also never ever EVER mention the inhibitor rings by word, ever. Not even IN Sonic 06 did they mention them by word, they just show him using them. So no, unfortunately, that's not correct either. It literally came up out of nowhere
Yeah, nah. Super Shadow is a diffrent model, they literally had to leave the rings there on purpose(with the exception of the scene where he shouldn't have one of the rings anymore, but that's more of a "they forgot/didn't bother to make a second version for like 4 seconds"). I genuinely don't understand the whole "we need a seperate reason for the end of SA2 to make sense" in the community. Sonic clean as day states physical damage from overextending on Superform. How would he know? Probably from earlier usages. Why is he not affected in the game? Probably because he already got used to it, minimizing the strain, that's usually how resistances work. (The major issue being that Shadow did not die of course, but that is why the one in future games being the original and not some kind of prototype-android is a retconny mess. )
@@lpfan4491 super shadow was what i was also referring to i thought i made that clear lol. (he still went uninhibited too) i also think you completely misinterpreted what i actually meant and yes i know all of this thats why i left it short and sweet.
@@lpfan4491 also to add on this i was speaking on the casual perspective for people who arent as well verse on the lore and reasoning behind why things are the way they are compared to me so yeah.
I love how, as amy, holding the the hammer spin for a long time causes her to become dizzy. Like it's a super small detail but just fits the character so much. 😍
I think what ChaosX did when it came to the characters gameplay is that he knew exactly what made the characters them and further expanded on what they had to offer. It feels like every character did a Pokemon and evolved from their previous gameplay or in Amy's case renewed the vision for what her gameplay should be. Amy is by far the biggest improvement because it gave her a sense of identity gameplay wise, or at least revitalized it. I also think that is how she should be able to go fast is with the use of her hammer, like she can be slower generally speaking, but fast enough to keep up, but in order to reach that same speed as others or on her own terms she must use her hammer to interact with the environment, and to me this is the purpose Amy's hammer should serve. This is why I think it was great in Advance for the same reason. And using the hammer jump to gain height off enemies could have potential for fun air control. I think her Propeller Hammer from Heroes/Generations should return or make it to where her invisibility is tied into her use of tarot cards. As a side note, Amy was playable in 3 levels in Retail 06, not 1. With Blaze, while she was the only good character in Retail 06 besides Sonic, the biggest improvements made to her was the hitbox of her moves, her homing attack could be too wild at times and her fire tornado had an inconsistent hitbox where you could sometimes just take damage hitting enemies. I still prefer Knuckles in Adventure 2, mainly because of how fast the drill is. But he's great here. Rouge is absolutely the best she's been in 3D and the same goes for Tails.
The 1 BIG issue I have is how some of the characters control. Sonic, Tails(in flight), & Silver (at full speed float) all feel too loose to an unresponsive degree. I don't feel connected to their actions unlike the og game. While arguable retail 06 was too stiff/restrictive once I got used to it I knew wut action would do wut where & felt near full control 95% of the time. in P-06 Sonic feels like he's on Ice or is floatin off wit the wind like a feather leavin my grasp, as I said before tails' flight jus feels unresponsive & I can't get a grip on how it works, & Silver speeds up WAY TOO FAST when he transitions to his float animation almost immediately & throws me off almost every time(it should be more gradual I feel). I jus think somethin tighter would be better cus the smoothness while nice is too much in the opposite direction to retail(idk y ppl always take extremes for wut only needs a small adjustment to somewhere in the middle but I think it's dumb) . I have other issues but that's my biggest 1 & it's still great overall. Great analysis as usual u even changed my mind on some stuff
20:03 The Inhibitor rings weren't made up in Sonic 06. In SA2 it was somewhat implied that Shadow removed his rings against the Final Hazzard, but that's a bit iffy. Though, in Sonic-X Shadow did remove his Inhibitor Rings during the Re-creation of the Final Hazard battle in the SA2 Arc and would have his rings removed numerous times through the rest of the series. So, to sum up, the rings weren't a Sonic 06 Deus-ex-Machina, they were a pre-existing aspect of Shadow.
