Both are guitar masters but I have to give my vote to Yngwie. He was the one that really changed how I looked at playing guitar. Yngwie is the best!
Overrated and stale
The ONLY ABSOLUTE BEST !!! THE ONLY ABSOLUTE NUMBER ONE !!!!!
Malmsteen never used enough distortion, except for on Magnum Opus. Impellitteri sounded like true Heavy Metal.
THANK YOU GOOD SIR! I thought I was the only one who would pick Yngwie! He is an asshole, but one who changed metal forever!
@@StreetFighter2010 YJM could not carry Chris' lunchbox. This is among the best Impellitteri you can find: ua-cam.com/video/p4hFyc-LqkE/v-deo.html
Chris Impellitteri reigns in precision and speed. You can't mention Impellitteri without giving a nod to probably the best power metal vocalist Rob Rock. What a dominate duo.
They're the best
the Graham Bonnet era was amazing too!
i was listening to the first impellitteri ep and steeler live in reseda. yngwie was just as fast but he had beautiful tone and articulation. impellitteri used so much more gain and palm mute it had no beauty.
Rob Rock is probably the most underrated metal singer ever! He's up there with the masters in range, technique, color, attitude, articulation, etc. His interpretation of "When a Blind Man Cries" with Axel Rudi Pell is legendary material.
@@vanguard4065 the first Impelliteri EP, more specifically the solo for "Lost in the Rain" put Chris on the map. But I agree. If you compare Yngwie and Chris' first opuses, Yngwie just had a lot more music in him, back then.
FINALLY!!!!! SOMEBODY showing Chris Impellitteri the proper amount of respect he is due. Malmsteen in widely regarded as the greatest living guitarist in the metal scene today; but Chris Impellitteri is also an incredibly accomplished guitarist in his own right. It's just sad that he hasn't gotten the notoriety here in the states that he really should have. He's HUGE in Japan and has been for nearly 30 years.
Thanks mate , you are absolutely right !
Impelliteri is AMAZING
"Malmsteen in widely regarded as the greatest living guitarist in the metal scene today"....really?? That is one bold statement there, based on what?
@@GordonHeaney Damn straight ,maybe neoclassical,but that's questionable.
@@davidsmith-jj4iq I was a huge fan of Yngwie in the 80's, he blew me away as no one else sounded like him when I first heard him in 1986. But after that> And now? I think he has his place in guitar history but I think only hardcore fans think he's the most respected of the last 30 years. I would say Vai, Satriani and Petrucci are above him on that list. Proof? He doesn't come that high in metal guitar polls. But I still respect his first four albums enormously. Some great riffs and amazing solos.
Chris is an underrated guitarist
So is Yngwie
I always liked Chris' riffs and legato playing. Totally underrated in that regard.
And the winner is: the listener!!! 🤘🤘🤘🔝🔝🔝❤❤❤ Greetings from Italy!!! 😉
I like your thinking cheers from Australia.
@@rage9715 stay Metal!!! 🤘🤘🤘
This is a class comment. Hail 🤘🏻
The Winner is Paganini, both learned from the maestro’s music.
That Malmsteen held back from noodling all over Impelliteri's riffs, showing unprecedented reserve for almost 12 minutes is an unseen and unheard phenomenon!
Lol !
😂😂😂
Have you ever seen G3 or Generation Axe? He only plays as rehearsed unless it's like the talking in between songs/introductions he may throw in some noodling. When it's his show he can do whatever he wants but when playing with other legends he respects their space and spotlight.
Unless you were being sarcastic than yeah that's funny. Guess it would be the common meme.
@@Hilariumosis I believe that Yngwie is the absolute guitar god. I believe that no guitarist in the history of rock and metal guitar playing has had more impact on guitarists than Yngwie Malmsteen.
My comment was light-hearted and for laughs. I didn't think it would offend anybody, but this is the reality of the internet.
Also it is a fact that on his later albums at least, Yngwie does tend to overdo his noodling. It's his music and he has the absolute right to do whatever he pleases, but the listener has also the right to their opinion. Compare a song that grabs the attention of the listener and gratifies them with a great guitar solo after a great build up, to one where the guitarist noodles the whole time leaving no chance for a tension and release, climax, catharsis whatever you will.
