Dr. Roth and I practiced American Kenpo in Pasadena, CA He was skilled and tough! He earned his Black belt while I was working on my Brown belt, we used to practice and spar together, it's weird beating on an elder but he could take it and dish it out very well. I could confide in Dr. Roth and he always had great wisdom and it helped me to understand on a higher level. I miss working out with him and having such a wise friend.

I still remember when Nathan was treating my macular degeneration on a regular basis. One time when I had an appointment for a check up his wife walked in with his newborn baby in a perambulator and he told me look this is my baby David back in 1954. Little did I know that that child would become a frontman for one of the worlds biggest rock bands.

My father and his cousin, who I always called Uncle Mark, grew up in the small town of New Castle, Ind. Uncle Mark lived in the Whittier, CA area. He had an appointment one day with his ophthalmologist. They began talking and discovered they both hailed from New Castle. I always appreciate that Uncle Mark, perhaps through Dr. Roth, got me an autographed cassette of David's album.

Nathan was a good, more than decent man and human being. Almost too good to be true at times. He had faults as we all do. He knows he seeks, he discovers or knows someone who knows who. All a combination of serendipity extending from hard work and discipline being true when accomplishing his goals, his vision(s) coming to fruition. Excellent, ophthalmologist, health-wise a classic and fun...there are/were so many positive categories he possesses as a man. I believe it takes more than a UA-cam post to recognize who this man is/was. Those who know him and worked with him observed his incredible talents in business, and they mattered. He'd tend realistically to his children's needs and reasonable requests. The world lost a good one, one of the best when Nate left us.

I know David babbles a lot and gets so far ahead of the conversation it's hard to keep up. I would imagine his closest friends just let him go off without much thought. Where I always discerned his intelligence was through his lyrics with Van Halen and the DLR albums. Very clever wording while sticking with themes the common listener could grasp. btw, I saw him with the DLR band for a New Year's Eve show at Universal Citywalk, Orlando in '05. He rocked and didn't need Eddie and Alex at all. Have a good day. I appreciate the shared interest in one of rock's most iconic stars.

All The Way album which was in my collection which now all was up on deck to get dumped......traded for jazz.......as it was a quality collection however........so since it was stash....the James Brown.......I did not play it for any house parties......because we had just seen Fishbone and Soundgarden and others......The Groove Collective The Brooklynn Funk Essentials Jamiroquai and White Zombie was big.....Ween Sublime Tool STP and BHS as the RHCP was dissipated as NIN was soon there......but it was all Seattle........from the bad glam rock of the mid to late 80's......the wall of glam sound which MTV intelligence(spies with USLE spies) supported and backed 100 percent.....as if they had a direct line to Leno for such(acting machoism to infinity as a macho act)......who played dumb to music however......much like Letterman would do.......over an above TV alluding to merely be "reading" Leno......based on the claim in notion by Leno himself.......that he was merely charting his own boat.....as TV Guide headline studying only........but my point is......only Bob Marley was to be played at the house party(and they could not beat me in a fight......so this came down to height and chicks and their desires.....over scholastics.....since I drank the most beer daily anyway and worked 20 hours a day).......only Bob Marley over and above being precarious with music at these events......because Prince was out with Michael Jackson 1 day after 1 year after "Thriller".........done......I do Prince's voice and MJ's voice as well.......and Fishbone and White Zombie and Ween and Tool and etc.......my point is that Seattle music was now going on 2 years ago........and that new Prince was coy and Maceo Parker was to be only personal stash with other car driving music.........because the new college brand of musician was now claiming to be better than Medeski Martin and Wood and etc......and those jazz writing type of players.......had ruled since the 1800's decade by decade.......and now may have not been as famous only since the 1970's KISS millionaire dreamer pathology came into view......as music writing rulers since the 1800's and etc.......BUT the music still came from them.......and them alone.......so instead of forwarding the James Brown or any of the rest of my collection........since when loaned out the new CD's came back scratched and sh.t........as if I couldn't knock them out difinatively.......in a mere 90 days at the gym back yet still........but........once again it was not Art Pepper.......or Blu Mitchell......or Jackie Mclean with Junko Onishi 1996.......so David can wear my golden or silver left-hand thumb ring(I had 4 diamond ear rings.....2 in each ear)......and he can call it his Jackie Mclean ring OK.......and I wear one other ring on my left hand.......on the ring finger I wear it up one.......silver or gold whatever........and he can call that his Sir Isaac Newton pirate ring to help him rap on UA-cam........and his left-hand wrist watch should be the next i5 only of course......outside of it being a distraction.......unless Robin Williams' children would be so gracious to forward David Robin's "best" wrist watch.......coolest and best looking.......less it also perhaos being his most expensive one.......yes as a gift.......for good luck as well.........but what I am saying is......as I do Cameo's voice and Flashlight all of the voices......and etc.....and all of the voices of the Commodores and Smokey Robison's Quiet Storm and Love Letters.......as my left index finger is none other than Ackmetzyanovs himself.......is that in the car.......this is why I only played Parliament Funkadelic and Earth Wind and Fire in 1995........ because I did not approve anything but Bob Marley at the house parties but had no posistion to even speak this much at all.......so I remained on steak and 9 to 12 beers 6 days a week......game over.......and it was an Oldsmobile.......like a 77'......4 door......silver.......heavy box car.......to sloop to one side in the driver seat......to lean into the door.....pants pulled up and comfortable to drive.......but slooped in the driver seat......ever since the convenience of the automatic transmission shift kit no shift kit.......

