I can't escape the video game mobile app sponsors.
Homie gotta get the bag. Much respect. The very least you can do is just click on it.
If you've never heard it... check out Andy Cizek's cover of Given Up. Only cover I've heard with a LEGIT scream in that part. It's one of my favorite Chester parts, and I think Andy absolutely nailed the whole cover, but that part especially.
Cheers!
Anthony, for the next hardest vocals video you should try out When I'm With You by Sheriff. See how long you can hold the final "when I'm with you" line.
plz listen to bloodywood - aaj plz gonne say right now you are gonne be suprised like i was
17 years on and that scream in Given Up still gives me chills. I don't think it will ever be beaten.
I mean, there's Maynard's scream in The Grudge which is my #1 pick
He was truly something else
Eric Adams every single time.
@@MsSquarebananaNot close bro
My favourite is the live 24 second version vs the 17 second track version
The fact that Anthony can even get close is a true testament to his and Chester‘s talent.
I guess you meant can't. Still, an honorable attempt in my book.
theres another youtuber called Todd Barriage that did the full scream but he still didnt have the same *power* behind it that Chester had
Have nothing against Chester, but I don't think his singing is all that...
@@led.zepper You dont have to like it, but he is a CB is the GOAT in his field.
@@CaptainFirefred - He's a "goat" TO HIS steady fanbase. Which I'm not attacking ...everyone's personal favorite [artist] is a "goat", and that's the beauty of diversity. He's YOUR goat, and I respect that ✊🏼
I see chester and know exactly what song.
I tried to think what song it might be but after 5 minutes I'd given up
@@eddieruddock7014 i think you meant you've given uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuup
I feel like Given Up has been featured in half of Anthony's "singing impossible vocal lines" videos :D
not that I'd mind tho :D
Alex Terribles cover is my favorite attempt when he just gives up and says he can't do it 😆
When I think impossible Chester, I think of Crawling. I don't think most people realize how much even trying that can wreck your whole week.
Phoenix (the bass guitarist) of Linkin Park has said in interviews that Chester almost always hated the setlists where he had to perform both Crawling and Given Up.
@@harishsubramanian1241 which were nearly, if not, all of them, the last decade of his life, lol
Well. homie, even Breaking the habit isn't as easy as it may look.
Qwerty if even more difficult to sing than Crawling
crawling is brutal!
Linkin Park The Messenger Live Madrid 2010 - 1:59
that extra grit he puts on the "always" is incredible
6:47 Buckley released his album at 94 , and temple of the dog at 91. so most likely Jeff was inspired by Chris
word
Shut up nerd
Chris Cornell in Say hello to heaven Is Amazing
There's some "recent" live videos of him singing this & it's somehow even more 😮...likely cuz his voice became even more full over time
Came for the Linkin Park, left in even more awe of Chris Cornell AND your good self! Rest in Rock, Chester and Chris! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
it's been almost 7 years without the legends.
Anthony is the only artist I've come across to really sound a lot like chris & be able to nails a lot of chester's screams...without wrecking his vocals that is
I continue to be fascinated by how close you can get to certain artists with technique alone. It just goes to show that it's not simply being born with a voice, but there's a lot - a *lot* - of work put into it. It makes appreciate the original vocalists a lot more. Also, grats on how far you've come with Chester's scream!
Man, I love watching you as you listen to music you vibe to. You get this "oh yeah" look and a grin, and you can just tell you're loving it.
I saw Chris Cornell's last show, I waited over 20 years to see him live. Every time I see or hear him, it breaks my heart all over again.
here's a funny thing, I was so obsessed with this 17 second scream in 'Given Up' when i first heard it, I wanted to match that right away. I tried it weeks and weeks in a row. I'm not reallty a great singer and I'm asthmatic too, but weirdly, at one point I was able to match it without blowing my vocal chords or hurting myself. I even blew some of my friends' minds at a karaoke party with it, and even fluently switching the 2 tones without catching a breath. I felt like a king. It has been a while now though and I don't know if I still got it.
