Found this hideous old lamp at a flea market. Figured I would paint it up with a Florida Gators orange-and-blue theme, maybe something for the man cave. However, I had a lot of frustration along the way, particularly trying to get the finish to turn out on the shade. By the end I never wanted to see it again.

😂😂😂 the most honest statement I ever heard! 😆🤣🤣 Great job. Next time use only one color ( candy apple) 👌
Any man with a blast cabinet is OK with me. Well done, sir.
Thanks for watching, Greg!
That is not an ugly lamp, it’s a cool lamp! Yup I would paint the outside part of the shade hunter green, the white inner part of the shade would been painted with white primer, followed by a good coat of glow in the dark paint followed by a coat of clear coat. Base of lamp hunter green & the stem would be black! Then would be an awesome lamp to use every day! 👍👍
True; you can't polish a turd, but you can roll it in glitter.
Circus peanut orange! No wonder people are complaining. Nice video
Wonderful it's so fresh and new and can be used for another 50 years thank you I enjoyed this video!😄👍🏼👏🏻👏🏻
Well done, its nice that there are people out there saveing old thing. Color is a personal choice.
I just subscribed because ,1. The title made me laugh out loud. 2. You have a sandblaster ( that’s my favorite part of these restoration videos)and 3. Your sense of humor is great. I look forward to more videos. Thank You 😊 for sharing.
I love it 😍😍😍
Beautiful job! Made a silk purse out of a sows ear........
Actually if you’d gone with a metallic finish with copper for the shade it would have looked like one of those expensive library desk lamps.
A green one.
Apt
Cool and minimalistic!..great job!
The turd came out nice, congrats!
I liked your work good job
black and metallic brass would look super nice on that lamp.
Looks great to me.
Fantastic job great colors thanks for sharing 🍺🍺👍👍👍👍👍
Put it on eBay, it's beautiful and so colorful, love the Orange!
I really appreciate the views and comments from everyone. I knew the choice of colors would not be popular. It will be rescued from the attic and proudly used. My future videos will include sounds, but no irritating music. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for nixing the music. 👍
Actually love the color choices. It's very mod, very cheerful. Trust your instincts; ultimately you are the one who has to like it!
I had one of those but it was black with gold pinstriping, looked real nice.
Каким красивым стал. Хорошая работа. Очень нравится старые светильники у них что-то необыкновенное. Спасибо за труд и за видик. 👍👍👍👍
I disagree with you. I think it is a cute little lamp!! You did an amazing job fixing it up!!
"Still ugly, but in a shinier way" - made me laugh 😀
Great job! I would rather see usable colors though cuz it's a cute lamp for the house. :)
Yeah it's still ugly!!!!!!
The color scheme made it that way!
I agree
Great job. (How to polish a turd: Wrap in oven-proof silicon to retain shape, leaving a small vent. Gently heat over a period of days until dry. Inject through vent plastic based clear adhesive and allow to set. After a sufficient length of drying time, release from mould, sand and polish. Display in suitable position or place in loft). Subscribed.
I think it's a cute lamp, not my choice of colors but painted for a team makes sense, good job!
Very well done!
You must be from Gainesville, Fl. or went to UF. Gator colors all day. Great job and I enjoyed watching you transform the ugly lamp.
awesome making it New ugly lamp turned it to make it pretty again cool powerful lamp👏👏👏👏👏👏 good job
Classic lamp needs classic color... 👍
I once worked for an automotive paint company and as a service weof course mixed automotive paints. We also had the ability to fill spray cans with that paint. I took it upon myself to add catalyst to those cans for special customers who understood they had to use the cans immediately or they would harden inside the can. It worked great. You might want to investigate this for your future projects
...и у моих родителей была такая же настольная лампа, только салатного цвета, молорик мастер здоровья тебе и удачи!!!
Nice restoration BUT.....it was supposed to be olive drab with copper pinstripes! :)
Hi bro 👋👋👋very good restoration lamp 👍👍👍and video cool 🤝🤝🤝
NICE JOB.
I'D PAINT THE FINIAL BLUE.
I just discovered your channel now. I'm always glad to find new restorers because I've about watched everything on youtube. You do good work and I like your sass. Also, I'm in love with powder coating so that's an automatic subscribe as well. I look forward to seeing the rest of your videos. I hope there are millions because I'm at the point of jonesing until someone I follow uploads a new one.
Thanks Tina. I learned a lot by watching others, and you develop your own style.
Colours are personal choice, but workmanship excellent. Brass is such a nice metal, once polished.
Yes; orange and blue -- never. Is it still a turd, however?
Nice work on this poor ugly duckling, but you did give something of a chance to shine again. Pun intended. Thanks for sharing this video.
That could be the coolest flying saucer.
Great video great job I have to say best place for it 😅
Orange, love it the color!
