I worked with raptors, including vultures, for several years- they're absolutely amazing, personable creatures; there's so much more to them than Disney cartoons suggest!
I am doing volunteer work with raptors, as well as a turkey vulture. Our vulture has taught me how intelligent and playful vultures are. Knowing vultures it to love them.
This is crazy awesome! I only wish more people could see the awesome side of Vultures and what amazing creatures they can be, not just judge them by what they eat.
@sidremus I'm sorry sidremus but I don't understand. She didn't found a conservation program to go flying with the birds. The foundation was set up before she flew.
that must be an incredible experience!! vultures get a bad rep because ignorant ppl think they are gross, bacteria covered birds because they feed on dead meat, but that's not true at all..I was watching this show on vultures in Africa, where this guy actually smells a vulture and comments on how there was no nasty smell, they are not dirty creatures!
"...you look up and the sky is just covered with vultures." Lol. That sounds like a plague. I feel like this should be part of some epic, cataclysmic saga. It sounds like part of the eschaton.
@todd3293 So do you. Scavenger just don't kill the things they eat, predators do. And unless you're an avid hunter or farmer, I would think that you fall, more so, under the scavenger side of the coin. Just saying!
Holy crap, that's friggin' cool. If that was me, I'd be the tiniest little bit afraid that one of those "inquisitive vultures" would fly a little too close and foul up the lines connecting me to the parasail. But really? The risk is probably worth it.
Call me a cynic but I'm pretty sure she didn't fly with the vultures to "learn more about their behaviour." I'm pretty sure it was to have 'a personal spiritual experience', which had little to do with the birds except that they added atmosphere. The video was very beautiful though so thanks Rocketboom.
The 200 vultures that showed up were just waiting for the parachute to fail... Great video though! People need to work to conserve ALL species...not just the cute and cuddly ones!

"They fly with you!"
No they're just waiting for you to fall and die so they can scavenge your remains. This video is still pretty cool though.

Nope, it's in the Magaliesberg mountain range in South Africa, about 30 miles from Pretoria.
Flying with these big birds is really a great experience !!!
Fantastic! Greeting from Germany
So inspiring and beautiful.
This would be one of the times where 3D filming might actually be really beneficial. Not everyone will be able to experience such a thing.
So beautyful pictures. yes i got goosebumps.
@GmasterRED Vultures are actually nature's recyclers as they can digest many toxins that other animals cannot.
What camera was this shot with? Not so much the onboard cams but the ground cams?
Awesome shots. Much respect.

@w7100
You do understand there is a balance to our ecosystem and that every part of it plays a role in keeping that balance, right?
