Thank you Vanessa! Always an inspiration for those who fight for justice and human rights. Great woman who will never stop denouncing crimes. "Stop the killing, stop the siege, stop the occupation." Vanessa Redgrave
"It would be a mistake to see this as an Israeli question because all the great powers have an urgent interest in maintaining this conflict" - Vanessa Redgrave ..Truer words were never spoken. Listen to what she says without seeing her with the erroneous preconception of her as an anti-Semite.
What is your defense of Zionism, MAD4MALAGATANI? That Jews deserve a homeland? Isn't that turning a bit hollow as Israel acts so cruel, contemptuous of International Law, selling out as a henchman to the cruel US Empire as it's protector? I am an American Jew greatly ashamed of both the US and Israel. The US hasn't been fostering freedom and democracy around the world, fellas, just the opposite. That's what these videos try to teach to open minds, so we can become a good nation.
I was lucky enough to go to NYC to see Year of Magical Thinking. It was my 1st time to see her LIVE. Awe-inspiring performance. I applaud her courage and strength of character.
@kesslerj1 kesslerj1 writes " I am sure if terrorists were attacking your town you would want your country to react accordingly." Indeed. And I'm equally certain that should someone usurp your generational homeland without your consent you'd be more than slightly up in arms. You've just proven my point with that one statement.
@kesslerj1 writes " Every nation has a right to defend itself from those who are trying to kill its citizens PERIOD" So this applies to Iraq when it was invaded erroneously by G.W. Bush's intentional misdirection? By your manner of thinking it ought to. This imposition of Western Culture on the Fertile Crescent is a VERY slippery slope.
it was people like her that created the Mideast conflict to begin with. an interesting fact about her is that she's British yet Catholic. now how does that work?
@kesslerj1 @kesslerj1 ... it's not essential she "love" everything about the Palestinians anymore than it's essential she approve of everything about the Israelis. She's probably one of the world's most intelligent political voices. The word "buffoon" is the very last word one could reasonably use to describe Miss Redgrave. Jewish Orthodoxy hardly welcomes gays and places women on a par with men. Let's not lie to ourselves shall we?
@kesslerj1 I was raised as a Christian though that is not my affiliation now. It appears kessler that you require all Jews (practicing and non) to follow the constraints of thinking you demonstrate. By that same token were I to enforce some of the ideology of those who share the faith in which I was raised I'd be an abomination even to myself. You're arguing semantics now. And you're paranoic beyond your due.
@Shubael1809 and no.. I don't find the French Canadians appealing. They have a huge chip on their shoulders just as the Irish do (more often than not).
@2haveaniceday @@haveaniceday- Vanessa Redgraves makes no apologies. Watch the Mike Wallace interview here on UA-cam and perhaps you'll begin to look at things without your own biases weighing in. She's not "allied" with anyone except those who are justified in feeling oppressed. Gee! Sometimes that's NOT the Jewish people. Imagine thats..
@2haveaniceday who writes: "I suggest you see a shrink ....a Jewish one . That will be $50 for this consultation Sir. hahahahah". This is the remark of a bigoted child. Anyone who needs to write "hahahahah" after what they consider amusing has no conviction to rational thought. That you zero=in on a Jewish stereotype as you rail against Redgrave you're exposed as that troll you are. You simply envy Redgrave's background and that she's pure quality. This is no surprise
@2haveaniceday who wrote: "I did press a raw nerve" .. The euphemism is "hit" a nerve, not "press a raw nerve". I've come to the conclusion you're not bright enough to grasp Miss Redgrave's stance. Additionally you choose your biases to suit your own unresolved issues from childhood. By the way. I'm a homosexual man.
@kesslerj1 I've asked you several times now kessler to think with some semblance of proportion given the circumstances that the Palestinians were given no choice but to surrender their land for the state of Israel. ONE MORE TIME; how would you feel if your little corner of the world was multilaterally taken from you and assigned to ... oh let's say for the sake of argument .. all the homosexuals who chose to call it their "homeland"?
@2haveaniceday "uppity English accent"? She's an Englishwoman! How do you expect her to sound? And she's an educated resolute Englishwoman at that. Your post smacks of envy and reverse snobbery.
@2haveaniceday It's pretty obvious to me 2have that you have a strong inclination toward paranoia. The "french can't stand me"? I travel to France which yearly. I speak their native tongue. They respect and like me as I do them. Try and remember this is about the video in which Redgrave denounces the attacks on Gaza. Watch it again. You have a comprehension promblem.
@Shubael1809 I am not asking you to believe anything. But at least you should acknowledge that a country has a right to defend citizens regardless of whether you think that the country is legitimate or not. The operations in Gaza and Lebanon were simply Israel defending citizens from missiles. While some civilians were killed, the operations were justified. Even though you may not like the US, I am sure if terrorists were attacking your town you would want your country to react accordingly.
@2haveaniceday "sting you at the end of a robe" ... so would all Orthodox Jews!!! Get a grip on world events "dear". And my homosexuality wasn't a 'revelation' it was a declaration to see how you'd react. And your first language is English (albeit poor). Why don't you actually LISTEN to what Redgrave has to say rather than condemn it out of hand. You have your biases and cannot support them. She has none.
@2haveaniceday Try and retain topical. The French Canadians have zero to do with Vanessa Redgrave's stance on the Gaza issue. Stay topical unless your only reason for interacting is to requite some desire to volley negatively with another poster. I have no connection with French Canadians. I interact with the French in Europe. Your slam to the English is very telling. It's pure jealousy, bigotry, and ignorance.
@2haveaniceday Don't presume to confuse a resolute stance with anger. Further, you have no ability to affect my mood. How 'pompous'. Yet you call the English "ridiculous and pompous English"? I'm English. If I were to say "I don'y envy those aggressive and money-grubbing Jews" imagine the flack. You defeat yourself with your need to pigeon-hole people into manageable groups. The only "cult" I see is the one to which you subscribe. Listen to the video. The woman's INFORMED.
@2haveaniceday poverina... non me piace scrivere più con te. Perhaps you can avail yourself of your suggested "Jewish shrink" in order to overcome your obsessive compulsive disorder.
@Shubael1809 I agree that all humans deserve civil rights. But, if a people support a terrorist state (like Hamas in Gaza) that calls for the destruction of another state and launches missiles against that other state, then they should expect force to be used against them. Think about the bombing of Dresden against the Nazis or bombing in Tora Bora or the battle of Fullujah in the Iraqi Freedom campaign. The Israeli operation in Gaza was a justified and measured response to terrorism.
Thank you Vanessa!

She was right then as now.
God bless this great woman for having the courage to speak the truth.

What an absolutely ignorant and stupid comment!
I support Israel.
@2haveaniceday needs to pipe down. The explanation points used to distraction are a sign of your immaturity. Are you a Jew?