Oh yes I have the G3 album with Satch, Vai and Yngwie and needless to say I enjoy Yngwie's parts the most, not that I do not enjoy the other two mind you!
I actually thought it could go either way though. lol
both guitarist are awesome but i choose impelliteri
largely 4 2 !
Man you can surely shred, the guitar👏👏👏
Yeahhhh ! Thanks mate !
@@TheSuffocater I agree you shred hard bro! Great technique. Tell me what kind of picks you use and strings? Great economy and hand control!
I love ´em both !!!
This not accurate, Malmsteen would have showed Impellitteri his mansion, Gold jewelry, Rolex and fleet of Ferrari’s then drop his guitar. Declaring victory! LOL
Considering he only has about 7 million bucks might be hard to do that
This guy Malmsteens
When YNGWIE hit the scene there really was nothing like it.
His older days before the car accident that fucked up his right hand , he was untouchable.
Lol.
@@XJT0428 I think I could do it for 7 mill.... transfer me the cash and I'll give it a go mate.
Very well done! Chris is a monster player and great song writer/producer and thanks for sharing the love for Impelliterri.
The riff of Queen In Love is absolutley fantastic and I'm a big fan of Malmsteen.. You've made my day ;)
Welcome !
Chris for me, not that there’s anything wrong with Yngwie there isn’t. Chris’s riffs & music speaks to me more! Both are super talented 🤘🏻
I’m a big Yngwie fan, but I must admit that the riffs of Kingdom of Light and Warrior from Chris are amazing.
Really talented twins! You two guys rock! 🤘🏻
Yeahhhh !
Yngwie Malmsteen has a tone and melodic interval that is very unique
Malmsteen hasn't done anything new that hasn't been done by Vivaldi 300+ years ago. Let that sink in.
@@LogioTek Well that goes for almost anyone before anyone. No one in our, our parents or our grandparents liftime was first if one care to do the research far enough back. Even amongst the unheard of in history that "first" can be traced. Not everything has been documented or properly documented and so we might never know depending on the case.
logiotek Vivaldi played electric guitars I guess
Seven V malmsteens tone is marvelous
@Seven V you're not very smart...
I can't stop imagining an actual collab now. Not a single riff I didn't vibe, headbanged or raised the horns to. You damn sure know how to pick them sir. And you nailed the tones! Bravo!
Yeahhhh ! Thanks mate !
So glad I subscribed! You are AWESOME! Know all of these tunes! Love it!
The riffs from Stand In Line sound a bit like Malmsteen, but are still so good. And hearing the I Am A Viking riff was like stepping into a time portal of nostalgia. Wow.
Very well done! That was quite enjoyable. Thank you!
Tanks man !! Welcome !
Impellitteri has an incredible alternated picking technique with too much presition. There is no comparison in terms of technique. Regarding the composer qualities I would chose impellitteri as well. Impellitteri's songs are adrenaline, passion and a lot of flamenco (Paco de Lucia) and Beethoven (just listen to the monlight sonata last part). +1 for Chris
He’s a second rate Yngwie copy cat . When people hear impelleteri 90 percent would say he’s a Yngwie ripoff . Don’t get me wrong , he’s good but malmsteen was the one to set the neo classical world on fire not impelleteri.
Fantastic, The last rif was awesome \m/ Great work dude
Yeah! Great music selection! I can't stop headbanging! Both are great!
Hell yeahhhhh ! Thanks man !
Awesome tone by the way! Perfect execution mate!
Great work! This was fun!
Thanks a lot dude !
I like how Yngwie looks accusingly at Chris when he starts playing Stand in Line
*Those are my riffs*
I actually thought it was an Yngwie song the first time I heard it.
Stener Gut Nice observation.
Little Savage
I feel you
@@jarrodchan Absolutely, that's why I a;ways mention when it cpmes up. it is a slower version of Little Savage outro. Also Impelliter's Leviathan is very much inspired by I Am A Viking
So impressive! This is for life! Thank you! Both! =)
Thanks mate !
Amazing Job brother! Great representation of both but Impellitteri’s Riffs kick ass! Stay(sic)
Impellitteri!!!!!!!
Congrats TheSuffocater !!! Amazing work 👊🇧🇷
Great channel dude! dig the side by side!