Watch his 06 story video. Sonic X (and the comics) establish the concept of inhibitor rings and use them, and it's really cool, but those are separate continuities. The game continuity is not related to either of the other ones, so putting inhibitor rings here and never elsewhere in any other game, also never mentioning them by word of mouth, from the perspective of the game continuity, they DO come out of absolutely nowhere. Yes, as an established character in the franchise, Shadow has inhibitor rings, but in the games alone, this is a deus ex machina. None of the games before or after 06 or even the handhelds ever show or mention inhibitor rings ever again.
@@johnnycakemusic4069🤔maybe the uninhibited mode works different in the games compared to sonic x and archie sonic where removing the inhibitor rings will automatically give shadow huge power boost that drains his body. In sa2, shadow was in his super form and his rings were removed as held by sonic. In 06, when shadow took off the rings, all the mephiles clones attacked first and then a burst of power emerged into shadow's uninhibited mode. Making it more accurate to p-06's gameplay. So this means that base shadow in the games has a limit to how much energy he can obtain and convert into his power from outside resources, and it's only by removing his rings can shadow obtain more energy than he can take. But instead of just draining shadow down as it last, he can maintain the unhinged state by collecting more energy and keeping the state running. Or atleast that's just my theory. What do you think?
While I agree in that the characters now feel very under-utilized, I wouldn't be willing to sacrifice the inclusion of Town Missions for their sake... not only because a functional Overworld is the ONLY thing P-06 lacks in comparison to Retail 06... but, P-06 has a mod/level manager to let you play custom stages, and those could be designed around these characters and whatnot, there's also a character select thingy which allows you to play as any character at any time On the other hand, I don't recall the Town Missions having a template like that in P-06... I mean, even without Town Missions, it would be great to get the Overworld and stuff because, again, it would make P-06 feel more like Sonic Adventure... I hear the next update will be more focused on the bosses, though, so I'm excited to see how that'll turn out.
The next update is actually focused in the Last Story segment of the game (including the Solaris fight). After that, THEN we'll be getting a proper Adaptation of the 06 bosses).
@@DLxxx I mean ChaosX also has a tendency to change his mind (and he is entirely entitled to do so of cause). So I do think I ones saw him write that both would come in the same update but perhaps he already has changed his opinion again since than after realizing how much work that actually would be going to be.
@@rynobehnke8289 I could see that being the case too! I guess there's no real way to know where he stands for sure. I guess it's best to just view it as "whatever happens happens."
Yup no idea why he just pretended that wasn't the case. They were just taking a cool concept from the show that they knew fans liked and incorporating it into the games. It falls perfectly in line with his other Chaos abilities.
@@felipe_drawmania1604 So? you could say the exact same thing about hyper sonic, yet people still ask for it to this day. The reason it probably hasn't appeared since is because Sega are cowards that don't want to bring up 06, either that or maybe because Shadow has literally been irrelevant ever since that game. Shadow's inhibitor rings in 06 are swag as hell, and makes him different than Sonic.
@@hundredpercentfaxspitting It's because Sonic X is noncanon, so that was the first time he used it in a game, and it kinda came off as a Deus Ex Machina.
It's awesome that ChaosX saw the potential in '06 and put in the effort to bring it to it's fullest potential, and now with it at the level it is now, others can look at it and see that it has even more potential. Sonic 06 was already brought to its highest level with P'06, but P'06 still has leagues of potential left to strive for.
@@TheCburg10I think it's the Havok engine and other technical elements associated with it that took a long time to come to PC. The interesting thing is that Project-06 is technically not the same game because besides the assets and geometrys from 2006, everything's in the Unity Engine.
Absolutely love Sonic Project-06, and I really hate to be saying this, but it ain’t truly perfect until it’s truly complete. - Bosses - Last Story - Hub World - Missions - Story Mode It’s pretty damn close to perfection, but it just isn’t there yet. When that day comes, the fanbase will finally be at rest for Sonic 2006’s crimes.
It’s a shame they’ll most likely stop at the bosses and not port over the hub world/story progression but I understand that’s the part of the game people like the least and porting those over would most likely require more TLC to match the quality of the stages. Either way, I’m so happy this exists and we can now appreciate 06 for what was intended.
To be fair I never really confirmed it as like "Yes, I'm gonna do it", I've mostly left it ambiguous, in the air, to be considered. I'm interested in the concept of the hub world and how much can I push them for the better, and how I find the story to be redeemable just by changing and moving things around. But those require gargantuan amounts of work, so up to this point I'm not sure if I'll give it my attempt. So far I am compromising to porting the bosses, the last episode and team attack amigo, whatever comes next is still to be decided.
