Charles' face when he's holding Sazz's joints, covered in her ashes... oh man. The disbelief, the hurt, the total helplessness in his eyes. Steve absolutely nailed that mix of dark humor and heartbreak.
I have to say, this episode was phenomenal for me. Drama, tension, suspense. That whistling sound that just gave me chills and then the fact that Sazz was burned alive!? Already liking this more than season 3 and I already got my suspicions like Bakula or Bev
I think they are laying seeds to a bigger connected story all thru the seasons Loose ends from S1 - who poisoned olivers dog? Who wrote the note 'i m watch you ' on Jans door? Loose ends from S2 - who is taking pictures of Charles and her daughter Loose ends from S3 - sand bags and closet accidents with Charles I think answers to all these will connect to a bigger story of charles
Also when the trio was leaving the studio and Oliver said he’d like to stop somewhere first. Did y’all clock they went to In and Out Burger!?!? Yummy 😋! As a Floridan that brought a tear to my eye.
Loved the episode! Here's my thoughts: I believe 100 percent that the murder is connected to the movie. My theory is Sazz discovered something bad about the production itself or someone working on it, like the writer or 'identical' twins for example. I think we, and the trio, are expected to think Charles was the target, but Sazz was the real target all along. I liked Charles' concern for Sazz and the devastation he felt when finding that piece in the incinerator. That was a real gut-punch of a moment. Sazz's murder means more to the audience because we actually got to know her over the past 3 seasons, unlike say Tim Kono or Ben Gilroy. I predict as the season goes on, Charles will be feeling a lot of guilt over this, not helped by the fact that one of his few friends outside of the trio is gone. As for Mabel, I think she's going to become the new Cinda Canning. Maybe her deal with the studio/producer was that they help her set up her own production company. She'll start making more podcasts, like Howard's Working Dogs idea. I agree with you about the celebrity guests. A little of that could goes a long way, and I hope they use them sparingly. That said, I absolutely loved the appearance of Scott Bakula! I'm not even going to try to guess the killer. It's too early in the game and they need to introduce more suspects. But I have strange feelings about the writer and the Brothers sisters. I think they'll have bigger parts in this as things go on. Sorry about the long paragraph. I just had thoughts and wanted to get them out. Can't wait until the next episode.
Great premiere. So great when the trio's together bantering back and forth, and everyone gets to shine both comedically and in terms of character-building. While the hijinks of going to LA, being presented with this movie deal, and all the self-deprecating humor made the episode super fun, it's awesome how they still kept this air of tension around Sazz's demise. The last 5 or so minutes of this episode was INCREDIBLE. While there were a few chuckles here and there, I do appreciate that the tension didn't ease up as they follow the breadcrumbs to the heartbreaking discovery of what happened to Sazz. I'm fucking IN. Definitely one of those shows where I hate the weekly release model lol.
I’m hoping for Oliver and Loretta ending up together, they are cute and I know it isn’t a romance show but one of the main 3 deserves to end the show with love 💕
Your review of the first episode is spot-on. I don't think you missed any clues about the murder mystery--though I do think, series-wise, there may have been something you missed. Having Eva Longoria as the "alt-Mabel" may be another indication that the series journey for Mabel is to "mature." Eva telling Mabel that they cast her (an older actress) is because people feel it "creepy" that Mabel is with the two Older Guys, is a real JOLT to Mabel. And, addresses a Real Issue some fans of the show may have. So, this season we may see Mabel (again) seek to 'become" her own person. Mystery-wise, I want to point out that the movie "Once Upon a Time in the West" is a Revenge Movie. This fits in with Charles being the target for murder--and the possibility (as you point out) that Charles has done some Bad Things in the past; and someone wants to make him pay. One final twist: the "Killer" is Sazz. Sazz is out for Revenge against Charles. Not sure why. That's my Early Prediction--that i'm sure will change.

I love the episode. I’m not sure if it’s because I missed the characters and the cozy feeling they give me, or if it’s because of the dark ending, but I love it. However, to be honest, there are things that I don’t find realistic at all. Although similar things have happened before in the show, and I still love it. For instance, why would the murderer keep the victim’s phone? This also happened in Season 2, and I didn’t like it then either. You can track people by locating their phones, so it seems pretty stupid for the murderer to keep the victim’s phone and be texting people from it. Another thing I find unrealistic is the combination of being a sniper and then cleaning up the crime scene. If the murderer is a sniper, it implies they want to stay far from the crime scene. Therefore, it doesn’t make sense for a sniper to also go to the scene to remove the body and clean up. If you're going to clean up the scene, why not just go to the scene and kill the person directly? It seems like unnecessary extra effort to set up a shot from a distance and then go to the scene to handle the body, with the added risk of being seen. I love the show and the episode, but these two aspects are a bit annoying to me.

