Agreed. Those are two different formats meant for different purposes. 10 years from now someone will discover your band and will want to immerse in that universe you created. What's your legacy as an artist? Just a handful of singles? Well, it's gonna be a very short journey then. Your legacy is definitely not tik tok videos though, unless you're insanely good at creating those.

Well thought and constructed music videos are as good as f8nished ..bands dont want to pay .they cant be bothered putting 8n the effort ....what they want is any phone style video they can put 8nto their feeds and tik ok ...thats good enough for them ..
The real benefit of s great music video for new bands is to create a visial business card to get managgmrnt , agent attention ..bookings.
Exactly. Having a good music video is essential, but same with everything else. Its all apart of the portfolio now. Social media content creation is a whole new part of marketing bands now.
If "matter" = $, then almost certainly not. Music videos are primarily for people who love music videos, which seems to be an even smaller audience than those who love music. Ideally, a good music video will 1) add context and depth to the meaning of a song; 2) demonstrate the artist's personality, vision, and dedication to his art; 3) turn passive followers into supporters. Every once in awhile, you might even convert a few music lovers into music video lovers.
100% agreed with you. We got to get very creative and push our music through these modern ways. Perhaps a new YT video idea would be some short content basics to help your music? I’d love to hear more about this. Thanks John
