Can't wait to see you react to Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey, The time signature/key changes, bittersweet melody to uplifting anthem chants & nonsense lyrics - all created for one LP and *never* performed again live! Most songwriters would kills for one of the melodies or hooks he practically throws away in this medley. Uncategorizable. Pure McCartney. Genius.
Dereck, Thanks so much for doing this song. I am so glad you liked it. It is so much fun . And by the way, I knew you would react to the end the way you did and it was smile worthy.
Gorgeous song. I'm glad you're so into it. And as others will have pointed out, all the vocals are all Paul and Linda McCartney. The man's range is amazing.
Really impressed that you reviewed the song in such a favourable manner I have known this song for almost 50 years, its nice to see it validated for its brilliance. Thanks for your in depth review
That deep voice is all Paul. He's got incredible range. ! Love your enthusiasm for my early childhood musical world back in the 60s. Paul's work in the 70s was really brilliant and under-rated in the past but gaining critical acclaim in recent years. If you like the orchestra in this you must listen to "Beautiful Night." The song is amazing and has about 2 dozen violins and all kinds of amazing horns. Cheers, Dereck!
BSOMC is a prime example of Paul paying homage to Brian Wilson's compositions on Pet Sounds. Ram On is another one. Regardless, it is a masterpiece all it's own. Brilliant.
Whomever is picking the McCartney songs for you is on point. Great choice and great reaction! In case no one has told you already, the only people singing on the track are Paul & Linda. That deep voice is Paul. I’d recommend the songs Another Day (beautiful harmonies), Too Many People (also from Ram), Beware My Love, & Daytime Nighttime Suffering.
What is funny it sounds like Paul because it is Paul. This is just a lack of hearing this musical genius over his entire career. He has so many wonderful voices.
A couple of McCartney deep cut recommendations I think you would appreciate, Every Night, Dear Friend, Little Lamb Dragonfly, Jennie Wren. You’ll love them!
The backing voice is, of course, also Paul. This song is a clear homage to The Beach Boys/Brian Wilson's melodic and harmonic writing style so I've always assumed the super low harmony you're talking about was almost meant to parody Mike love's voice who occasionally sang bass register stuff on Beach Boys records. It almost sounds like Paul's voice is artificially pitched down to get it at that register but I have no idea about that hah
You have to react to the song off this same album which was a really big hit called “Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey” which I personally think is one of his best. Also, a later song from Paul with Wings which is my favorite Paul song and was a response to critics and John Lennon who dismissed a lot of Paul’s music as too simple or sugary or too occupied with love. So, he wrote a song called “Silly Love Songs” which was not only a brilliant piece of pop perfection, but, also turned out to be probably his biggest hit, at least in the states and huge in UK too, but, I’m pretty sure Mull Of Kintyre was a bigger hit over there, but, “Silly Love Songs” was probably right behind it as most successful in UK.
John hit his peak in the Beatles. Paul’s peak was just beginning in the Beatles. His best decade was arguably the 70’s… SO much good music from him in both decades but Ram is a masterpiece in every way. My favorite Beatles album, lol.
Final songs on albums are rarely released as singles, if ever. BSOMC has that huge “last song on the album” energy that doesn’t translate well as a stand-alone single.
Great reactions and explanations as you went through this song and gave it attention. Big Suggestion: "Mull of Kintyre" - the vocals and epic instrumentation will blow you away.
As others have said, both Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey and Too Many People off of Ram are fantastic. If you want something similar but recent by him i'd recommend Despite Repeated Warnings from 2018's Egypt Station. Think you would love all of them.
He double tracked his own voice on the ‘ooohh-ooohs’. I love this album so much! Have you done Too Many People yet? My FAVORITE! Note: you say, ‘notice the build’ or this or that, and then you pause at crucial moments that destroy the moment. Oh, well. Your show bro.