Very well played. Love your tone and style. I can see you are a very accomplished musician. Keep up the phenomenal work! I am fans of both and even met Yngwie at a record store long time ago.
Thanks for the kind words !
Use to go see Impelleteri play in a local bar, back in the mid-80's. He was in a band named Vice, with Rob Rock on vocals. Awesome, to say the least. Miss those days, but glad to see they made something of their careers.]
Subscribed... this is badass 🤘
Great playing and so funny! You have Malmsteen's mannerisms down pat! I'd love to see full versions of all these songs too. You make it look so effortless
Just have a look at my channel you will find several whole Yngwie covers !!
@@TheSuffocater I am definitely a new fan of what you do! Watching everything with great interest.
Echt geiles Video. Witzig, gute Riff-Auswahl und fett gezockt. Respekt, Tobias!
Vielen Dank !!! So etwas von einem Profi zu hören, freut mich natürlich besonders !
Amazing! Keep it up!
Both Malmsteen and Impellitteri are very underrated rhythm guitarists. Both have really good chord progressions. Great video!
Malmsteen sounds more melodic to me. Impellitteri with more heavy riffs. I like melodies better, so for me it's Malmsteen
Great video! These guys (Yngwie and Chris) are two of my all-time faves!!!!!
Great playing! Been a fan of Yngwie since 88 and a fan of Impellitteri since 94. Love them both!!
Your really great duder!
You make it look so easy... I had to watch twice I enjoyed this so much.
Thanks mate !
I've been trying to play dejavu since forever, still working on it. You played it spot on
Great video! My favorite part is the great playing with no talking!
I enjoy both as long as the guitar riffs are ever so powerful that I can say this's a damn great
Thsnks for the kind words !
Best yngwie tone on youtube.
Thanks a lot !
I don't know if I have ever heard a Fender even sound CLOSE to that before. If I listened to Malmsteen then I would have, obviously. But damn...That's some Hanneman or Hetfield shit right there.
Andrés Núñez.
Impellitteri . His work on the Phantom of the Opera cover is insane.
Your tone is awesome man!
Very good. Malmsteen's licks are so good for exercising, I'm going to check and use some of them for practice. Thanks for listing names of the songs, I'm not good at remembering names :)
Great Comparation!!
Suffucator,
I just discovered your channel and you a couple of days ago.
1. Dude, you play it all and you play it all amazingly accurate. I have seen and heard all these guys.
2. Live the whole "versus" concept.
3. What is your story? Your playing history and group history? You remind me of a professional guitar player who graduated from a premiar music school. I'd love to learn more about you.
Thanks man ! I startet playing guitar with 15 and had a band with my best friend on drums ( check my Emotional Suffocation video) .For a couple of years i concentrated on Yngwie stuff and started with youtube 10 years ago. I switched to some harder stuff like Slayer and some death and black metal , and do guitar covers , collab covers and battles. I am no professional and still learning. Thanks for your interest mate !
Wow great playing, inspiring as well…brilliant
Interesting comparison.. i highly respect both. Each have a unique tone with in there hands and a different attack within there hands. Great performance dude
Thanks a lot !
Amazing. 🙌
Duas lendas, sem chance de escolha pra mim... ótimo vídeo, sensacional.
Thanks much, dude, you are awesome in your own right
very cool video dude :) i realy enjoyed that
Thanks mate !
Beast! How did you obtain that Yngwie tone, what settings do you have and what Marshall amp bro?
I prefer Michael Romeo. All the talent and speed of Yngwie but with restraint and a serious knack for song writing. With that said, you absolutely tore it up with this video. Didn't expect this caliber of shred, but hey, color me surprised. Your picking technique is fantastic, and you absolutely nailed Yngwie's tone as well. I have to admit I'm not familiar with Impellitteri, but it's evident I have some catching up to do now. All the best, keep up the good work and never stop rocking man!
Thanks for the kind words , absolutely right about Michael Romeo ! Did two Symphony x covers some years ago !
yes me too
Shawn Lane...unmatched.
@@trismegistus7758 Shawn was great, he died too soon.
It's completely difference genre though.
Michael Romeo eats more dognuts than Yngwie. Seriously ... Yngwie was an innovator, Romeo was not and that's a huge difference.
I was expecting an inverted fifth in the Malmsteen section. That's actually where I first picked them up. Adds a nice... "odd" flavor to a riff. And Impellitteri? So underappreciated in the U.S.. Great post.
