Carol Burnett gets my vote for #1. Her performance was bone chilling. The way she just casually tossed her "nephew" Chet under the bus still sends shivers down my spine.
@@harlequeenchannel Alot of people knew that he did dramatic roles. Some of his most recognized movies were drama. Good Will Haunting and Dead Poet Society just to name a few.
Spoiler alert: Robin Williams' character Merritt Rook in "Authority" is one of my favorite villainous roles. A sound engineer by trade, Rook goes on a crusade against authority figures, even going so far as to insult lawyers in open court (the clip you see where he talks about his bail money includes a scene with a quote "Why would I want some hack public defender?" or something like that). While Rook himself doesn't commit many of the crimes, his profession allows him to disguise his voice, manipulating several other characters into doing it for him. He's brazen and arrogant - he puts up his own apartment as collateral for his bail. He acts as his own attorney, he outright accuses the tech guy of manipulating the image, and he even cries out "Thank you!" to the jury when he wins his case. The truly creepy part, and I still get chills to this day watching it, is the final ten or so minutes. We find out that his disdain for authority was pushed over the edge when his wife and baby died in labor because he trusted the word of an alcoholic doctor that there wouldn't be any issues, but the doctor made a mistake. Rook was hellbent on getting revenge, so he disguised his voice and constantly harassed the doctor until he committed suicide. He kidnaps Det. Benson and rigs a room to look like it has explosives in it. He makes Stabler shock her - a modification of the infamous Milgram experiment - in order to save her life. And he threatens that the shock is real, and if Stabler refuses to do it, he'll increase both the voltage and the length of the shock. One of Robin Williams' best performances I ever saw, and I have to agree with this list for once.
Sorry I'm late to the party. I never forgot that episode; it was based on the incidents in fast food restaurants where a creep would call, pretending to be a cop. I was completely disgusted by the stories but fascinated at the same time; I'll admit that I was raised in the same attitude. You did what adults told you to do, what authority said. It wasn't even up for discussion. God help us all. Robin Williams was magnificent.
Where's Ludacris, Jesse McCartney, Bradley Cooper, Sarah Hyland, James Van der Beek, John Ritter, Henry Winkler, Amanda Seyfried, Brittany Snow, Kathy Griffin.... So many memorable spots that they missed!!!
Pablo Schreiber should defiantly be on this list! His portrayal of William Lewis is amazing! Not to mention he came back as that character for many episodes! Amazing.
Martin Short’s cameo was mind blowing. So did Carol Burnett’s, especially since Matthew Lillard, whom I love was also in it. And Robin WIlliams has never done a bad acting job he was amazing.
um wow Ludacris should have def been on this list. His character was incredibly evil and he played it well. Also Rose McGowan deserved an honorable mention at least.
Marcia Gay Harden belonged on the list and not as an honorable mention. Every episode she did was incredible, esp RAW. To watch her play a racist while undercover and then find out who she really was, it was just incredible
@@Silvio67 I agree completely. To me, it's like they rewrote her character to become a bad person. Completely different from who we had seen in episodes prior. I hated they did that to her

She had already been on criminal minds when she did this. It might have been filmed during their haitus or during that brief time when she was written off CM.
Leslie Caron’s guest star performance in Season 8, Episode 3, titled “Recall”, is gut-wrenching and powerful. She more than earned the Emmy she won and it is my favorite SVU guest star performance. She made me cry.
Agreed! I cannot believe that your comment appears to be the only one that mentions her performance and that it didn't make this list. It should have been top 3, if not number 1. I watch the last scene where she speaks to the latest victim, then to Dani, and then walks off with a new lightness over and over and reacts to each piece differently. I also cry each time.
Martin Short's cameo completely changed my perspective of him. I can no longer see him on tv or in a movie without hearing go "That was the sex I ever had." in that gravely voice he used on the phone.
By the same token, I never looked at Whoopi the same way after watching her character just lose it on the stand when all the horrors she’s seen over the years finally catch up to her.
Ludacris destroyed the whole svu. He was amazing. That whole episode was one of my favorites. Robin Williams was great too. Fred Savage was creepy. Bob Sagat was crazy.
