this is danny devito's best acted episode of the series. The depth he goes to for humor, tragedy, and anguish he goes through with the therapist is fantastic
Glenn's delivery when he is doing his bit about the executioner's switch is so damn good. Alot of people think he would make a great horror movie villain but I dunno....as much as he pulls off evil and menacing, he's still so damn funny. I don't know if I'd take it seriously lol
@@ericka_akcire2193 I responded to this hours ago and was just talking about a really good Will Ferrell movie that Glenn was in and YT deleted it. Censorship be outta control on here anymore.
I loved the looks on ya'll's faces as you slowly realized that Frank was very much telling the truth, lol. Honestly one of my favorite scenes in the show.
“Charlie work is basement stuff, cleaning urinals, blood stuff, your basic slime, your sludges anything dead or decaying you know im on it! I love the dark, I love slippery things, I love being naked…in the sewer, bleach smells good…and tastes good…” - Charlie
Yessssssssssssssssssss! I’ve always thought this idea could have been a whole a season. An opening ep with all the characters, then each character gets a whole ep being analysed, then bring them all back together for a final episode.
Another classic! I wouldn’t call their characters exaggerated in this one. It’s more like highlighting their flaws and quirks, showcased in a short rapid fire style
The credits scene with Dee breaking the plates you can tell its improvised. I lost count of how many times i repeated that scene to watch the therapist genuine reaction and Dennis and mac lauhing and in disbelief of what Kaitlin is doing
Normally for this show, and especially for an episode like this in the later seasons, Dennis is my favorite character, both in the way he’s written and how incredibly Glenn Howerton performs it. This is one of the rare times where the entire cast is operating on Dennis’s level. Mac’s solo sesh was incredible and among his very best performances. Charlie shows us the complete insanity that’s going on in his mind. Frank… what else is there to say, this is probably DeVito’s best performance of the entire series. This is one of Dee’s best scenes in the series. Dennis in this episode is still the best out of the 5, and Glenn’s acting performance is probly tied with DeVito for the top spot out of the 5. But damn, all 5 of the solo sessions were virtually flawless. And the executioner’s switch monologue is some of the best work that any character on any sitcom has ever had. 😂
Remember when I told you there is an episode about Mac's Weightloss. This is it. It is only mentioned by word and only passively. But technically it is some kind of D-sideplot
9:41 lol I gotta be honest… I absolutely hate these and tbh I’m not even sure why they bother me so much but they just do. (When they’re done mid-reaction opposed to pre or post reaction)
I want that one. I've seen it and it is rad. I got a fight milk hat and when Brandon...the first UA-camr to react to this show...got one and you see the gang wearing them in season 12, they got ones that look like a fitted cap made by a high end company. When my fight milk hat arrived over a month after the order, it was made like one of those smashed "#1 dad" hats you see for 5 bucks at your local gas station. I probably won't order Sunny merch from FX again.
@@Rob_Cary brandon is dope i remember seeing that hat in his reactions and i think charlie and mac wore it on the ufc episode? Bummer that it wasn’t quality, although i would rock a cheap hat for work. pretty sure the shirt i got was 3rd party and its on the thin side but its comfortable.
Hey gents, it’s been a while! Took a break at the end of last season, and now you’re up to ep5. Nice. This is one of my top 20. I am 99% sure that Frank mentioned being in a home for the mentally challenged at least once before. Much more briefly though.
2k likes? almost at 9k likes, pretty good, this is honestly a classic episode of the show, i mean the show is amazing but this is just something else, they are such weird characters
I liked back when they used to beep the word fuck and only use it once every 30 or so episodes. Now(In the modern seasons) they include it, fully uncensored, as part of the written dialogue in multiple episodes per season and it's not as funny.
@@dukesilver2308 I know why they do it. I think it's less funny and is part of why the later seasons aren't as funny. Saying "fuck" is only funny when it's not allowed. Using it as generic dialogue loses its impact, and takes away from a joke in my opinion.
Agreed tbh, “f bombs” add weight to something when they have the element of surprise. But watching from the UK I was surprised to realise how few swears there were, because UK and Irish edgier mainstream comedies use them constantly (eg Peep Show, Derry Girls) - I always imagine a million “fucks” in Always Sunny but I’m glad when they’re not there since good comic writers have to find workarounds and that can be absolute gold.

Also you know Dr Mantis Toboggan woulda offered them an egg in this trying time for about $100 less than this therapist, what a rip off 🥚🤣
Well played sir.

He actually is in one of my favorite horror movies, The Strangers. But he's not a villain

@@Rob_Cary :o
@@ericka_akcire2193 His performance was mindblowing in the strangers!
this is the episode i show people to get them into sunny but also to show them how mental they all are
This episode shows how well these guys know their characters and how much depth there is to them, even when Mac is sucking on a pen.
I loved the looks on ya'll's faces as you slowly realized that Frank was very much telling the truth, lol. Honestly one of my favorite scenes in the show.
The Therapist literally asks Frank a single question lmao
my head's fort knox!
*proceeds to spill guts*
My head cannon is whenever Charlie is smarter than usual is a day he didn’t huff glue
I always love how he starts with "my skull is fort knox", and all it takes is "Why do you hate therapists" to reduce him to a weeping mess.

There are so many good episodes but this has to be one of my personal favorites
brilliant ep. it's a great one to introduce people to if they've never watched the show
"Through God, all things are possible... So jot that down."

Danny DeVito was in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest for those unaware.
I love that they got the craziest cop from reno 911 to play the psychiatrist here.
The credits scene with Dee breaking the plates you can tell its improvised. I lost count of how many times i repeated that scene to watch the therapist genuine reaction and Dennis and mac lauhing and in disbelief of what Kaitlin is doing
You unzipped me!
She was always smiling…. That’s because she had no lips… lmfao
At some point, ya gotta just step back and admire the level of quality that The Gang sustains…
YEAH!! DOUBLE D SUNNY Time❤❤

This was one of the episodes I'd skip during my multiple times of rewatching the series. It grew on me though.
rewatching this makes me want to see you guys try Reno 911
maybe just the movie, its a bit out of date nowadays
Good ol Trudy...

not a fan of the thousands of zoom-ins for the editing on this one lol

It's not bleeped in the later seasons because the show moved networks from FX to FXX and the censorship rules aren't as strict
