Can you tell sheʻs dancing in the rain (behind the lighting stand)? Add you can see part of my umbrella as I try to hunch over and protect my camera but not block the view of the people behind me as I shoot this video. What a night! But the show still went on...
You deserve an award for documenting these musical treasures, Jody! It's a shame this pandemic has been lasting so long. I hope you can resume recording performances like this soon!
That was actually the last time I recorded a live performance. It was a cold rainy night back in February 2020, and I stuck it out even though the student with me had left and I tried to protect my camera from the rain with my parka and holding my umbrella down low so I wouldnʻt block the view of the people behind me, but the wind kept blowing it into view of my camera. Plus I got stuck seated behind the lighting stand -- I always had complaints about the Kona Nui Nights staging and lighting because they didnʻt consider the dancers and audience. Fortunately, Hōkū set up his own tent because the stage was completely uncovered. Then after the concert there was all kinds of bad news and bad luck and I was in a state of crisis, and just when I thought things were getting better with work and my housing, the pandemic hit, and the consequences of the lockdown and restrictions put me in a hole, so I didnʻt post the videos until April when I could get high-speed WiFi. I havenʻt been to any live performances since then and there have hardly been any except for virtual concerts. Live music was just starting again on a small scale, but thatʻs got to stop again because of the delta variant surge. I probably wonʻt be recording music again until next year, sadly.
@@JodyY808 Yes, and it's tough on the musicians as well. Let's pray this pandemic goes away soon!