I chase a similar high with Cochise by Audioslave. I haven't tried screaming when he goes "you don't feel a thing" for many years. Even though it's not as hard as Given Up, it's very rewarding to scream that
It was one of my dreams! That's awesome to read, really, congrats bro!
Chester made whole scream part live @ AOL Music Session. It was an incredible
AOL was the best part! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
So glad to see Temple of The Dog in this video.. It's such an important album for me.. It made me and the love of my life become closer and closer while we weren't a couple.. We were just friends who loved each other.. Bought it 2x on CD.. We both have one.. Sorry for that.. I never had the oppotunity to share that story that is so important to me.. Super good video btw ! Really enjoyed it !! ^^
Surprised you weren't very familiar with Leprous. You're really in for a treat if you decide to do a deep dive on them. They're also one of the best live acts I've ever seen.
Sky is Red is so amazing live
Chester and Chris, 2 singers that will never ever be duplicated. Both 1 of a kinds in thier own way.....
But you should try the scream part from dozing green by dir en grey...just insane that song
Your Brian Johnson voice sounds like a really pissed off Elmo.
I’ve always said Brian Johnson sounds like if Elmo smoked a pack a day.
See also: Marge Simpson
See also also: Miss Piggy
The breaking bad and better call Saul story is really very real
3:33 Ree Ree Ahhhh XD
Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington....legends
Leprous is the best discovery you will find this year. They are ultimate musicians
Singing is part of my job, specifically rock, and for me the hardest part of ‘given up’ isn’t the scream, I can on occasion find a place in my voice for it, it’s being able to go back into the chorus straight away post scream which separates Chester from literally anyone else. That whole trend… I don’t think I saw anyone continue into the chorus. That’s the kicker. Chester was insane.
9:35 Funny enough, Ivo from the cover band Hybrid Theory (Portugal) can do it live without the pause :)
It's impressive.
They are very impressive.
Qwerty live in Japan was a beast performance. Chester alternating clean and screaming with no cracks
Youre so impressive with how well you transition so easily. I appreciate the break from general life. Thanks.
If you want a real challenge try to do the 30 second scream at the end of the song Pavor Nocturnus by Igorrr (at like 3:44)
I'm actually a bit ashamed I didn't know much about Cornell's music until recently: like I said in a previous comment, to me he sounds like a soul singer who obtained "rock vocal powers" following a super-natural encounter, kind of like a Marvel super-hero. Just a beautiful voice!
By the way... are you sure you don't want turn that "Redbone" cover into a full version? 😅😉
Hey main thing is that you know now. 😊
@@FWDSUXARSETrue! 😅
The Mars Volta- Inertiatic ESP
Thank you very much, sir! You have provided 10 years of inspiring and insanely creative content. It has been a pleasure to watch you grow and improve your vocal talent throughout the years. Keep up the great work!!
Yes Baby! Chris Cornell! 💜
I think the amazing part about the 18 second scream is that he went from screaming his head off to singing like an angel so smoothly after.
Anthony. You really should consider doing some breaking downs of some singer performances, kinda what you're doing hear but do one song/performer at a time, it's really interesting. I've been looking for someone that can both explain and reconstruct what the artist is doing, and so far you're the only one doing it convincingly. Love your videos man, keep it up!
Cornell could do so much with acoustic. I just heard an acoustic version he did of Nothing Compares 2 U, that was totally killer
chester was a fucking legend. so happy to see the respect he gets.
Chris Cornell's scream in "Cochise", only 9 seconds
Call Me A Dog was written before Buckley wrote the Grace album. So it was the other way round influence-wise, if anything.
Landmvrks is one of my favorite bands that song goes hard.
First time commenting, long time lurker! I got you sweet new challenge!
Band: Tesseract
Song: Legion // part 3.19 - 4.05
I believe that part is hard to pull of.. like genuinely. But ofc im not sure cause im not singer.
Would love to see your attempt on that part!
Another one take from them is totally insane:
Song: War of Being
Part: 9.50 -> that scream.
On the Breaking Bad note, I kept insisting my husband would love that show, and he would just never watch it. Then he watched Better Call Saul, and I put two and two together halfway through an episode that he was watching on his own that they were part of the same story, THEN he decided to watch Breaking Bad and he loved it. =D
ALSO, I love with Anthony sings Chris Cornell songs, because he does it SO WELL.