It looks pretty good, in spite of the Gator colors. 😆
I wouldn't mind having that lamp it's pretty you did a great job
I being The Grandson & son of electricions I have a.love lamps of all types indoor and outdoor so I say that the color of the lamp is the choice of yours & yours alone i would be proud to be the owner of the lamp you refinished ,😄😄😄😄
well, you got two choices One, you can get Florida Gator stickers and logo it up, or you can get GULF oil stickers and decorate it that way.....
A hubcap from a 50's car would make a perfect shade. Hmm, I do know how to wire lamps. Perhaps a trip to Hubcap Heaven this week.
Cute lamp before, if you kept it blue or maybe green it would have been a beautiful lamp. If you don't want to see it why not sale it on ebay? Nice restoration.
You had beautiful brass and you painted it?
Mod lamp, brought into today!
I think it's cute. Like Wall-E when he uses the garbage pail lid for a hat.
Cool
I would love to buy it! I would use it after a few coats of a different color. Let me know!
Actually, in its new colors, it would make a great Denver Broncos lamp!
Loved this… But, wish there had been sound. Coming from a Gator fan… this would be cute on a kid’s bedroom….
I'd have gone with either a chrome or a red for the color scheme, but otherwise quite well polished for a turd. :P
Well that lamp you call ugly is a valuable antique
Poor bulb! From a flea market to an attic. Do not do that! I liked it a lot. It would fit very well in my bedroom. You did a very nice job!
It's not bad, in spite of the colors. Bama fan here. Not a fan of orange and blue (Auburn's colors). Crimson would've been gorgeous, naturally.
I think this is a fantastic lamp. I would have painted it one color. Its unique. Leta
Powder coating looks okay
Great work, I would have gone with △⃒⃘ all on color myself but to each their own. would love to have some sound, just ambient noise of the restoration, nothing fancy. Good work!
Go Gators!!!
You said it! I own the forum Gatorchatter.com - check it out, Mike!
It would look best with a brass finish. The kind if lamp I'd like to get.
what kind of spraypaint? enamel? I'm restoring a really old gooseneck floor lamp with a steel dome shade, flexible neck like a mic stand topper and a friction raise/lover shaft. Must be MCM.
poor choice of colors, would have upgraded to a three -way bulb.
You urgently need a color adviser. Nothing is better when you covered it with kitschy colors.
maybe he's a Florida Gators fan
The point is that you took something that had been neglected and make it shiny again.
"Still ugly in a shinier way", lol.
A philosopher would say "Would one rather be in the Light of a working Ugly Lamp or the Darkness of a Pretty Lamp that doesn't work?""
An antique themed colour scheme would make it look wonderful eg oriental or maybe painted golden flowers on it or stencil it
Make the shade and lamp base brass....I bet it was beautiful at one time.
There's no sound? Oh well, the sand chamber is still so zen.
I appreciate you watching. My newest videos have sound, but no irritating music.
An all round decent resto! It came out well!
me encantan tus videos eres un genio un saludo desde España-------
Thank you much! And greetings to you from America!
Why didn't you restore the electric cord back to as it originally was?
I liked the old rusted original. Would have made a great workshop desk fixture.
How about having a yard sale for all the things that you don't want to keep and use the money to buy some future projects. Who knows there just might be someone out there who's in the market for a lamp.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Nice job though.
I would have bought the Finial, probably the most valuable part of the lamp. :)
It's not ugly except for the three-way color scheme! I would love to own it if it were classic color(s)!
You're way too critical of your own work. I really like the lamp. It turned out great. .. Excellent job.
I agree its a themed lamp. All caves do not have to color coordinated. Items that are functional and represent your teams should be welcome problematic or not.
I like the look and style of the lamp but not the colour choice would have gone with a matalic copper or brass affect.
Still good job and nice to see that it wasen't just thrown out.
Made to match you OMJ logo?
nice 1
Broncos or Fighting Illini fan?
Sell it on Ebay?
It isn`t ugly at all; but your choice of colour... OMG, you really hate it!
Anyway, well done!
You can still buy an identical, shiny, new lamp socket pretty cheap.
Does the wife or kids like the color? Is all that matters. My question is, how much over spray got on the car with the nice rims?
Ola mestre, me inscrivi no teu canal, gostei das cores, ficou bem destacadas e o processo de pintura perfeito, digna de mestre de restauração. sobre o som, poderia deixar o som ambiente, mas fora isto, esta perfeita, parabéns!.... abracos;
I am kinda partial to the latter vs the present lamp.
That's a FC Cincinnati themed lamp. 😁
It is an ugly lamp but I like your work so I subscribed to you
That is a beautiful lamp, and a great job of restoration, but the color scheme you chose is hideous.
Rock chalk Jayhawk.
It's a shame you didn't take a hint from the shape of the lamp give it an antique brass finish. That would have made a lovely "vintage" brass lamp. You completely missed the target, for get about the bulls eye, on this one.
You must be a hoot at parties. Thanks for watching!
It would be nice to have some sound.
It's not so ugly now.
Poor little lamp. Long life and still kicking