I can see custom levels being added to this just like people have done with Generations or Adventure. We already have someone recreating Secret Rings thru his fan remake so i guess ur wish will be granted sooner than you think
YOOOOO I DID NOT REALIZE SILVER'S COOLDOWN WAS ACTUALLY USEFUL, like legit the second I COULD do a PSI blast, I absolutely would if there was more than one enemy near me, but holy shit, filling the bar and using the cooldown like the cooldown on Team Blast in Heroes looks so damn cool, I gotta try that now
Any plans to touch on Sonic Robo Blast 2? It's likely the fangame with the longest development time, and at this point is a monster of a game. I'd love to hear what you think about it and how you think it stacks up to the official games.

I’ve viewed P-06 as a net positive. It gives the people that didn’t like 06 (which I assume is the majority) the experience they desire. It also give the people who actually liked 06 (like myself) even more stuff
Project-06 is what we hoped 2006 to be and then some. If they can get in the story mode with those redone cutscenes like that Wave Ocean one and hubworlds after the End of the World update, you'd have no reason to go back to Retail 2006 since Project-06 just improves everything and Legacy of Solaris already exists for those looking for that more true 2006 experience without the glitches.
For my money (which is $0 because this is a free fan remake), Project 06 is my personal favorite 3D Sonic game and possibly my favorite Sonic game in general, not just 3D. The only real competition for me is Sonic Generations, which is a PHENOMENAL game in its own right. This game wins out for me personally because, unlike you, I friggin LOVE both time attack and score attack. To me, score attack is like a core part of the Adventure era games (despite SA1 not having it at all). It’s the reason I do disagree with you on your take about SA2 (tho I do understand why you feel the way you do about that game). And like you said, P-06 takes all of the best parts of all of the previous Sonic titles and just expands upon those things in incredibly satisfying ways. ChaosX even made the physics feel like an evolution off of Shadow the Hedgehog’s physics by slowing the speed down and reimplementing the spindash in all its glory from SA1. For me, this is just the Adventure era perfected, and while I love Generations and think it is the best OFFICIAL 3D Sonic title, this game just has what that game has (minus fun 2D gameplay) and more with the return of those amazing Adventure controls in the best form they’ve ever been.
I think it's interesting hearing this and how much of P-06 has the best features or whatever of a sonic game, and to think that's what Sonic 06 was going to have had it been finished XD 06 really is the best game in the series in a sense
The 06 DLC wasn't mind-blowing or anything, but the Team Attack Amigo stages were pretty solid imo. If Chaos ever decides to add them it might help with issue of characters like Amy being underutilized.
This project just confirms what fans have been saying for over a decade. The game had a lot of potential. This fan project has finally realized it. Once the project is finished and optomized it's over for the original game, might as well make P-06 official.
I agree! I really want all the other secondary characters to have their own levels, like if they made new layouts of these pre-existing levels specifically designed for, say Knuckles, or Amy, that would be awesome. Another thing that would be cool is if they made like, an original fangame based off the same engine, with like an original story and levels. That would be AWESOME!!! They could incorporate all the existing characters in project 06, and then add their own original characters with their own unique gameplay styles! AAA THE POTENTIAL I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!
Thanks, man I had no idea about this remake. when I played it as a child I didn't remember all these problems just the nostalgia of the cut scene and fast-paste gameplay and music. I think the only thing I really remember was the long Loading screens, Thanks again for drawing this to my attention.
I'm really interested in your thoughts on Sonic GT if you've ever played it. It's another fan game that's really good, really gets a lot of the speed and style feel right IMO
Sonic 06 is and will likely always be my favourite Sonic game. It was the final evolution of the adventure formula that had been built up from SA 1 through Shadow. If this game got to be Sonic 07, Sonic might have ended up so much better off then these days. Frontiers kinda being the exception.
