    Thank you for your video. Just stripped mine down and cleaned it. Wanted to ensure I'd put the trigger mechanism back together correctly. I'm so happy I found this. 😘

    Thanks so much, I couldn't work out the trigger lever part at 18.54 as mine had sprung out. Then on reassembly the three screws were stripped, so ended up drilling out and putting some small set screws and nuts to hold it together. Now it works!

      Glad it helped. The usual problem is leaving it switched on when you are not using it, that allows the glue to leak back inside.

      Thank you. I think the main problem is letting the gun lay on it's side when the glue is liquid. It seems to find ways to escape. I think sometimes I try to rush it too, so I am putting too much pressure on the glue stick and some escapes backwards. Either way, you can see I had a real mess inside 😊

      I have covered rather a lot of subjects in my time. You can buy replacement heater elements but you can get a new glue gun cheap too.

    do ya think a wee blast of a heat gun would work if you didnt have spirits to remove the glue?

    • @GrandadIsAnOldMan
      @GrandadIsAnOldMan  5 років тому +1

      The problem with that is it goes hot and sticky (surprisingly enough) which helps in some ways but also means it sticks to whatever you are using to try to remove it and doesn't come out cleanly, spreading to bits that were clear before. Probably need to do a bit of both.

    I would use a hot air paint stripper or a powerful hair drier to melt the glue.
    Then use a cloth to remove the melted glue.

    Would have been easier if you had of allowed the glue to cool and solidify ... then just pry it of with a small headed flat screwdriver

    My glue gun leaking so much when not in use i tried to add two spring parallel in the trigger but it didn't help this it is the problem because it was not in my old similar glue gun .
    M guessing the problem is because lack of heat so when i applied pressure that pressure stored in the high viscous fluid which release fluid continuously when it's not in use 🤔

    • @GrandadIsAnOldMan
      @GrandadIsAnOldMan  3 роки тому +1

      Is it leaking from the nozzle or leaking back through the internals. If it is leaking through the nozzle then it is probably too hot for the glue stick, so it is too fluid. Either way, if you are not using it for a while you need to switch it off. I have a similar problem with one of my cheap glue guns, I think the heater element gets it too hot.

    • @omsingharjit
      @omsingharjit 3 роки тому

      @@GrandadIsAnOldMan no , instead it is not so viscous so heat is not enough , but any way i have addressed the problem it's because in my new H gun its hole is bigger then my older gun i have to reduce its hole dia

    i have a cheap version works great bought a Liddel version load of crapp gets to hot burns and don't glue

    • @GrandadsOtherChannel
      @GrandadsOtherChannel 5 років тому

      The common problem is using cheap glue sticks that are just a tiny bit too thin. That allows the liquid glue to escape backwards through the inlet and into the mechanism. I have done that quite often. They are OK if you start with the right size so it is plenty hot and flowing well, then you can get away with using some cheap ones as long as you use them all up and get to a good one to leave in place at the end but it is better not to buy the cheap glue sticks as it is a false economy. Allowing the gun to lay on it's side is asking for trouble as that will let the hot glue run back the wrong way too. Any of the guns with a fairly stiff power cable are prone to doing that as the cable twist makes them fall over when you put them down.

    How did the glue get there?

    • @GrandadIsAnOldMan
      @GrandadIsAnOldMan  3 роки тому +1

      Usually what happens is you put too much pressure on the trigger before it is properly warmed up, so it can't come out of the nozzle and is squeezed out of the joints.

    Design Fault mate… I’ve got one of those glue guns and they are so unreliable, and it takes flipping ages to warm up to melting temperature, also about five pumps of the trigger and you’ve got to put another glue stick in the back of it !!

    • @GrandadIsAnOldMan
      @GrandadIsAnOldMan  2 роки тому +1

      The usual problem with these is that people lay them on their sides rather than upright. That can allow the liquid glue to escape in the wrong direction. Other than that, they usually last me for several years.

      They do seem prone to the glue leaking inside. To be fair, it may be because I use cheap glue sticks that may not be the perfect size, or they may melt too easily, or not well enough, either way, probably can't complain unless I use the recommended sticks.
