Thanks for having me on your channel Thomas, was a pleasure to talk and I hope that everyone watching has a good time and hopefully gets insightful info out of it :)
Somehow found your game on twitter just the other day so it was dope to realize that was your game after a few minutes into the video. I’m a huge original Paper Mario fan and have been so hungry for so many years for another one of those types of games with turn-based combat again.
Ill definitely be checking it out when you’re done! Wish you all the best brother, keep killing it!
@@AtlasGamesDev That's awesome! Hope you'll enjoy the game :)
This was a really nice and useful interview Conrad, thanks a lot (and Thomas ofc).
Could I ask you to please elaborate a bit on how you did freelance work as a designer? I rarely hear that kind of thing where its not art or music, since those are easy to demonstrate and show to potential clients. How did you do it with design? Thx in advance.
Your game looks really amazing Conrad. It is crazy how mature you are in terms of game creation. I wish you best of look with it, and I´m looking forward to see more of your creations :)
you're going crazy your game is awesome, best of luck to you!
*"When it feels scary to dive in, that's exactly when you dive."* It's a quote that i heard from someone.
Love it.
can't believe this guy is in his early 20's. he's got a really bright future ahead of him.
@@NeoHCgbz you think so? I didnt get that impression. He seemed very competent and on top of things. Although he probably does feel burnt out at times.
Ohhh I know youu :D Nice to read your comment here ^^
Thanks for making these interview videos Thomas! Really love the in depth long form videos! :D
Absolutely loving these interviews you do, I've watched the episode with Z multiple times! I've got a game Ive been working on very slowly and hearing about these others devs games, process and possible funding Avenues has lit the fire!
Yeah, that interview with Z was inspiring.
Can you share the link to the episode with Z? I was trying to figure out but the titles don't give away the person.
Very interesting conversation! I love when you bring out indie devs to share their stories, real nice
Stellar interview, very honest and informative.
Hi, just stumbled on your channel. Havnt watched the full vid yet (i will after commenting) but this is for sure inspiring! Gives me the drive to keep going (I've got a team of about 10 people helping me make my game with fantastic art music and whatnot... and it doesnt cost me a cent. pure miracle)
That was really inspiring ! thank you to both of you, best interview so far for me. watching you from france by the way
That was so much inspiring. I quitted game dev years ago but I still am an entrepreneur, working on different projects. And still i find ultra strong advices in the way you see things. I spend much time in writing my strategies, see what has worked and what has failed, and why it did, in order to improve for the next iteration. And by listening to your conversation, i just find keys that are in front of my eyes, but hidden behind the details. I'm deeply grateful for your work. Thank you Thomas, and thanks to Conradical Games.
For the question you ask at the end, about working on different projects, and woundering which one is marketable, which one will be chosen, i think may be you're at this point which Conradical spoke about, where you spent too much days without a stop at doing the same thing, like you "can't even select the right brush" because you can only see details, not the whole pictures. May be close that block for now, take the time to close all those windows opened for too long, finish some other opened tasks, then open a new block with that specific question. The answer might be much more evident.
Thank you ! Greetings from France.
Been following this one, one of my absolute favorites. Wish Conrad all the best!
We need more interviews from you (maybe an official podcast?). You are very good with asking questions and all the people you invited are so cool and interesting.
Watching this game in 2024 and the intro has to come back lol I love the 90s arcade commercial mood lol
Hello Thomas, I found about your game a few days ago and I absolutly love it! keep up the good work, you rock!
Amazing interview
hey mate i just love those type of vids where you make interview with the people who walk the walk. Keep it up as much as possible please
Thanks for the tips . It was really nice watching this.
The “I love you too ending part “😅😅
Very encouraging.
Not sure why this has 13,000 views but only 724 likes, as an indie game dev this is by far one of the most useful YT's I've ever watched.
Would love to see you two collaborate on a game, its almost the perfect Venn diagram.
So many useful tips, a genuine conversation with curiosity on both sides.
I wish you both huge success.
so cool great guest!
I love doing Preproduction, game design docs and stuff like that
Loved the interview! Such an amount of knowledge and amazing work. I am a solo indie game dev known as CokeGaming Studios and this helped me greatly to work effeciently. I hope to use this knowledge in making my next game
These videos really inspire all of us.
This was a great conversation
Love these podcasts
Great video!!! I’ve been trying to create my own platform game since I’ve been in a game art program. Unfortunately, my family have financial problems so I dropped my program and I was feeling unmotivated, this talk totally cheer me up and motivated me to keep developing. Also I tried to get the free 2d game dev kit but I didn't get any mail
This was awesome! I’d love to see Gregorios Kythreotis on the podcast next!
He was on the Level Design Podcast recently if you haven't listened to that
Another awesome video! Very informative and inspiring. Would love to chat with you sometime about your indie development journey.
That intro always killing me.
OUTBOUND GHOST CREATOR!!!!! I love both these creators, and its so great to see them having a conversation XD
Dude I follow this game on Twitter I didn't even know about the guy behind it. Amaze
Great talk! Paper Mario is one of my favorite games and I love the idea of people making spiritual successors. It's sad that video game publishers are still working in outdated models such as requiring big design documents (that they likely don't read) and milestones. I work in industries that are embracing agile methods and stuff like the Scrum framework, and it's chocolate and peanut butter levels good for video games. I am looking forward to seeing more studios embrace it as time goes on. I think it'll help make great games and hopefully reduce the industry's legendarily bad burnout rate. I hope to make my own indie studio someday, and I will definitely be applying what I'm continually learning as an agile coach.
Conrad seems to have kind ❤️
It is super cool today!
P.S.: and yes, his work and this talk are insightful)
Its somehow painful here because those crowdfunding platforms are not available for me here in my country. I would really love to see crowdfunding funding here too. I am already building an fps game but it's really hard without any funding.
You should do a video with a breakdown or advice when spending money n the game how to budget it. from how much do devs usually cost or artist!
This is so beautiful
Any place is good for starting a game studio as long as you feel comfortable there.
Hello sir your videos are always full of inspiration thank you very much for making such wonderful videos.
Nice story, Very intersting
18:25-24:10
Importance of planning
As a paper mario fan, I love this style.
Just start is actually the name of my unity project right now lol
is there any alternative for kickstarter
Sound is too low
yay!
I dislike how society really makes us think that if we don't go to parties and have many friends than we're labeled as "losers". So me not being a party person or a many-friends person, it made me feel good that I wasn't the only person like this... even you two cool peeps are like this a bit too!! Very good video :)
I love this
Funny, how The Outbound Ghost, when watching a trailer was a game in the "cute, ain't interested" category.
And after this interview I was like "wishlisted, the creator is my one-man (even if he hires people) gamedev-army hero".
Just letting you know the audio is really low. Was much harder to hear than your other videos.
The publisher ended up fucking them over tho. Its important for me to come back and mention it, because Thomas is always too quick to dismiss the risks involved with publishers.
I love these, but my name is Konrad, so it was kinda funny to hear you keep saying it 😅
Nobody:
Thomas: 3 tips and hacks to yada yada yada yada😂
Take advantage of the time you have when you are young and can live on a 200$ budget. When you have family you are forced to make a steady income of at least 4000$ so its not really a option to do it for a living full time, you have to scramble on the few hours you have and hope to struck gold pretty much.
I don't think being preoccupied with worldy things is wise anymore.
I went to 1 party haha. And... I never want to sleep . I just want to work on things constantly haha. Not healthy.
nicee
Most 22-year-olds also don't know how to properly use "tangential"
conan looks hot lol
Any game made in 1 month ain’t nothing special lol