Dave's Father was not THAT much of a force in fact, I think he overstated just a little of his historical importance with the band. Read up on their history before you start slinging it.... Also NOTHING MATTERS unless you've got the TALENT and the SONGS, and I think that says enough as far as that band.

Funded from the start!! Do you know other bands had to still go to work while playing gig. Amps, guitars, drum (symbals), transportation, equipment, and everything else is very expensive. Oh, no problem, my dad has money. Not hating, but knowing that someone got where they with help of somebody takes away a lot of the glamour of fanship.

You are so mistaken. Dave's Dad was an amazing mentor to me while I was becoming the first Native Reserve woman to graduate from law school and the consultant for the National Juvenile Justice Project and Corporate Native Nations Diversity Financial growth programs that would facilitate Native Nations to succeed financially without compromising their cultural belief in the earth, the creator, and all of nature...............He told Dave, if you want to go to college, you can stay home and have a room, if you want to build a business, whether music, or business........you can stay home, and have a room. Dave did the rest on his own, with the other band members. Yes, they had parents who loved them, and supported them, but they made it on their own. But just as my parents, Dr. Roth encouraged his children to build their own dreams on their own.

Elizabeth Wiley Nice response! Its symptomatic of something that I see all over the place now, people tearing down the achievements of others based on financial success, either for that financially successful person and what they achieved, or in here where its mostly ripping the successful man's son, David Lee Roth, who I admit for sure has been an idiot for all the world to see at times, but also has achieved a lot himself, even if in 2015 he's being panned for not being able to sing worth a damn live anymore, he did make one heck of an achievement with the original Van Halen, come on how many people can match that? 1 in 10,000? 1 in a million? Plus, throw in some of the usual Jew hater comments, since of course "those Jews" all conspire against the rest of us 24/7, yeah that's all they do, sure.
I see this country as not being divided mostly into haves and have nots based much on race like it was for many years, but moving into a new era (and I admit we're not there quite yet, still a lot of racial tension, as well as those who profit from racial divides and who will stoke that fire for as long as they can) A new era where its going to be just about who gets out there and hustles their ass off and gets SOMETHING done, whether its fronting a mega rock band, being a surgeon, or maybe starting say a small roofing company where for the first 5 years you're working your ass off, putting in those 80, 90, 100+ HOURS A WEEK that so many small start up biz owners must put in or fail, even after 10 years maybe they're still doing a lot of hard physical labor, along with their ever growing crew and then finally after 20 years, they don't have to carry bundles of shingles up a ladder anymore and after 30 years they're RICH, just like Dr Roth was in this video and then these clowns can rip that guy/girl too, while instead of working their ass off on something good, they sit on their ass and whine about how someone who's dad had some money has it so easy. Sure, sit on your ass and let the rest of us support your ass as well as those kids you can't support either, let alone support yourself, crying like a little kid about everyone else!
I work and do business with people every day who are out there trying to make something happen, even in what's been a damn tough economy for nearly 10 years now and then I see the crybabies and its not divided by color or religion, its divided by who wants to make something of themselves (which isn't simply measured money wise either, simply being self sufficient and happy is a great life for most people and being rich money wise has NO connection to being happy.) Just quit holding the rest of us back who are out here trying to make a decent life for ourselves and who consider (in my case being male) fathering a kid to mean you have a rock solid obligation to support that kid yourself, not rely on everyone else for life. I'm nervous though, we have so many crying clowns out there now that its becoming too much of a burden on those of us who consider at least supporting yourself to be a key to inner happiness!

Joseph Messeri Good points, coming from GOOD FAMILY is whole different story from the concept (or insane concept) that if we let the GOOD GOVERNMENT fix everything for everyone, which of course never happens they just suck up everyone's money and freedom and waste it, give it to their friends if they're corrupt like many are, but that goes back to this sudden attempt by SOME to fool themselves into believing the endless failures of socialism weren't actual history. I guess the more that mess fades with time it doesn't seem quite as bad as it was for so many. The amazing differences between East and West Germany when the wall came down is a perfect example, you had on one side a very successful nation that had rebounded from being flattened in WWII, plus the psychological mess of having had the Nazis running things, it must've been a mess beyond belief. (NAZI=National SOCIALIST German Workers Party by the way) Yet, back when we were closer to a real capitilist country and not the oligarchy/massive government country we are now, it was our military that helped rebuild West Germany, along with the German people of course who have always been known for a strong work ethic and then on the other side you had East Germany where socialism and communism worked their wonderful magic so well they had build a wall, not to keep anyone out, to keep them IN! It was like a totalitarian time warp when that wall came down and yes, I traveled there both before AND after but was only able to see East Germany after it came down of course and by now it probably all looks much the same, but back then it was an amazing contrast.
Don't forget Lenny Kravitz! Father was Jewish, mother was African American and Christian, I think her family was from either the Bahamas or Jamaica but believe she was either born here or moved here as a very young girl and I know they did eventually divorce, but Lenny grew up in a strong and together family for most of his childhood and high school and I'm pretty sure had some connection with Slash too, high school friends or something like that.
