They wrote all their songs themselves. There were people who misunderstood them or believed their music was like Wannabe and that's it. They have some great songs with great lyrics and live instruments.
@@infin8reactions It's understandable. The fact that an older (by which I mean simply someone who was around in the 90's, myself included), presumably straight (certainly masculine) male, who was around during their popular super pop fast girl music and all the advertising bullshit can admit that he may have misjudged them and that even if they aren't necessarily his kind of music, he can appreciate that they're talented and better than he though... I think that's very impressive, lots of people would just stick to their guns rather than admit to being wrong and possibly risk embarrassment - it may not mean much but you have my admiration.
Hasta manhana means see you tomorrow, yes. And is not exactly a love song as far as I'm aware it's basically a bitter-sweet look at growing up, about the fond memories of childhood/innocence that you will wait for forever even though you know you'll never get back to that place. At least that's my interpretation
I didn’t get this as a kid, but it really speaks to the nostalgic feeling of remembering your childhood as an adult. It must have been very meaningful to 80s kids at the time.
The Spice Girls conducted a plan to steal the master tapes of ‘Wannabe’ and do a midnight flit from the studio and accommodation given to them because they knew they could achieve more than their manager/team at the time thought they could. Pretty badass if you ask me, there’s so much more to this band than people give them credit for. This is absolutely one of their most mature, and beautiful pieces. It’s full of melancholy.

You should definitely listen to Goodbye and especially Viva forever the live version from Wembley 1998 towards the end when Mel B and C harmonize their vocals. I get shivers every single time!
This is a classic! An all time fave and I'm SO happy to see your video. Their harmonies are AWESOME!!! Check out the live version with a children's choir. You won't be disappointed ❤️
Great response, Check out 'Goodbye'. The 'Fairies' in the clip were necessitated because this was during the friction with Geri and her leaving. so no actual 'Spice Girls' in the clip. The song was seen as a farewell to Geri......Until they released 'Goodbye' which was actually freshly written to address Geri leaving.
Yeah this why you should never pass judgement on any artist until you know what they do. Only then can you decide if it’s for you or not. Most artist do different things as well so hear one or two songs is nothing if the discography is a long one. Of course there can be misses along the way. Thank you for writing that. I am tired of people "judging a book by its cover" as we say in my country. And I must say that back in the 90s/2000s I heard a lot of people criticizing the Spice Girls, but now they are re-evaluating them. I am old enough to remember the same thing happened 80s with the Duran Duran, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper and many artists who were then young and emerging. I am sorry Geri left so soon - I think she I think she got burn-out because of the the exhausting rhythms of work to which they were subjected in those years, but it is clear she was a leader as a songwriter, because she brought the successful Spice Girls style in her solo albums while the Spice Girls changed it in their third album as a foursome.

I didn't understand it when I was a kid when I was a massive fan of The Spice Girls, but I returned to it when I was a teen or my early 20s and yeah, I found out basically what the song meant and I think it made me cry. It's so sad and beautiful. The video reminds me of the 2007 movie 'Bridge to Terabithia', which is also worth watching.
A good song, nostalgic, a song that strikes me as something to mourn family and friends and the memories that were made. As I get older, compared to when we listened to this young, the sound and lyrics does strike those emotions true.
I know SG best known song is " Wannabe" and maybe " Spice Up your Life", but they had also many beautiful songs, you should check also " Let Love Lead the way" and "Goodbye" very popular songs of SG and very similar to " Viva Forever"
Its two boys... And the concept is that the spice girls (depicted here as fairies) are the ones who page people from one life to the other. When the rubrics cube appears it's a metaphor for the kid having a fatal accident, and when he is trapped inside that's when his body passes The kids friend solving the Rubik's cube is his struggle dealing with the guilt and feelings of sorrow. When he solves it he throws it back in the toy machine. Showing he is ready to move on... See you tomorrow, Always be mine.
The person who got put in the cube is a guy it was 2 boys lol so not his girlfriend lol and their another version of this song the spice girls did, sporty spice sang other lyrics during it, and called it SPICE GIRLS FOREVER

I love the Spice Girls and I will always love them, I love the. Freshness of the 90s and the. Lightness of those years spent with their songs, I'm glad you did it. Reaction, I recommend, " Goodbye" "let love lead the way" which are just as beautiful!
The 90s and early 00s media were extremely misogynistic towards female pop artists in particular. I guess that's where a lot of the misunderstandings come from. They were reduced to their looks and catchiest hooks and oftentimes not seen as credible artists. A lot has changed since then, and re-watching some of the stuff from the mentioned period without media commentary really puts things into perspective.
They were never great singers (Melanie C excepted) but they had some catchy songs including some really nice ballads, like this one. Too Much is another nice song and Stop is a catchy 60's Motown style song. Btw, seeing as you like Muse check out this really talented guy, Andre Antunes - playing The Beatles' Whilst My Guitar Gently Weeps in the style of Muse. I'd swear it was Muse themselves, it's so convincing! They has their sound and Matt's voice down perfectly, pure genius! Here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/Q_mb04IyDAo/v-deo.html
In that video geri allready left the group . So they used the cartoon farreys to keep geri in. But in the cube you see that the geri farrie is gone up and out from the group.
Yes you did dismiss the spice girls. Been loving them since 1996, and i will never stop. They saved my life during my life because of my childhood. You will love both their albums. You should do "Let love lead the way"
I wish you could react to Geri Halliwell solo songs such as "Scream If You Wanna Go Faster", "Angels In Chains" or "Love And Light". If guess if you had such a prejudice about the Spice Girls as a band, you would be surprised as well finding out Halliwell was very good as a solo too - beyond her major catchy hits.
The original version of the video didn’t show the girl getting out of the capsule machine, they added that part for the UA-cam version, they wanted to make the video less creepy I guess.
The Spice Girls all knew 'Wannabe' was a one-hit wonder which is why they released it as a first single knowing they had better songs later down the line.
