Hi Kona, that's great to hear! Growing plants especially edible ones is one of the most rewarding things we can do in this life 😍 I wish you lots of success in all your future plant growing 🙏🌷
Eggplants that are watered correctly will be overall healthy, strong stems and leaves and the flowers and fruit won't dry or shrivel up. Flowers also drop if they haven't been fertilised or are not receiving the right amount of full sun (at least 6 hours a day). I'd water 2x week deeply and allow your plants to dry out a little bit between watering. This will prevent root rot which eggplants can get if they're watered too much.
Hi Earl and welcome! I live in Cologne, Germany and the climate is temperate-oceanic. My balcony is a little micro climate and can get to around 40 degrees C in summer according to the thermometer 🙈 and then normal winter weather but still relatively warm. Wow must be hot in your garden!
Hi Teresita, you're welcome 😊 yes I also have lots of houseplants and have made a few videos about them but I mainly make videos about what I grow on my balcony 🌷
Hi Wee, there are many reasons why eggplants don't flower or produce flower buds that then drop off before producing fruit. The main reasons are not enough sun and water and too nitrogen in the soil or the feed. Eggplants need at least 6 hours of sunlight a day (direct if possible) and alot of water so place your plant in a sunny position and water regularly. The nutrient nitrogen is good for luscious green foliage but not good for producing flowers and fruit so if your plant has big healthy leaves but no flowers, try upping the phosphorus levels (good for flowering) and reducing N. Hope that helps! 🙏
@@balconiagarden thank you so much for your reply! Deeply appreciated. I just have a single brinjal flower recently! Am thrilled! Tried hand pollinating it. Hope to have good news later! My chillies on the other hand, has many flowers but they don't bear fruits. Hahaha..
That's true although if you live in a colder climate then you have to either overwinter the plants in pots (also if grown in the open soil you can dig them up and pot them up) or grow a new plant each year 🙂
Hi Arundathi, it could be due to stress? To produce flowers and then fruit takes a lot of energy from the plant so it could be that the plant is reserving its energy for growing. Make sure you are watering regularly, the plant is receiving lots of full sun and the pot is big enough (if in a pot). Other thing is check are whether all the flowers are like that? Or could the flowers have ben damaged in any way?