Thanks !
Hey, great videos - thx! Quick question: do you play the backing tracks also?
I didn't even know who Impelliteri was until I watched this video. Thank you for the introduction!
wow that picking hand is insane!
Thanks mate !
Amazing player Brother!
Thanks a lot mate !
You just earned yourself a subscriber.
Welcome !
a solo comparison would be cool too. good tone and well played.
Just the fact that they are comparing impellitteri to Malmsteen is great... with that being said Malmsteen is the Grandmaster, the Legend the Teacher and no one is going to take that away from him but in this case if we talking about now... I think the student surpass the teacher Impellitteri is playing in another level..respect to both 🔥🤘🔥
its like every body tries to compare to Yngwie. He set the bar, especially in that genre.
Great stuff, a lot of work goes into making this videos
Thanks man ! But its a lot of fun too !!
All I know is that they’re both way better than me lol! Great video!
Awesome!
So cool my friend, excellent
Thanks mate !
@@TheSuffocater I would be glad if you checked out my channel too
Yngwie is from another world! No guitarist should be compared to Yngwie. The greatest musician of modern times. Both guitarists are great masters, but Yngwie is at a very different, very high level. Also, congratulations, well done, you play perfectly bro!
Dude. Don't get me wrong, I love Yngwie, i trully do, but there are better guitarists out there, technically and musically.
There are these days for sure, look at a guy like Max Ostro who is just a kid but far more advanced and interesting to listen to compared to Malmsteen. But what cant be denied is Malmsteen was a revolutionary player for his time and he deserves his place in guitar playing history, even if he has become somewhat of a living meme today lol. I still LOVE his early stuff though, it was so much fresher and more focused @@JM-54321
@@JM-54321who ? It’s all subjective after a certain point .
Speechless bro
Your right hand technique are amazing Sir \m/
Muy bueno :D
Nice!
Who else heard Graham's voice in their head when he started playing stand in line?
At Malmsteen, each song has its own character, although with Impellitteri everything sounds very similar, but more technical differences and sophistication can be heard.
They are both 🎸 #Legends 🔥🤘
yngwie the best of neo classical guitarist!!!
Yes sir, he used to write great songs, no more unfortunately, Chris is great and insanely fast, but I like Yngwie's body of work better
@TheMetalGuy852 diffenetely..he is the master of neo classical also!!!
I like Vinnie Moore, more than YJM
yngwie has nothing on Uli Jon Roth.....
If only randy was still alive...
very great playing and montage ! i vote for malmsteen but i m impressed by impellitteri
Yngwie has more of a classical approach thus neo-classical, more unique. Chris has more of an "American" tone to his riffs.
I gotta go with Yngwie! Incredible job, Brother! 🤘🏻
amazing!
Jaw dropping riffs and tone! What did you use for that tone on both sides? I am seriously eyeing a USA Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster at Sam Ash right now....just need that check to clear....you've earned a subscriber! Make more please! \M/
'It's my riff! 'HAHAHAHA! Great video!
I’d put Impellitteri all day, my favorite guitar player ever. Yngwie is probably my second though.
Great job, Malmitterri! Don't know the songs of both, but this battle is fuckin awesome dude. See ya for a beer...
For sure !
Wow!GREAT!
Thanks bro' !!
I've never been able to listen to either one of these guys for more than one track at a time.
Both are awesome but Yngwie between 83/87 was unbeatable 🤘🤘🤘
You looks like Hetfield! haha! great performs man!
Both guitarists are huge, charismatic musicians. Now and forever. Thanks to the great Suffocater for this amazing "comparison"🔥
Great video and playing by the way! I hadn't heard much of Chris Impellitteri before watching this video. Been listening to 'Wicked Maiden' and 'Nature of the Beast' albums and completely blown away, nit just by Chris Impelliteri's playing, but Rob Rock's vocals! When is your album coming out Tobias?!
Beside Malmsteen's leads I really like his chord progressions and riffs!
Now you're just showing off! I love guitar but I don't think I will ever be able to play like you. At this point in my life instead of feeling jealous and sad that I can't play this well I just appreciate those who can. I have two beautiful guitars that I have fun with sometimes.
Great! !
Cris Impelliteri.