SVU is one of the best quality series on tv, and has been consistently. I have seen a lot of these episodes, it's great that these actors get casted, they did a fantastic job. John stamos played a disgusting creep very convincingly

Great list but you missed the best one; YES even better than Robin Williams. May I introduce you to: John Ritter. His performance deserves recognition 🏆
I guess Mojo doesn't know the meaning of the word 'Cameo'-That means a BRIEF appearance on a show or in a movie, not a role the whole episode is centered on
john ritter's son jason also made an appearance in the earlier seasons when he and his brother kidnapped 2 girls and it turned out that his brother was raping him
Ok Williams and Nixon legitimately scared me and I LOVED IT! They were both enigmatic and darkly magnetic while encapsulating the sense of dredd and villainy the show casts on its antagonists
I loved the episodes with _Emily VanCamp_ and _Julie Bowen._ Those performances were amazing, and the fact that Emily's character remains the only female character to successfully break the two-way glass mirror in the interrogation room with her bare hand is extremely cool. Also, the twist in the episode with Julie Bowen was fantastic!
lunarnut Especially since Bradley Cooper (who shouldn’t be on here since it was pre-Hangover) is Molina (her son who she manipulates - rich old NYC women who appear on SVU have their own special rung of Hell)’s lawyer.
Isabelle Huppert belonged on this list big time (Season 11 Finale, "Shattered"). It was a rare treat for American audiences to see one of France's two greatest living female actors (the other being Catherine Deneuve), especially on a commercial network! I'm sure many folks had never heard of her, but if you thought her role as a distraught mother was explosive, check out Claude Chabrol's "Story of Women" or Michael Haeneke's "The Piano Teacher" where she's at her finest, or even Michael Cimino's epic western "Heaven's Gate".
Jennifer Love Hewitt was great in this episode, but James Legros was good as well. You should also included Jerry Lewis & Ellen Burstyn. She was great as Elliots troubled mother.
I feel like y’all SERIOUSLY need to do a part 2 to this. Ludacris, Dean Cain and Rebecca DeMornay deserve a nod! So many great guest appearances to name!
Good list. It's interesting to note that practically half of the cast of Modern Family have had guest appearances on that show, as well as most of the cast of Meloni's former show Oz and the original Broadway cast of RENT. My favorite show and I love the celebrity cameos, the acting is usually so good and spot on. It's great to especially see people who are normally comedic do drama; it's like a whole new world. Also, is the guy with Carol Burnett Matthew Lillard? Because it looks a lot like him.
I love this show... Eric McCormack's performance was spine-chilling. Knowing him from Will & Grace, he's miles from that role. He really should've been on the list instead of honorable mentions.
These were all fantastic performances but a few were overlooked. Henry Winkler had a good role in episode as did Martha Plimpton and Mary Steenburgen and recently Brad Garrett had a good 2 episode arc. And Anthony Edwards was good on recent episode too
Robin's performance was so chilling in that episode. He channeled everything he brought to _Insomnia_ and _One Hour Photo,_ and then some. The scary thing is we don't know whether or not he got away at the end.
Part 2, part 3, part 4. There are so many amazing guest performances on this show. It seems to be an environment for actors who love acting to come on this show and just really let their talent shine. Never have I seen anyone "phone it in" or act like they are just there for a paycheck.
Whoopi’s episode was so real!!! When she went off in the court room on the stand about how overwhelmed Social Workers are... I felt that!!! They have no idea the amount of cases Social Services workers receive!!!
Mike Tyson's cameo in the episode titled "Monster's Legacy" in which he played a convicted murderer should've at least gotten an honorable mention on this list.
So many really good guest stars throughout the L&O history. I rewatched X-Files a few years ago, and was amazed how many up and comers were on that as a well. Funny you do think about them at the time, first run. It was only as I got into re-runs.
I really hope there's a part two for this lists because there was so many great SVU cameos like Ludacris, Sarah Hyland, Brad Garrett, Brittany Snow, Kathy Griffin, Tony Hale, Bradley Cooper, Abigail Breslin, Elizabeth Banks, Amanda Seyfried, Ian Somerhalder, Milo Ventimiglia, James Van Der Beek, Miranda Lambert, Chloe Sevigny, Rose McGowan, Melissa Joan Hart, Lili Reinhart, Fred Savage, Lynda Carter, Michael K Williams and so many more
Cynthia Nixon was my all time favourite cameo as Janis Donovan. The scene where she shows up at Stablers house with his wife there was so chilling. You couldn't tell whether Janis actually had Dissociative Identity Disorder or pure Psychopath using the idea of D.I.D. to her advantage.