what a surprise I got today Dereck generally when we propose a song we expect in some case the surprise of the reactor this time I was the one surprised I did not expect this song, I did not remember it, and with your reaction it took on new life in me (I'll have to review any memories of McCartney's first album hahaha) There is much to discover about Paul McCartney, the living legend of music I would suggest "Live and let Die" (if you have live, better) the classic "Band on the run" the duo "Venus and Mars / Rock show" (can also be live) the simple beauty "Silly love songs" and the excellent "Mull of Kintyre" you have good weekend a big greeting from Buenos Aires Argentina
nice , very nice !!!! love your comments !!!! Maybe i´m amazed ( live with Wings) !!! No more lonely nights ( the complete studio version with David Gilmour guitar) Band on the run ( masterpiece) Live and let die (james Bond movie theme) Tug of war ( hidden gem ) just to continue with Uncle Paul ( the best ever !!!! )
Excelente análisis, eres muy observador y sensible, además tienes un gran conocimiento musical. Ojalá analisis más canciones de Paul McCartney y los Beatles, vas a encontrar muchas obras maestras como esta.
I agree. I think this is what you said: Excellent analysis, you are very observant and sensitive, you also have great musical knowledge. Hopefully you review more songs by Paul McCartney and the Beatles, you will find many masterpieces like this.
Great reaction. It's a super song, and I guess elements are orgasmic. Haha. But, but, but I can't believe you paused just before the final crescendo. Even so, got to check out other songs of his to hear the full range of his voice. Linda may have done some backing vocals for this track but I would say 90% is him - he has such a range. Check out 'Because' (higher vocals are his), 'Helter Skelter', 'Monkberry Moon Delight', 'I Will', 'I'm Down', 'Golden Slumbers', 'Here, There and Everywhere' just to name a view.
I Honstly do not want to offend Lennon Fans , as I am one myself. However I have to say that Paul 's post Beatles works utterly crushed John Lennons. Even though I love JL's Beatles songs . the best. I just think Yoko Sucked most of JL's talent out of him. I don't think Paul let Linda suck out his brilliance. They seeemed to work better. JMHO. Please do not hate me for this opinion.
I love John, always will. But Paul’s solo career makes me grateful to be alive to experience it. So many songs that man wrote that have made me cry, laugh, excited me, inspired me to learn piano and bass, gave me hundreds of beautiful melodies to sing… he’s just awesome.
Hi guys, great reaction! I am a new Subscriber. Please please react to Joss Stone and Jeff Beck “I put a Spell on you “ ua-cam.com/video/bunNRu4mBbY/v-deo.html Joss has worked with all of the legends. She did her first album with Betty Wright when she was just 15. She sang at Aretha Franklin’s BET tribute, on the request of the Queen of Soul herself. She also shared the stage with the likes of: James Brown, Smoky Robinson, Al Green, Stevie Wonder, Patti La Belle, Blondie, John Legend and so many more. She is not well known because she left her label to do her own thing. Surprisingly she is only 30 years now. Please please react to her.
Please react to "Le chanteur or SOS d'un terrien en détresse -Daniel Balavoine" its French. Lyrics, the voice and instrumental are amazing and really deep, I'm sure you're gonna love it!! 🙏✨ (please people who agree, like this comment so he can see it)
It's a Let It Be session leftover. And completely overproduced. It's great one moment, and "WTF" the next and ok the next and so on. The problem with RAM is its total lack of self-restraint. The cover should have been Paul with several kitchen sinks.
The deep voice is Paul's. He has a fantastic range in his singing voice.
Genius.
Absolutely. Other solo greats by Paul include ANOTHER DAY, BAND ON THE RUN, SILLY LOVE SONGS. To name a few.
His best song is "coming up" or even "mull of kyntire"
Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey is in my top 5 favorite deeper cut McCartney solo songs. Along with Dear Boy, Tomorrow, Beautiful Night and Save Us.
"RAM" & "Band On The Run" are two of the best albums ever.
Ram is an artwork :D
Yes they are and they're not even my favorite albums from Paul, he's just unbelievable
Agreed
You have great taste in music
Agreed. I also love “Back to the Egg” and “Tug of War”
One of the best Finale for one of the best albums ever... A gift for us all to be in this world at the same time with Paul making music...
It's been candy to my ears for 57 years, The Beatles and Paul McCartney and WIngs and his solo stuff has been the music of my life
Paul, the vocal chameleon, is that voice in the background. He overdubbed his vocals boo! ❤
Paul did his backing vocals. I have a bootleg of The Beatles"'Let it Be" sessions. Paul was working on it then. It would have been a Beatles' classic.