"The level design was the best part of Sonic 06" The soundtrack: "Am I a joke to you?" Also, you don't fight Chaos 1 as Super Sonic in Adventure 1, you fight Perfect Chaos as Super Sonic. Also, Shadow's bracelets (and anklets) being inhibitors was actually shown in Sonic X, during the Adventure 2 arc.
shadow taking off his limiter bracelets is actually something well established in the comic universe, and it was honestly nice to see that they brought it over into the video games. Deus ex bracelets is canon with the lore.
TBH, Sonic 06 wasn't a bad game, it has potential that was wasted due to how bad the problems were in it's sorry state, it had it's ups like with it's great level designs and a fantastic soundtrack, but the problems far outweighed what good the game had. If anything, Sonic 06 was a better game than Sonic Forces and that game had far worse problems, especially far too short levels and the level designs didn't have varied designs like multiple pathways as other 3D Sonic games did, plus the game was just far too easy. I am glad ChaosX and his team are dedicated to making Sonic 06 a redemption story in gaming, I am looking forward to seeing what ChaosX has in store for the future of this project.
If Project 06 got a bunch of custom levels, it would probably overtake Sonic Robo Blast 2 as my favorite Sonic game. And I would really like the cutscenes added as well, I'm one of the few people that enjoy the story.
man loved the video! i was thinking the same thing about making a whole new game. i wish this was an official project, it’d be so dope to have these characters as their best selves officially. would also be dope to see the chaotix or somehow for them to implement heroes mechanics.
Honestly Chaos X has massively improved this game when it comes to gameplay, in game cutscenes and graphics. Obviously, there's no fixing the lame story imo, it's there. And if he added the extra dlc levels and/or boss fights but improved, that'd be just as awesome. But one this I would LOVE to see, is if him and other talented individuals, remade the cutscenes. I've see his Twitter of 06 characters interaction from specific scenes (like when Sonic runs into Silver again) and the expression from these characters look amazing. I wouldn't mind waiting another year or 2 or even 3, if he (along with help if needed) decide to remake these cutscenes and add more personality into it. Pipe dream ik, but jeez that'd be freaking amazing 😊
A small note here: There is one thing added with Blaze: A triple jump. If you do a double jump, then press triangle then the jump button again right away, she does another jump with a different animation. Its a weird ass input but it allows for so much creativity in chaining enemies together.
the only thing i would say is worth visiting original 06 for is the boss fights and the lore or if you want to compare to how bad it is in comparison to p-06. i played the of game first and trust me when i say p-06 is so much more enjoyable when you have a taste of the shit that 06 is. it's like stepping out of an icebath and going straight to a sauna it is incredible. the lore of 06 is honestly amazing (minus sonics episode sorta, the elise stuff is super weird and not all that enjoyable) but to be fair, you can just find on youtube all the 06 cutscenes and boss battles and then play p-06 for the episodes. it works really well that way aswell because you're not missing out on the lore that way! also chaosx is making the boss-fights so you can just wait for that aswell, no idea if they'll redo the episodes aswell but i hope they do.
Why doesn't nobody remember chaos lance from the original 😭 You could charge it up and throw multiple chaos lances that exploded on impact. Sure it was pretty much useless since it didn't automatically target enemies, but it was still pretty cool.
Ikr? It's like if a part of chaos blast turned into a lance. And throw it like valkyrie gloria's ult. skill in hi3. Okay, I'm just exaggerating chaos lance than what it really is, but yeah this move really deserves more praise.
I just want to say that Blaze's spin attack is very similar to Amy's spin attack. Only, I'd actually argue I like Amy's spin attack more because after a while it causes her to get dizzy, which is both a way to balance the ability, and just something very cute and funny at the same time.
Honestly, one thing I can see is after clearing a stage or story, you could get a tag-team amigo mechanic like they apparently planned on for the original, with being able to switch characters and play them through any level. Tails and Knuckles are canonically "there" with Sonic at White Acropolis, so seeing players just straight up be able to swap between the characters on an Amigo Mode kinda thing like the game's a Sonic Heroes that doesn't kneecap the individual characters would be a fun unlockable.