This is a very good list, Law and Order SVU, the original Law and Order and Law and Order CI always gets the best guest stars, WatchMojo should do another SVU list, one for the original and CI too.
Robin Williams did an excellent job on law and order SVU, God rest his soul.
they also forgot to mention his char in the show didn't get caught either he got away at the end and i always hoped for a part2 for him but now that he is dead that day will never come :(

Robin's performance was so chilling in that episode. He channeled everything he brought to _Insomnia_ and _One Hour Photo,_ and then some. The scary thing is we don't know whether or not he got away at the end.
Cynthia Nixon is my fav, 110%.
That episode is just simply amazing.
i know that Mickey Hargitay (Mariska's father) appeared in an episode share a scene with his daughter
Brian Alvinson yea season 5 episode’s control
Robin def deserves number 1! I was rooting for him so much and was hyped when he got away 😂🙌🏽 NEED PART 2 ASAP
Part 2, part 3, part 4. There are so many amazing guest performances on this show. It seems to be an environment for actors who love acting to come on this show and just really let their talent shine. Never have I seen anyone "phone it in" or act like they are just there for a paycheck.
You hit this one perfectly. Robin Williams' character is so underrated, and crazy creepy. One of the greatest episodes.
I think Martha Plimpton should have been added.
Absolutely!
Was she on SVU? I know she was on Law and Order: Criminal Intent.
Jett Allyson yea she was on the same episode as Mary Steenburgen who played her mother in the episode
Wasn't Ed Asner in that episode as well?
I loved this ep!
Jan Brady, I meant Eve Plumb, is also in that episode
I waited on Mike Tyson. He was pretty cool and chill. He didn't rape me either,so there's that..
@@Partypooperfanmade I bet you make that lame ass joke every time Tyson's name comes up, am I right???
So many really good guest stars throughout the L&O history. I rewatched X-Files a few years ago, and was amazed how many up and comers were on that as a well. Funny you do think about them at the time, first run. It was only as I got into re-runs.
Finally a list I can get behind! DUNDUNN!
OMG, I also remember seeing Wallace Shawn make a cameo appearance on this show and he was an awesome choice for the part.
Now I need to watch more SVU!!! I love that show!!!
I really hope there's a part two for this lists because there was so many great SVU cameos like Ludacris, Sarah Hyland, Brad Garrett, Brittany Snow, Kathy Griffin, Tony Hale, Bradley Cooper, Abigail Breslin, Elizabeth Banks, Amanda Seyfried, Ian Somerhalder, Milo Ventimiglia, James Van Der Beek, Miranda Lambert, Chloe Sevigny, Rose McGowan, Melissa Joan Hart, Lili Reinhart, Fred Savage, Lynda Carter, Michael K Williams and so many more
where's Henry Winkler, who's best known for that one episode of Law & Order SVU?
That was one great Law and Order SVU episode!
another good one missed.
Don't forget the men, forgot their names, that Merle and Daryl Dixon that appeared on separate SVU episodes before the walking dead.
Greed in year 3 episode 20
Ummmmm while that IS a GREAT episode and he was amazing.... Really he's "best known" for that one episode??
Robin Williams even got away in the episode he was in!
R.I.P. Robin.
That Robin Williams episode still gives me chills. I miss him everyday. 💔
brandomeow That man was an artist
Cynthia Nixon is good in pretty much everything.
I miss Robin Williams even more now... 😔
Saw Robin Williams in the thumbnail and clicked immediately.
John Karna in season 16, Holden’s Manifesto. His portrayal of Holden March is absolutely chilling.
There needs to be more Top 10 SVU lists
i wish they would
Cynthia Nixon was my all time favourite cameo as Janis Donovan. The scene where she shows up at Stablers house with his wife there was so chilling. You couldn't tell whether Janis actually had Dissociative Identity Disorder or pure Psychopath using the idea of D.I.D. to her advantage.
The ending of that Robin Williams episode...speechless..
Amy Smart and Ludacris were amazing too and deserve a spot on this list.
This is a very good list, Law and Order SVU, the original Law and Order and Law and Order CI always gets the best guest stars, WatchMojo should do another SVU list, one for the original and CI too.