It’s featured in the new documentary, Peter Jackson’s “Get Back”.
ua-cam.com/video/I_EMEf6EA20/v-deo.html
I adore Maybe I’m Amazed and Mull of Kintyre.
Yes!!!
@ (☞ ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)☞ Fantastic !
He was so vilified for the oohs and aahs back in the seventies by rock critics. Ram is now considered among the best.
Fact: By the moment, Paul McCartney has only performed a fragment of that song in one concert, precisely in Mexico City
Favorite album of all time.
Mine too.
Dereck, Thanks so much for doing this song. I am so glad you liked it. It is so much fun . And by the way, I knew you would react to the end the way you did and it was smile worthy.

One of his very best songs...I wish he would perform it live...

Great McCartney track. Have always loved this song. Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys has said this is one of his favorite songs. Great reaction.
Really?!? That's fantastic, because it's always reminded me of something off Pet Sounds.
BSOMC is a prime example of Paul paying homage to Brian Wilson's compositions on Pet Sounds. Ram On is another one. Regardless, it is a masterpiece all it's own. Brilliant.
@@jdc6681 Yes Jeff. Both Paul and Brian love each other's work and have a great respect for each other. I love them both, and love their work.
@@mgonzales56
Both born just two days apart!
James Paul McCartney: 18 June 1942
Brian Douglas Wilson: June 20, 1942
@@cremetangerine82 I didn’t know that, that’s awesome!
Paul’s voice - double tracked. Phenomenal range. The best voice in R&R
Letting Go, Beware my love, Call me back again, all of those Paul's 70 classic , vocal and bass are just genius.
I adore all those songs!
I've never heard this tune from Paul McCartney. Its nice.
Ram is a higher level production, just a great album
Production by Paul and Linda McCartney!
Yeah...brilliantly produced. Just amazing layer after layer of sound...best heard on a good set of cans, at night, in the dark.
the deep voice is paul too
What is funny it sounds like Paul because it is Paul. This is just a lack of hearing this musical genius over his entire career. He has so many wonderful voices.
@@rodneyhearne3405 Yep. He has at least three different voices just on Band on the Run. And more in London Town and Back to the Egg, lol.
Love him!!!❤️
RAM isn’t just one of my favourite McCartney albums, it’s one of my favourite albums, period !
It would have been amongst the best Beatles albums. Ram is brilliant.
Super music with Ram and Band on the run
There's an audio of Paul McCartney rehearsing this song with The Beatles. Should've been a Beatles hit. Cheers from the Past.
A couple of McCartney deep cut recommendations I think you would appreciate, Every Night, Dear Friend, Little Lamb Dragonfly, Jennie Wren. You’ll love them!
YES PLEASE react to those 4 songs, all different from each other!!
“Some People Never Know” is one of Paul’s most beautiful songs, I think he’d love it
My favorite McCartney solo song. Never gets old 💙
My favorite Macca album.
Really worth checking out is Paul's last LP "McCartney III" (2020), recorded all by himself during lockdown (rockdown!)
The backing voice is, of course, also Paul. “Silly Love Songs” is addicting… I play it all the time at work.
I think that "Paul McCartney - Fuh You" would surprise you.
I like the video. Everybody happy for his 1st time
Beautiful!
John hit his peak in the Beatles. Paul’s peak was just beginning in the Beatles. His best decade was arguably the 70’s… SO much good music from him in both decades but Ram is a masterpiece in every way. My favorite Beatles album, lol.
To a degree, but I do love John’s first two solo albums, and I do think he was getting it back by the final album
Loving your reactions. Regards from Mark, UK.
I am surprised this song didn't get a top 10 hit in 1971.
Final songs on albums are rarely released as singles, if ever. BSOMC has that huge “last song on the album” energy that doesn’t translate well as a stand-alone single.

There is much to discover about Paul McCartney, the living legend of music
I would suggest
"Live and let Die"
(if you have live, better)
the classic "Band on the run"
the duo "Venus and Mars / Rock show" (can also be live)
the simple beauty "Silly love songs"
and the excellent "Mull of Kintyre"

This song has some Hello Goodbye (with the Beatles) vibes.