I respectfully disagree regarding Sonic 06, just slightly. While Project 06 has faster gameplay and QOL improvements, I still frequently pop in my disc of Sonic 06 and play through the levels, last story and DLC. I will also weigh in and say that the dlc is spectacular in its own way, team attack amigo features the best amigo characters from every campaign and puts them in an almost literal backwards level design which I have a lot of fun speed running. I don’t play the boss rush as much because even for me that is too many loading screens but there is still fun to be had in them. And the very hard stages for the 3 hedgehogs is an absolute blast, to be fair, Sonics very hard stages are the most tame but that’s fine with me, it still has unique concepts. Shadow and silvers very hard stages are phenomenal however, with shadow swapping between rouge and omega to complete parts of the levels like it’s Sonic Heroes, and Silvers stages really play into his gameplay and puzzle solving elements which I adore a lot. I don’t really have difficulty going back and forth between S06 and P06 as I enjoy the gameplay in both for entirely different reasons. I almost treat the two as different games in terms of their direction. But I do want to clarify, this is not an attack on your video, your praises and critiques are fair and I understand why people would like to leave behind S06, being the dead horse that it is. But I wanted to weigh in my opinion is all, for people to give both S06 and P06 a shot to reflect on the past while embracing what we have now. This was an amazing video analysis and I am looking forward to more of your content!
i love this project and have played the shadow update relentlesly, but for some reason i cant play the new silver update (controls don't function, not through steam, not trough controller emulation, not through switching controllers, nothing seems to work, the best i've gotten is having the A-button be "start", i dont get it). i do like every improvement that was made, awesome stuff, perhaps the only thing its missing is keybindings/re-binding controls.
I feel like you should make a top 5 or 10 list of the most wonderful things we got from Sonic's community which would range from fan games, fan remakes, improvement projects like P-06, new game series like Freedom Planet and Spark the Electric Jester, or fan continuations of canceled series like Sonic SatAM season 3 from Team S3ason and Archie Sonic Online. I also would say this is a success for SEGA too and thank SEGA for not stepping in and shutting down those projects like how Nintendo does.
@@leonardoalvarenga7572 I may find that hard to believe. Also, I'm aware of the controversy behind Omens. When I think of a very good 3D Sonic game or a fangame, I think of Sonic GT, Sonic Robo Blast 2, and Project 06. There is also Spark the Electric Jester 2 and 3 and Cloudbuilt. Just saying.
It'd be cool to see your runs of the stages in P06 like you did with the Frontiers Arcade mode! It's so electrifying to watch, especially with the gems opening up so many cool and unique gameplay possibilities.
Shadows speed is effectively tied to chaos boost. Without it he actually feels kinda slow and awkward but with it you start teleporting like crazy using enemies to gain speed its awesome. Its genius to basically tie his combat to his speed moreso then just using a basic homing attack on enemies to get over a ledge or whatever
Ayy sick vid man, as a p-06 speedrunner this update is full of really good shit, (minus some nerfs to sonic…) but something cool with blaze is you can triple jump by fire clawing in the air after a Jump canceling it the you can jump again!
Incredible analysis. You summarized the sentiment we've all been feeling about P-06 perfectly. Love to see when you cover this game. It truly has become the definitive 3D Sonic experience, and I am beyond grateful for it! Also, I haven't subscribed to you yet?! Let me fix that real quick. Lol.
When I realized someone was actually suggesting to play the original Sonic 2006 I was about to close the video, but I'm glad I stayed a little longer 😅😂
I feel like playing 06 first would actually be a good thing, just so that way when you start playing Project 06, you get this sense of joy and relief once you start playing it because everything that you've hated has been fixed. You don't even need to play the entire game. One level is enough for you to just quit and go to Project 06 just so you can get a better experience. I've played Sonic 06 once, and just could not finish just because of how annoying and frustrating it was. Playing the project made me feel like my entire existance has been restored. It is both the worst, and best feeling you could ever get for playing a game and mod.
Man, that's amazing! It looks like it moves like Sonic! Sonic fans are something else, man. I wish this had been the game we'd gotten in 2006. Or 2007, since they would've needed the time to make it properly.