My vocal cords hurt just listening to him sing ACDC. Fuck that lol
I don't even like what it sounds like, honestly.
Chester had lungs bigger than his torso, damn.
Ok I'm listening to landmarks right now. Anthony your vocal range out of this world
Never would've heard of Leprous or LANDMVRKS if it weren't for this video. Gotta check both out now, they kick ass!
OK, sorry. I heard the first 8 seconds of the video with Chris singing, and I need to go away from my laptop for a while. Will watch the rest of the video tomorrow.
What a talent....gone sooooooooooooo sooooooooooooooo soon, I just can't.
Ikr, Cornell was a true gem. He's goated, still can't believe he isn't here anymore
I wish I had seen the post for this. I would have suggested Supercentenarian by Sonder. The singer holds a ridiculous note towards the end.
The singer of Landmvrks is actually really interesting. He has the same abilities of chester, but can also rap and does insane low growls. You should check out their album lost in the waves, or some of his live stuff. very impressive. it's way less overproduced as well.
Yaaaaaaaas!!!!! My Chris Cornell suggestion was finally chosen!!
You should try doing QWERTY by Linkin Park. Even more impressive than Given Up (it shouldn't be humanly possible to sing like that)
Hello! I think it's really cool how your content keeps evolving, congratulations! and as I'm Brazilian, I'm going to leave a recommendation of a Brazilian band that I think has impressive vocals! Angra - speed - the final part and high
Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul are some of the best television available!!
If you do one of these again definitely check out "Ode to Solitude" by HIM at 3:09 the low line to that scream just sounds impossible!
That scream is so intense! RIP Chester
The Chester attempt is probably going to result in a lot of Maynard "The Grudge" scream requests. I honestly dont know how the man did that.
yes you did leprous! glad you liked it, einar is one of the greatest vocalists imo. his range, tone, melody writing and versatility are off the charts. I picked that song not only because it's really fucking difficult but also because the screams at the end of the song are very special. that was also the first time in 8 years they used his screams on an album
Chester was just built different.
The thing about how Chester did it in Given Up is that he manages to get a clear sound but he actually keeps the volume pretty low. I imagine that's one of the reasons why he could do that insanely long scream.
That 2019 video of you screaming given up was the first one I watched nice to see how far you’ve come since then
Alissa White-Gluz singing bloodstained cross, that voice crack in the chorus🔥
Mike patton in tomahawk, fantomas, mr bungle etc
Hell yeah!
Billy corgan literally anything. Maybe disarm. “I used to be a little boy!…etc”
CC Karaoke getting some love! Good for him :) His karaoke is the best
I saw CC Karaoke in the video and had to make sure they got a shout out.
Invent Animate - Without a whisper, "yeah, you" at the end is high pitched, maybe its not that hard if you got range, but im in love with whole heavener album for a long time, beautifull choruses, ambience and i think Marcus its great vocalist, so i just will be happy if someone will check it. Also another awesome video Anthony!
good to finally see Leprous on your channel! next time you have to try Alleviate (the last chorus)
Crazy thing is the studio version of given up Chester wails the entire time; he does not stop in the middle
He even did live occasionally so he could definitely pull it off.
you should check AOL or Third Sessions. He actually did the full scream.
I remember doing Self Esteem at karaoke and forgetting that part and shocking myself cause I did it, I felt my voice on the very edge of cracking the entire time but I fucking did it lol
Amazing as always, I'm pretty sure though that Bryan Johnson sings in a heady mixed voice.
@tensecondsongs I'm like 90% certain that Oli from Archspire utilizes several techniques in more of a hybrid scream for like a full circulation so he never has to stop
Your Chris Cornell channeling is setting the charge bro 😎
Im not good at screaming but how chester got his air for given up he sings it like fuc (breath in) kin (breath in) mis (breath in) a (breath in) reyyyyyyy so you build up air in between each syllable. Maybe that will help you hold the note better you got this man. Love your work 👍
the song summergirl - the mayfield four at 3:25 is ASOLUTELY INSANE and i bet even the singer Myles Kennedy could do it live
Chester's scream in I've Given Up will never not be impressive. Definitely one of the hardest and most surprising like Dave Grohl's Monkey Wrench.
