I can tell you to this day there's no better person to raise a grandchild than their grandmother, my grandma would whoop your hind end, but she would love you to death. She was born in 1911 , her and Grandpa adopted me when I was 10 years old. Mama and Papa my two best friends, with unconditional love they loved me , no one could ever replace either one. Granny died in 82 and papa died in 96. Me being 61 I still miss them everyday. May they rest in peace together with Jesus, amen.

My Granny is a 102 and praying she'll see 103 in September. Had a hand in raising all her grandkids. Those hands still clapping in church every Sunday and highschool Football on Friday. Enjoy them while they are here. They are such Blessings. Love you GRANDMA D. 😘
I wish my grandparents lived to 100. I've been really missing them these days 😢
I only knew my grandfather on my father's side of the family. Papa, as we called him, took care of Grandma Sara who was very sick and passed before I knew her. On my mother's side of the family, both grandparents passed away when I was a little child 😢 💔 Anyone who knew and loved their grandparents are Blessed.

As a GREAT-grandma's boy, I've never heard this song from Bill Withers, and thought I already had a favorite.. I stand corrected, I'm lucky to still have her, she'll forever be my mama. Every word spoken in this song makes me think about her when I was a baby.

This man only had to sit down, strum his acoustic guitar and just tell the truth. The result: platinum singles and albums and songs sung by everyone, even today. Any time you put this record on, you are having a direct, intimate conversation with Bill Withers and you are the better for it. He is the closest thing to Leadbelly anyone in the past two or so generations has ever seen. He is such a virtuoso of keeping it simple that the more instruments are behind him the less effective he sounds (and even then the reason he was picked to sing songs like "Just the Two of Us" is that his voice is simple). Everyone can sing his songs, but no one can break them down like Bill Withers.