I assumed that maybe there are two people: a sniper to do the killing, and maybe someone who hired the sniper living in the Arconia who can access Charles' apartment and does the dirty work like cleaning the body (after all they'd have to know where the incinerator is, etc). As for the phone, maybe there was something incriminating on there, not sure can't really explain that one haha

Loved the Bakula appearance. Hope to see Theo and the other OGs pop up.
Mabel has been involved in all of the murders in some way. That’s why she saw the blood on the stove and had an “oh shit” look, but didn’t say anything. Call me crazy but that’s been my theory since episode one season one.

Like even if they go back and tie in Oliver’s heart attacks at least the first one as an attempt from Teddy. Omg! Cause if a movie is coming out which he would have heard of due to him being apart of producing plays etc, maybe an industry friend lets him know ahead of time, then he’ll panick of the eyes on him again but globally now. They got vindicated from murder but not grave robbing so he’s already tarnished but not at such an epic scale. This movie can ruin him further and he’s probably out for revenge finally. Remember he told Oliver he would eventually f*** him and he’ll never see it coming. I could only pray. This would catapult the show even more as my fav!!!!!!
The timing of Bev Melon and Sazz's texts is suss as heck to get them to LA. I loved seeing Eugene Levy & Zack Galifinakis. I worry that Loretta is a suspect.

I’m looking at Marshall a little bit. He said twice this episode that he’s a fly on the wall and towards the end of the show I believe it’s a fly that’s caught in the gun in Once Upon A Time In The West. But I also feel like that’s too close to season 2’s killer so idk 😅😂

Charles opened his locked door for a nightcap with his friends in tow? Who locked the door? Did Sazz have a spare key must have since the killer locked the door after the clean up. Or did Charles give Sazz a spare key on the night of her murder. It would explain Charles glasses on his night table and perhaps the kettle boiling.

I rewatched the scene and he does touch his face when he wakes up, and seems surprised that he isn't wearing them. But the tea on the stove was definitely his own doing. He's wearing his robe, and there's a sense of time has passed sine he woke up. I wonder if the killer planted a listening device in his home since he gets the text message leading them to LA right when they're discussing LA. And the killer uses the opportunity to get the window replaced. Loved this first episode, it was so well done.
Also what is the connection to “Once Upon a Time in the West” ??!!! I feel like this is sooo important but I’ve never seen the movie. What happens in the first 7 minutes that you can’t miss???
I actually don't know who the killer is yet; technically, this is the first episode, and the other previous first episodes from seasons 1 - 3 don't really show any clues or foreshadowing who the killer is normally

Mabel thinks it's suspicious and not agreeing to sign. I doubt the movie will be made as they have something to do with the death of Sazz

This was a great first episode and yeah this season does feels more cinamatic. The highlight of the episode for me was Martin Short, he was so funny throughout the episode with his life being on the line and his interactions with Zack Galafragalistic. lol
i loved this start of the season and your good point-outs. i was worried about the script writer too but, i believe it might be the one of the people in the studio that welcomed them and shake their hands. one of those people made this movie happen, so they can bring them to l.a. for some old grudge against charles. my hope is, it doesn't go downhill from there. but yet again, it was the first episode of the season. we gotta hope for a great season, right?!?🤞

I love the episode. I’m not sure if it’s because I missed the characters and the cozy feeling they give me, or if it’s because of the dark ending, but I love it.
However, to be honest, there are things that I don’t find realistic at all. Although similar things have happened before in the show, and I still love it.

i loved this start of the season and your good point-outs. i was worried about the script writer too but, i believe it might be the one of the people in the studio that welcomed them and shake their hands. one of those people made this movie happen, so they can bring them to l.a. for some old grudge against charles. my hope is, it doesn't go downhill from there. but yet again, it was the first episode of the season. we gotta hope for a great season, right?!?🤞

@@MovieFiles Not sure why Sazz would have X rays displayed. Then to see in the end parts in the X ray. Seems too obvious or devious. Something is off
@@cherin5892 Didn't Charles say that she had them displayed as like a badge of honor? She even has them labelled like plaques you would get after winning a reward. It's all vanity.