So, here are some anecdotes from my point of view… 1. Minor complaint, but I think it’d be nice if Shadow’s spin kick combo move could be ported over to Sonic’s move pool as well; Aside from the fact it just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to have it be exclusive to Shadow, it would also just let Sonic retain more speed when tackling enemies. Not to mention that if you were to combine with the tornado-generating ability of the green gem, you could basically give Sonic the ability to spawn highly-mobile mini-tornadoes that would make dealing with large groups of enemies that much more interesting (and a faster process overall). 2. For me, Blaze - as she currently plays - is in a perfectly fine spot. And while I’m quite certain that there are plenty of other cool ideas for moves and abilities that people could come up with to further enhance her overall gameplay…at the same time, I personally don’t really see it as an absolute necessity. 3. With regards to your spiel at the end about wanting to see ChaosX and his crew give more levels to the other characters, I generally agree. However, if I may be so ambitious/demanding…I’d actually like to see ChaosX and Co. go and make a completely original Sonic fan game. Beyond the fact that being eternally stuck in the shadow of an old-ass Sonic game is inherently limiting in terms of “what can you do to make this particular game awesome and fresh while still being respectful to the original vision”, there’s also just the fact that there are so many potential opportunities presented by the base gameplay styles in 06 that creating a new and unique experience using one of those gameplay styles as a basic framework to build off of seems like a total no-brainer. With the only issue being whether or not ChaosX and Crew choose to take advantage of that potential. Like, for example, what if you took the freeform scavenger hunt-style gameplay of Rouge, and blew that out into a Stealth/Action/Platformer hybrid game, complete with an original story and extra mechanics unique to that particular game? What about a Silver spinoff game that takes his Telekinetic abilities and expands upon them in a similar manner to Cole MacGrath’s electricity powers in the inFamous games developed by Sucker Punch during the late 2000s? How about a sequel to the Shadow the Hedgehog game that takes the morality system and revises it/expands upon it so that it not only works within the context of that game’s story, but also creates both unique gameplay mechanics/opportunities AND gives Shadow a chance to let us see what things are like as a GUN agent, and how he’s always walking that fine line between being the hero he wants/needs to be and fulfilling the demands of those who would use him to bring harm to others? You see what I’m getting at here? There’s so many opportunities to take the ideas from both 06 and previous games and expand upon them in ways we know SEGA would likely never greenlight. And it feels like all of that potential is being squandered/left to waste simply because ChaosX and Co. is currently only known as “those guys who remade an old Sonic game from the ground up to make it a genuinely good game.”
Honestly, Sonic chars designs where great and now with the control mechanics on this makes this the greatest Sonic game of all time with Project Sonic 06
I find random keys for Rouge to be a downgrade. I liked that they were in constant places and I could focus on execution of movement instead of wandering around waiting for beep.
It always baffled me how a lot of sonic fans flinched at the idea of a official Sonic 06 remake saying that “it won’t fix the game” Bro what Sonic 06 could have been the best sonic game if SEGA let Sonic Team actually finish it, and p06 is definitive proof of that. Maybe SEGA wouldn’t overhaul the game to the extent that ChaosX did but they would still be able to make it a fun game that would be worthy of being referred to as Sonic Adventure 3
I rented a virtual machine just to play p06 awhile back because I thought the videos exaggerated how good it felt... and boy was I wrong. I've played every 3d sonic and none of them feel as smooth and consistent as this one with every single character
Thank you for playing man! I appreciate the feedback and I'm for sure porting some of the DLC containing the other playable characters in the future. May also take a jab at making my own layouts for these stages and see what I can come up with for these other characters that are barely used.
Cheers!
Awesome. Looking forward to it. Keep up the good work!
Awesome
I feel like a mode that you unlock after completing the game would work best, that way it's still faithful to the original 06 in a normal playthrough but say after the game is completed, you unlock a mode that lets you character select as any character and play as them throughout the whole level, but the design is modified for each character to fit them.
Just my idea though, it's your decision
I can't wait to see how you'll fix the bosses and fully implement the campaign
Shit gunna be legendary
I just realized that the acronym for Sonic Was Always Good is SWAG, reading the description. What a fitting name lol.
So for Zelda it's ....ZWAG?

The exaggerated swagger of a blue hedgehog
OH YEAH BABY! SWAG!!
SWAG should be a Score Rating in P-06 if you reach the highest Score Combo
Isn't that an abbreviation, not an acronym? Oh well, you're not wrong, its fire 🔥
I'm sorry, there's still no Sonic Man so it's not the definitive way to play Sonic 06
What we need is a Sonic Man skin for Sonic as a mod.

Really cool how the lava is changed to gradual damage rather than a single knockdown ringloss, I want this done in every game now, unless it's designed to be an instant death.
