My all-time favorite character I've ever played was a golden grung monk/ranger named Frek'el using the race stats from the One Grung Above adventure. He was trained as a shadow monk by a Banderhobb and went on an epic adventure with the party. I played him as neutral evil the entire game, but he generally only did things that could be misconstrued as something a trickster might do. When he inevitably did something truly evil, the rest of the players were shocked saying "but he's too cute to be evil!"
I would love to see you tackle the kuo-toa, especially their ability to create gods with their imagination! I think you would have a very interesting take on the idea.
The Kuo-toa would definitely be some of my favourite ones to draw! I can't remember if they've been suggested before or not though, so I'll make sure they're on my "to draw" list for you! Thanks so much for your suggestion and for watching!
I absolutely love Grungs, in fact my current character is a homebrew Grung Artificer. He has an Iron defender that he has a rocket raccoon and Groot relationship with. The play-ability of Grungs are absolutely amazing and I'd definitely recommend it. I love monster Mondays, and I hope you keep up the good work!
I can't wait to cover the warforged, but I think I'm going to do that in a sort of player species deep dive thing at some point in the future. Hill giants definitely count as monsters, so I'll make sure my patrons get to vote on those for you! Thanks so much for your suggestion and for watching!
These are some of my favorites. I love how each color of grung has its own kind of role in society and also it's own patterning of darker splotches. The wizkids unpainted line is going to be releasing miniatures of these in November and I am so excited paint them. Great video as always. Keep up the amazing work!
I threw these at my players once. They were traveling through a bog and unbeknownst to them were watched by a group of grung. They noticed that my players helped an injured sloth and planned an ambush. They pretended to be wounded frogs (with some minor wounds to sell the story). My players ran straight up to them and began bandaging them to heal them. Needless to say it did not go will for my party and they ended up as slaves for a while. They ended making a deal with a Hezrou (who was trapped and worshipped as a short of Godly messenger to the grung) to be set free. Can't wait for my players to return to this area if they ever do. It's going to be a bit different.
Love using these guys and have been for years. Most recently nearly dropped a free level 3 characters with just two Grung ambushing them and I just couldn't stop rolling Nat 20s for them lol also Quicklings please! ❤️
Oh I remember recommending this a while ago. And that was probably last year or sooner. This must have been on the list for a while there was somebody before me who recommended before me
Heya, Emil! Right?! You two voted extremely close to one another. I'd say maybe only a month or so apart! Still, I'm glad your suggestion came up! Cheers for watching!
Arcane Forge If I still have your attention, may I recommend another creature: The mighty Hollyphant. I read through descent into avernus recently and found the character of Lulu absolutely adorable.
Hey Arcane Forge, great video as usual! Just FYI, Grung are actually not new to DnD. They existed as far back as 1988 in the Greyhawk setting (specifically the Monster Compendium Appendix: Greyhawk). The reason people think they're new is because they basically disappeared after 2e and only just made their way back into DnD in 5e with Volo's. These poor froggis have long been forgotten.
You know, I sort of overlooked the grung, but this video has given me a ton of inspiration for them! Too bad my current campaign is nowhere near a jungle... I guess I'll just have to keep them in mind later.
Hmm I would love to see your take on more fey creatures since they can be kinda hard to grasp. One that I love that has almost no art is Neifion the Lord of Bats. I had planed to use him as a patron for a future warlock but I would love to show off some great artwork of him.
Have you heard of the Zeugalak? It's an elephant sort of creature which lets itself get struck by lightning so it can teleport into the sky due to it's natural ability, and it'll fall to the ground because it's a thrilling experience for the creature. It's a very "unique" creature I think you would have a chuckle learning about or even drawing
That is so bizarre, Angelos! I'd not heard of these guys before you mentioned them, so I had to give them a google and they seem like they'll be great fun to draw! I'll make sure to add this to the "to draw" list for you! Thanks so much for your suggestion and for watching!
I've not drawn the Puprle worm yet, Dino, but I'd have loads of fun with that, sop I'll make sure it's on my "to draw list" if it's not already for you! Thanks so much for your suggestion and for watching!
Heya Bart! Either of those would be great, and very infrequently requested beasts, so I'll make sure to pop them on the "to draw list" for you! Thanks so much for your suggestions and for watching!
Once again another fantastic upload. I am glad you addressed my query within the starting minutes of this video, notifying the larger audience that you are willing to add to the list of potential monster mondays any creature design which applies to 5th edition dungeons and dragons. On that note I must say theres some fun ones I enjoy from kobold press which includes the kot bayun (essentially a cheshire cat like creature) and the zimwi which is a sub-species of giant kin that has the head of a lion and a bag of holding as their stomach giving them an insatiable hunger that can never be satiated. Final query from me this time is a monster I have not seen drawn by you yet but assume someone has recommended previously would be the ettin, the two headed giant kin. You seem to enjoy giant kin or at least the styalisation of those creatures when drawing so I thought that may be something neat. Thank you so much for this series and I apologies for my blabber mouth once again.
Hey Gluttony! Don't worry about blabbering! It's what I'm here for! Waaaayyy too many great suggestions here. I'll make sure they're all on my "to draw" list for you and we can see what my patrons pick! Thanks so much for your ideas and for watching!
I got something pretty interesting. I don’t remember if it was from the Tome of Beasts or from the Creature Codex. But anyway it’s called a a Rift Swine.
Oooohhh, the Rift swine rings a bell, but I can't place it! Either way, I'll make sure to search my many tomes of monsters and make sure this is on the "to draw" list for you, Yorrick! Cheers for watching!
If the Kobold Press monsters are options, why not draw the Eater of Dust? They are fiend mercenaries that have a massive mouth on their arm that will give players exhaustion levels. Great body horror potential in this awesome fiend!
I use a Grung in our campaign, one way that I get around the water dependency is I have one of our party members carry a large bowl in their bag and I just use a water skin or two to fill it with water and take a bath. Also I am a paladin wielding a Warhammer. I happened to legitimately roll excellent so the character is quite overpowered. His goal is to become a golden grung (he is orange) By the way the art is amazing
Thanks so much for your kind words, Mr Opinionated! That's a really smart idea in regards to the improvised grung bath. What's your character's name? Cheers for watching.
@@ArcaneForge characters name is some long nonsense but players call him Seven ( because every time I rolled for his stats I said in my mind Lucky Number 7 before I let the dice roll and I Got High Rolls each time) the party really likes him. And I have the Goliath carry the bowl since he's the one with the biggest backpack and I need a bowl big enough so a two-foot-tall frog could take a bath in it. And of course I look forward to seeing more of your videos pop up on my feed.
Heya Purpleboye! Thanks so much for your suggestion. A few people are interested in this one, and I'm definitely up for it. I've been meaning to do some playable species deep dives so they may fall more under that category, so hopefully I'll get around to that sort of thing soon! Thanks for watching!
My fiancee is still of the opinion that Grung and Fire Newts look way too cute to be evil aligned monsters. I'm inclined to agree, but we'll see if I can't change her tune in Tomb of Annihilation lol
Thanks so much for your kind words, Cosmic Fleshy! Thankfully, I've already had a chance to draw these slithering evildoers! Here's a link for you: ua-cam.com/video/AiSFoMKWsKk/v-deo.html Thanks so much for taking the time to make a suggestion anyway, and for watching!
@@Jpteryx Check this out, no shit! my buddy is at my house and he picks up TODAY my DM Screen and the Grippli page from the Monstrous Compendium is IN THE SCREEN LOOSE. f'ING amazing. we were jumping yelling "no way" like we won the superbowl of D&D =) bunch of other cool stuff in my DM Screen too!
