Your review actually helped us to decide to buy both of the fans. We live in a high-rise in Chicago where the heating system does not get turned off until nearly June, and our air conditioners cannot cope with our cooling needs during spring time because of it. Based on your recommendation, first we got the Honeywell fan, and we love how quiet it is but it doesn’t have enough airflow for our needs. So later the same day, now we’re getting the Dyson fan (at a good discount and with a trade-in at Best Buy) to have higher airflow. We will put the Dyson in a room with a strong air conditioner and face it towards our apartment’s main hallway, in a location where it can be as loud as it needs to be. And we will put the Honeywell at the end of the hallway facing into our living room, where its quieter operation and lesser airflow will work just fine paired with the Dyson. So not exactly the point of the review, but thank you for helping us graduate from two old Vornado floor fans.
Honeywell it is, then. Complete no-brainer. We were having a hard time deciding about the Honeywell but this sets it. Thank you for the detailed review and the graphs!
Dyson is the Bose speaker of small, household appliances. Lots of overblown patents, snazzy designs, and slick marketing, but charging premium prices for cheap components and the performance is lacking when compared to far cheaper alternatives. Same goes for Simple Human and their $200+ garbage cans.
@@mattieice2988 if you’re going to spend $500 on a fan that isn’t even much better than fans 10% it’s price, you better have $100,000 plus of spending money, even then it’s just dumb to buy overpriced stuff, that’s how you go broke
I don't know how Dyson patented the Venturi but the Weed Eater Gator Vac uses this technology and has a decade or two before Dyson ever made the fans. Granted, it was used in a lawn vacuum but still... It's not the first time Dyson claims this as it claimed it was the first bagless cleaning system with no loss of performance even though both Rexair with the Rainbow and Filter Queen implemented the technology a good 50-60 years prior to Dyson machines.
i've had the honeywell for 2 summers and i got for my copd, great quiet fan at low speeds so can sleep with it on all the time, in the uk it cost me 80 quid i think, all dyson stuff is way over priced and hyped! i have the fan not even 3 metres away and you wont hear it if the tv is on.
I have two Honeywell tower fans for many years. The only ones I can sleep with at night time I put two beside my bed and I sleep like a baby crocodile.
Hands down best Video!!! dyson is more about looks Honeywell for 400 dollars cheaper well like my friend said!! you tell me?? excellent review and we just purscashed the Honeywell over dyson all day long!!!!! have a great day my friends Respect IceMan
I would love to see how much the Dyson fan cost to make versus the Honeywell. Unless the Dyson legit cost more (meaning it couldn't be made cheaper) to make, it is just a ripoff
I find that the Honeywell makes some very obnoxious whistling noise and very deep base thumping, somehow (I literally thought it was a concert playing somewhere in the distance, until I realized it came from the fan). So even though it's not necessarily super loud, it's some very unpleasant noises. Maybe something is wrong with mine, I don't know, but I'll probably return it, as it's driving me nuts 🙉🙈
I guess my question is how good is the Dyson fan with dust? I know that you wiped the outside down but that doesn’t show how clean the inside stays and if the blade inside gets dusty, it’ll blow less and less. I love tower fans but they have to be cleaned a lot, and the tower blade is kind of big and tedious to clean. Also after about two or so years the tower fans always start making gurgling noises. So I wonder how the Dyson holds up over very long periods (I run the fan 24/7 365 basically. Love me some e white noise)
Airflow (meaning volumetric flow rate) is not the same thing as air speed. To make this truly apples to apples, you should list the CFM rating of the fans and they should be equal
You are technically right. Might have lost this one in translation. However, here, CFM has no value has it’s not exchanging air (for example) or cooling air. The only effect of a cooling fan is the effect of air speed on the skin (convection). This is what the human body feels. It’s is to be noted here that all fans here are almost the same size and should have similar CFM but it’s the airspeed here that clearly counts. But thanks, I’ll make sure to use the appropriate term next time.