I like even more how the damage is just fast enough to cause panic and also fast enough to basically be a ring penalty if you don't get out fast enough

I mean, Lore/Story wise Heroes, Shadow and 06 as a whole can be considered Sonic Adventure 3
@Devdog It is ChaosX's project. The rest have contributed in minor ways, but 90% of it is ChaosX
I really doubt work is going to continue on the project
All that's left are things like the hub world, story, and bosses, and that would be a lot more work to implement than it's probably worth
@@evdestroy5304 Can you read? You basically just restated what I said. Yes Chaos does the vast majority of the work but the guy said he had no team at all which is simply not true. Little help or not more than Chaosx alone contributed to the project.

Yeah if you tap it stuns, hold to kill
@@Rman1228
No that happened only in the Sonic X version.
I thought they were also briefly mentioned in the ending to SA2
If there were anything that could be added (Besides the biggest thing for some being the Bosses), I'd actually wanna see them touch the DLC like Team Attack Amigo (Which admittedly does require a Boss, but I really would not miss avoiding a fight with the Egg Genesis again), if only so I can play more of Tails and Omega (Heck, maybe even have it where Team Attack Amigo has a Character Selection Mode a la Wily's Tower from Mega Man: The Wily Wars so we can choose who to bring in and where so we can try level traversal as other characters with their own series of challenges, like Flying Challenges where you wanna Tail Bounce with Tails, Combat Rooms with Characters like Knuckles, etc.)
It is kind of depressing that the best form for so many of the characters as of late for Sonic in 3D really is only in this fan remake, but I am glad that such a claim can be said where there's a game that for the most part has a good chunk of the Sonic cast and I'd wanna go back for more
Mixing and matching different characters would be really cool, especially since it'd finally give us a chance to use Sonic, Shadow, and Silver all in the same level.
>Best form for so many of the characters
That's cute
Or maybe we could have a revamped version of Team Attack Amigo that focuses on Tails, Knuckles, Rouge, Omega, Blaze, and Amy.
"We"? Don't take credit for that, we didn't do crap, all of this was thanks to chaos x and his team, they passed years working on this project.

So to stay on Sonic therms you want Blaze to get a fire Cyloop.
Thats why it's shown in the Sonic X anime
not only do they not take them off in SA2 but they also never ever EVER mention the inhibitor rings by word, ever.
(he still went uninhibited too)

Rouge is absolutely the best she's been in 3D and the same goes for Tails.
hi, i didn’t know the silver update already came out, thanks for keeping me updated! i’m so excited to hop back into this game.
While I agree in that the characters now feel very under-utilized, I wouldn't be willing to sacrifice the inclusion of Town Missions for their sake... not only because a functional Overworld is the ONLY thing P-06 lacks in comparison to Retail 06... but, P-06 has a mod/level manager to let you play custom stages, and those could be designed around these characters and whatnot, there's also a character select thingy which allows you to play as any character at any time
On the other hand, I don't recall the Town Missions having a template like that in P-06...

I've never played any version of 06 so I don't have a lot to put in this time, but pretty cool to see you had a good time with this.
That last true 3d sonic game
We just need ChaosX to do the bosses and the Final Story and we'll have the game we always deserved.
Sonic 06 is and will likely always be my favourite Sonic game. It was the final evolution of the adventure formula that had been built up from SA 1 through Shadow. If this game got to be Sonic 07, Sonic might have ended up so much better off then these days. Frontiers kinda being the exception.
"The level design was the best part of Sonic 06"
The soundtrack: "Am I a joke to you?"
Also, you don't fight Chaos 1 as Super Sonic in Adventure 1, you fight Perfect Chaos as Super Sonic.
Also, Shadow's bracelets (and anklets) being inhibitors was actually shown in Sonic X, during the Adventure 2 arc.
32:13 Maybe even porting levels from other games tbh, i would actually enjoy playing adventure levels besides im frontiers for once
shadow taking off his limiter bracelets is actually something well established in the comic universe, and it was honestly nice to see that they brought it over into the video games. Deus ex bracelets is canon with the lore.
Sega needs to hire this man and release his remake of 06 as a full game with Ian Flynn rewriting the story
Nice video! You have pretty good points tbh. This feels like a whole different game tbh lol
Always a good day to see a new video from you
A small note here: There is one thing added with Blaze: A triple jump.
