thank you for sharing this! i still scrub/mop my kitchen on my hands and knees but after seeing this vid, I am ordering the Ocedar mop bucket and the attachments recommended!
I’m just a plain country gal and we washed the walls for spring cleaning and fall cleaning. Everything was pulled away from walls and cleaned under. Also my mom moved the furniture all the time. Never knew how the house would look when you came home from school.
Lol so relatable. I think after about a year and a half at any house, my Mom got bored with rearranging so much in the same house, that we moved again, so she would have somewhere new to rearrange for another year and a half. Lol
I absolutely hate the pole it comes with. Mine never stays extended. So I switched out the pole for one from dollar tree so it stays put and I can push as hard as I want to
I realized I NEEDED to clean the walls with children. I didn't think of mopping them, until one day I was mopping and thought let me just get these walls with this real quick. I had heard of people mopping the walls before but hadn't done it until recently. It worked better than I expected, no more hand scrubbing. Yay.
I do similar. I fill the tub with just hot water, put in Oxyclean and swirl it in using my hand before it gets too hot. Soak for an hour, drain and rinse, then hang them on the clothesline to dry. Zero scrubbing.
I grew up handwashing the walls monthly - we had fireplaces and wood heat so we dealt with soot on our walls however, started using mops on the walls in my college years .
My mom taught me every 3 times a year mop walls. I am from hispanic heritage and I still follow those habits 63 years later maybe not 3 times a year but followed.😃
Murphy’s Oil Soap cleans very well. Especially wood… cabinets, floors, etc. Charlie’s Soap All Purpose Cleaner is an awesome degreaser and cleaner. It is good for the environment. They make other products too. Including laundry powder or liquid that is awesome. It is good for people with allergies or skin sensitivities.
Great video. I only recently got the spin mop. What a game changer for me. I love the extension handle. I have had knee replacement and cannot get down on my hands and knees to do any type of cleaning. Just last week I tackled the under-the-sink cabinet in my kitchen. To say it was a mess would be an understatement. With this mop I was able to sit in a chair and use the mop to clean that cabinet out completely. Vents will be my next project. I only wish I had purchased the spin mop years ago.
@@Nonybusinessxxxxxx I have the O'Cedar spin mop ... the original one, not the newer model with 2 water containers. Wal-Mart has them as well as Amazon. I purchased mine from Costco.
I use my O Cedar for washing my floors, walls and ceilings. It is a time saver. I’ve never used it for blinds, windows, car, or cabinets though. I will try these ideas!
We did too. All of the walls, woodwork, box springs when they *were* springs, radiators, every single thing. We used cloths to clean with, not a mop, but we cleaned everything. Yankee here. 😊
Omg! I love the idea for washing windows and glass doors! You save my life cuz I can’t imagine what I have to do with all my windows and super tall glass doors 😭
I clean my windows the way the pros. do it. Dishwashing liquid in water and then soap up the windows. Then use a squeegy to take it off and that's it. One of those extendable poles from Home Depot. works great. No ,breathing in fumes from that glass spray and a lot cheaper.
The cleanest and best mop is a swifter with a stack of dishrags. If you never put a dirty rag back into the water it remains clean too. Wash the dishrags and reuse. You’re not spreading around dirt anymore. Don’t waste money on paper products for the swifter. Need a brush? Toss a scotch bright green square into the project. You don’t need an expensive mop.
@@user-gh8sl7iu3y the cheapest one without the spray bottle. You don’t need that high dollar stuff either. It has little rubber grippers at each corner. You just poke the dish rag tight into the corners and mop on. When dirty rinse it out and go again or if really nasty grab another dishrag and throw that one into the washer. Do a load of towels after you mop the house. You will never go back to wringing out a nasty mop again. Water stays clean too. If you hit a tough spot put a green scrubby under it or under your foot and keep going .
Using the spin mop for walls, cabinets, etc. is genius! Ever since childhood, I washed walls with a rag and a bucket of hot water and something like Pine Sol. Used to do that twice a year. I'm old now so I only do it once a year. Over the years I've learned about many cleaning systems/routines and almost none of them mentioned washing the walls which shocked me.
Hello fellow PNW neighbor here, I live in the TriCities. I just recently bought the O’Cedar mop and I love it! Thanks for the tips and the mention of the extended handle! Who knew??
Thank you so much! I am going to give this a try on the walls, seems so much better than my way of using a sponge, bucket and ladder. I also use this mop for washing my car, it works great!! And, I use it to dry mop my washer and dryer- mine get dusty quick for some reason. My next experiment is to see how well it works on my aluminum siding, mine needs yearly cleaning on the north side of the house (mold).
@@Sandrab769 Mine never even touches my trash can, they have the truck with an arm that picks it up and dumps it. My can isn't that dirty either, if a bag broke and stuff got down in there then I'd clean it out but otherwise it's not getting cleaned.
I've been seeing that scrub brush attachment lately, and I'm gonna have to get one! I, too, love using my spin mop for wall washing, and it also works well to clean appliance fronts (I spray, let it sit, and wash down with minimal effort)
Vents. Our condo blows dust all over the walls, kit cabinets, furniture. I love mopping the vents to cut down on this. Thanks for supporting this idea.
I would think that it would be best to use an older mop head to clean out garbage cans and then toss it. I would never put it in my washer after washing out garbage cans.😝
I used one on a floor that was filthy from dogs and it got my washer dirty. I should have tossed it. I did run my washer through another cycle to clean it with some bleach.

Clean bathtub and shower with washing powder like Ariel and baking soda and sponge mop. No need for scrub brush. I put mine in the washing machine. I don't know if that's the best for longevity, but I get a 4 pack of mop heads on Amazon for like $21, so they are not too expensive to replace. I clean other people's houses with them, so getting them super clean is a must.
I have been hesitant to wash the walls of our rental home. We have, um, 'pinchy walls' on every wall surface except the kitchen and bathroom. We're in an older century plus home with plaster walls. They crack, we've had water issues. Any techniques or tools that anyone knows that will not scratch the paint off the 'peaks' without scratching the paint off would be so welcome!
I rent a place with flat paint on the walls, so I can't mop them. I do use a floor Swiffer a couple of times per year. It is amazi g what it removes from my textured walls.
I've never washed mine in the machine, but what I do is after using it, I put clean water in the bucket with a little cleaning solution and some bleach, then I agitate the mop in the water, spin dry, then repeat with clean water and a little bleach. The mop always looks nice and clean when I'm done and smells good. I don't know why I do it that way except that I never remember to throw it in the washer.
We ended up getting the maggots in our outdoor trashcan once and it was so bad. It was causing all kinds of problems. So we had to wash it out good.