Props to you sir for trying to match Chester (RIP)
The aol session version of given up he actually goes the full 17 secs live and his face goes red holding it 🔥
that second latest attempt of Given Up sounds great. you should check AOL sessions if you haven't. Chester did actually scream without pauses.
Such a pleasure to see anthony flex his voice
Please sing all i ask by Adele using Chester Bennington's voice
that would've been disrespectful to dead artists using AI.
I can do the Chester Giving Up's scream. But can't sing that good JUST after ! What he did there was incredible.
to me what makes given up so hard , it is actually that the note he is screaming is so high .. crazy shit
Halls of Vahalla by Judus Priest. You know the part.
I love your talent. You are a master of your craft.
Oh shit thanks for tuning me onto Landmvrks
How about "Inspire the Liars" by Dance Gavin Dance? Or really anything with Tilian singing lead 😂
He surprisingly hit that one note in Here Comes The Winner in a past video
One of my favorite high pitched vocal lines is Cygnus... Vismund Cygnus by The Mars Volta, specifically at the 9 minute mark pretty much exactly until he stops singing, makes me cry that such a man can do such a beautiful voice, lol.
I'd love to hear your take on Rody Walker's vocals!
Check out 1: 24 in The Migrant Mother by Protest The Hero
Ps. I did a 30 second suicide silence high tone scream for the opening of our set when my band used to perform. This was years ago. And more of a clinch rather than breath. Chester was a beast. RIP Chester. Such an icon. Legend.
There will never be someone like Chester ❤
Can’t believe - challenge video! Love such videos, cause you always win, Anthony! Even French rap. Btw, French is easy to pronounce. When I’ve been in Germany and tried to speak Deutsch, they were talking, that I’m speaking French. Miracles.
AC/DC - with all respect, never understood the fun of their vocal.
Leprous - me too impressed by official audio, but didn’t like the live. Then I checked other live shows, true - beautiful clean voice! I thought they are from Eastern Europe by sound, but they are Norwegian.
Don’t know what to compare.. Your vocal is the best, Anthony! And if you are also so modest - that’s your extra win!
Chester was a different Breed and a few types of screams he did, he had a huge lung copasity, watch how he takes in air, how he holds his body part of it is in the posture too .
man I miss him.
Watched many of these "Anthony does impossible vocals" videos and not once Archspire was brought up. Took yall this long but yall did it
R.I.P Chester you legend!
I'd make a joke about selling out, but I know that it would just be coming from a place of jealousy. Besides, Anthony has a really good voice so he sounds great doing ad voiceovers.
You have to do QWERTY from Linkin Park Underground. It is the hardest thing to sing live but so gooooooood when Chester does the switches between mixed and scream in the same chorus. He was goated
AOL Sessions has the full scream without him taking a breath live
Anthony, I think you're the best vocalist in the world! Keep up the good work!
"I don't have enough time to learn French at the mon'ami" I heard it, You can't slip that one by me.
I am a baritone to Type O' Negative bass, and high stuff is always a challenge.
Very interesting, great job on vocals. :) Through this series you started liking Dir En Grey, right? Dir En Grey is Visual Kei band, it's japanese movement as music, fashion and subculture, there are some theatrical elements, you can hear it for example in clean vocals. So, I have some interesting Visual Kei recommendations for you to try. ;)
Dimlim - Vanitas, scream at 2:31 in music video.
Kaya - Salome, difference between low notes from verses and high notes at 3:42 in PV (promotional video) or at 3:32 in audio.
Dexcore - Skindeep, rapping/screaming part at 1:25 in music video.
I hope you will try it!
looked like chester set up his whole body in a perfect position before attempting the scream maybe?
Reaching horizon by Angra or even their cover of Wuthering Heights, Adre Matos was a beast! ❤
Leprous is phenomenal, you're in for a treat
