Have you considered putting down concrete on the area around your outdoor fire (we call it a firepit). It would be like a floor and easier to keep clean. I wish I could show you a picture of our firepit. We call this area a "patio." We put a table and chairs made for outside there. We use it a lot during the summer months.
Good morning, Joyce & Peter. It is a beautiful day here in Tennessee. It is starting to cool here and the sweet smell of Autumn is in the air. I love this time of year, but I don't look forward to the cold coming. Sometimes, here in the southern part of USA we get a bit of snow. The children love it, but I would rather it stay warm! When it snows here, there are so many car wrecks on the roads because of the ice. Your home is looking so lovely. God bless you and your family.

Blessings Joyce & Peter! Joyce you need pot holders so you hold the hot pot and pot handles so you won't burn your hands. Maybe they can build you and outdoor stove out of the leftover bricks. Make it high so you will not have to bend over. Here in America many people have them in their backyards. Thanks for sharing ❤
My parents were from Alabama, USA. Many enslaved people were taken there. We eat our mustard, turnip, and collard greens exactly like that only we use buttermilk cornbread. When my husband first ate dinner with us, he stared at us because we ate with our fingers exactly as she was doing. His family is from the northern part of the USA and he thought it was so unusual. Many foods, customs and mannerisms from Africa have been retained in our culture even to this day.

It's hectic and stressful to have workers at your property and most of us have been there - you worked every bit as hard as them! I am going to try to make Ugali. Here in the UK the flour you refer to is called Maize flour, not readily available but luckily for me, a new African foods shop has opened in town - yippee! xx

Hi my family. The progress is great. I don’t know about African culture or ways but where I am located when men or workers come to our home, I try to wear a long skirt or a dress that is not form fitting as a sign of respect for my husband and my home. Modesty is a tool in a woman’s bag.
She had dressed very modestly in our African culture!