Why doesn't nobody remember chaos lance from the original 😭
You could charge it up and throw multiple chaos lances that exploded on impact.
I just came here to say that, that Thumbnail is soooo Badass
27:06
Yeah, i had hope that Blaze could take her moveset from Sonic Rush too, and it's dissapointing, but eh, i guess we can't have it all...
This just makes me so excited for mods to come out for this game!
At this point, a Sonic Boom remake wouldn't surprise me. The fans are incredible.... Congratulations to the team!
That depends if someone have figured out how to homebrew or crack the code on the Wii-U like the Wii.
I just want to say that Blaze's spin attack is very similar to Amy's spin attack. Only, I'd actually argue I like Amy's spin attack more because after a while it causes her to get dizzy, which is both a way to balance the ability, and just something very cute and funny at the same time.
after i played Silver in P06 i though i couldn't get happier, ChaosX really made him of the coolest character ever, i love it
I normally don’t care for profanity in a video about Sonic but you make it entertaining
They HAVE to make Sonic Man playable, that's all we need for P-06 to turn into Peak-06
Just seeing the gameplay footage makes me realise just how much I play P-06 like the original.
To make it worse, CocksX is unwilling to make it work on mouse and keyboard.
Omens is better than every official Sonic game combined and it was made by just a small team of Russian devs.
"Sonic and the Legacy of Solaris" now that is a game title that is worthy of this amazing game
It'd be cool to see your runs of the stages in P06 like you did with the Frontiers Arcade mode! It's so electrifying to watch, especially with the gems opening up so many cool and unique gameplay possibilities.
they should make the post game allow the player to use any character in any stage.
It really makes you feel like Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)
Talk about a glow up
project 06 is the adventure 3 of my dreams
Ayy sick vid man, as a p-06 speedrunner this update is full of really good shit, (minus some nerfs to sonic…) but something cool with blaze is you can triple jump by fire clawing in the air after a Jump canceling it the you can jump again!
Incredible analysis. You summarized the sentiment we've all been feeling about P-06 perfectly. Love to see when you cover this game. It truly has become the definitive 3D Sonic experience, and I am beyond grateful for it! Also, I haven't subscribed to you yet?! Let me fix that real quick. Lol.
The thumbnail with the video title... It's like a threat to those guys from the game scoop video
When I realized someone was actually suggesting to play the original Sonic 2006 I was about to close the video, but I'm glad I stayed a little longer 😅😂
20:12 that wasn’t made up for sonic 06 it was in sonic x and I think it might have also been in the comics
You don't have to suffer through an unfinished game to enjoy a perfectly fine remake
I'm stuck with 06 cuz I don't have a pc
Aye Ion know if Im jus fired but tha thumbnail raw asl
*fried my guy
Man, that's amazing! It looks like it moves like Sonic!
Sonic fans are something else, man.
I wish this had been the game we'd gotten in 2006. Or 2007, since they would've needed the time to make it properly.
I was hoping you'd make this exact video
Holy crap this looks like so much fun, I wish I would’ve gotten this game in Christmas 06 instead of the dumpster fire.
So, here are some anecdotes from my point of view…
Do it yourself
Honestly, Sonic chars designs where great and now with the control mechanics on this makes this the greatest Sonic game of all time with Project Sonic 06
I find random keys for Rouge to be a downgrade. I liked that they were in constant places and I could focus on execution of movement instead of wandering around waiting for beep.
It always baffled me how a lot of sonic fans flinched at the idea of a official Sonic 06 remake saying that “it won’t fix the game”
Bro what Sonic 06 could have been the best sonic game if SEGA let Sonic Team actually finish it, and p06 is definitive proof of that.
I bought a gaming laptop just so I could play this game, and I don't regret it.
I like the hub worlds and all the npc dialogue. Made it more like a real adventure.
"The Year is 2006, Things..... Have Changed."
I played and beat Vanilla 06 last year and it was quite the time.
Someday I’ll play P-06 hands-on and gush at all the improvements!
I like that you appreciate Sonic's janky physics. I mean, does it make sense, no. Does it work for Sonic somehow, yes
9:51 is Sonic heroes jump not Sonic Adventure 2