Dyson products are for only people who are rich and want to shows off! Those who are not super rich would not see the value of its. Same as diamond that for those who can afford it, super rich people.
I agree that the Dyson fan is a triumph of marketing over value, but there is one additional thing to consider. Air speed versus air volume. They are not the same. In an earlier life, I sold and distributed fans for a wholesaler. I learned that air volume is the critical concern for moving a lot of air from one location to another, I.e. distributing cool air around a room. Air speed, however, is the critical concern if you are using the fan for close personal use to cool yourself by perspiration evaporative cooling. In any event, I believe the Dyson fan is way overpriced, and appeals primarily to those consumers that want the unique rather than the most effective. Of course, your mileage may vary, and how you spend your money is entirely your business. Just consider your application, spend your money, and enjoy.
Totally agree but here (according also to your explanation) air speed (velocity applies). I would have talked about CFM (volume) for an ac unit or air exchanger.
Unfortunately you are wrong as many other people commented. I have seen these sold as AC on marketplace. It doesn’t make sense to you, but it does for some, more than you think.
We got this for the toddler room ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxdzUap46p9ViXhKZf5mK_bXOb89EHxTqq because of the bladeless feature. Actually has a lot more power than I thought it would. Can still feel the air moving well 6 feet away, which is farther than I would expect from a desk fan. My daughter dropped twice and still works. I haven't checked out how long it lasts on a charge yet, but the air output was still good for the few minutes it was unplugged. My daughter also likes the color lights feature, but I don't really care for it and can be annoying to go through all the options before it turns off. Overall, happy with the purchase, especially for the price
I am returning my dyson fan tomorrow for the honeywell. The dyson's noise is louder, yes, but its also an unpleasent sound. It's a whistling type of sound. The way the air is generated at the bottom of the fan, and it is "whistled" up throughout the channels and out. That sound is higher in volume, but also in pitch. Its a high pitched whistling noise, and unbearable at speed 2! Speed 1 is the only useable setting on the dyson. I have a small tabletop version of the honeywell, and that is the traditional fan turbine noise you're use to hearing. Dyson has failed hard.
Does the Honeywell generate heat? I have a lasko that's insanely loud on its lowest setting and it generates heat from the bottom sides so it's counterproductive and heating up our small closed in room.
I inherited a Dyson fan 1st gen and it sucked. Loud as hell. We tossed it in the trash. I'm no Dyson fan as I've had their vacuum ball and now this fan and they were both over priced junk.
@@TEKDAD Yes I wanted to make an hole in our mattress to fit the Chocolate & fan in to keep it cool with us. I think keeping it under the mattress would be best but there would be no wind.
We have 3 of these. One we bought because we were desperate during a period of intense haze from Indonesia and there was a shortage of air filters; 2 given by a friend's mom who just gave up on them. Apples to oranges argument is idiotic. Bottom line, you want a fan with strong airflow when you need it delivered QUIETLY. Dyson fails in both. Speed setting lower than 7 is a joke. You have to make an act of faith to actually believe there is airflow at speed setting 3 or below. All three are now in tiny rooms in my house because those all these fans are capable of making any difference .

The anemometer was critical. Often these reviews are subjective and to have a 'measurement' is very enlightening

So you're a big fan?
Can it be hidden under the mattress if the mattress is white?

I would prefer Beats as a comparaison (headphones). Bose is expensive but the products are generally good (just to great value).
Dyson vacuums are worth it. The rest of their products not so much.
Great comparison i love how dyson looks but the price is wicked
Not that bad if you want to pay 500 dollars more!!! lol 100% agree with Savage

More like stupid rich kids who were never taught how real life works at all.
Alot of people who are drowning in debt buy them too because they have low self-esteem and want to pretend like they are rich.
Damn... Besides quiet n speed. Does it cool or NOT🤷🏾♀️
It’s a fan, that’s it.
I am trying to avoid dust and like the BLADELESS fans that Dyson makes. Any advice please.
