Since the zhuiqin usually has just two strings, I think you're right that he actually said "三弦、坠琴和大提琴" rather than "三弦坠琴和大提琴."

Wu Yuxin didn't say anything about a "three-stringed pianoforte," he said "san xian zhuiqin" (三弦坠琴, 3-stringed zhuiqin), a huqin used to accompany narrative singing from some parts of China.
