- In this long video, I travel up into Pennslyvania with Mike to meet up with our friends Jill, Billie Jean, and others to metal-detect an old farm. This is Jill's permission and in the past few visits to the site she had discovered, with her metal detector, several really nice Civil War-era relics including a silver quarter, Maine State Militia button, and U.S. bit boss as well as many more coins and other artifacts. On this trip, she takes the finds up a notch.
About Aquachigger:
I enjoy metal detecting for historical items like gold coins, relics, silver coins, and other buried treasures. I also metal detect for gold and silver nuggets and even meteorites. I like to make videos that promote my choice of lifestyle that includes outdoor adventure,
metal detecting, yapping, searching for river treasure, SCUBA diving, exploring abandoned places, hiking, caving, caring for animals and pets, and observing the things outdoors that often go unnoticed by most people who are not familiar with outdoor adventures and nature. I keep my UA-cam "Aquachigger" channel family-friendly and hope you subscribe if you like my style.
BTW, you can also catch me here, / chiggsarmy ,but I may get a little edgier there. FB isn't a place for kids anyway...lol.

This was a fun day of metal detecting. We found a ton of neat artifacts including many silver coins. The artifact that Jill finds at 7:07 is A Civil War-era wreath portion of a two-piece sword belt rig. She did not find the tongue portion that would have allowed for the identification of the exact rig she found. It could be one of many types to include either Federal, State or Confederate issue. It is a wonderful find and I hope the other half turns up one day. Neither Jill nor Billie Jean has UA-cam channels, but you can check out Mike's UA-cam here:.www.youtube.com/@gr8finds196/videos
As soon as you uploaded details, I was seconds away from the 7:07 mark and you ruined the surprise!!!! 😒
Sorry about that. I wanted to make sure people knew what the relic was. I forgot to get a pic of it at the end of the day.
You've probably answered this before, but why do you often not wear gloves? I'm always worried you're going to slice your fingers off!
Mother says “wear your Kevlar 🧤 gloves “ while digging in the dirt ! 😁 Also Chigg it was a cold day where was your scarf 🧣
@@aguadigger LOL. Well Mother was right because you regularly slice open your fingers haha!
"purple haze" got a guffaw out of me. Great hunt chigg!
Thanks for spending the day with us. That was a great day!
Good afternoon from Syracuse NY everyone thank you for sharing your adventures
I'm 40 miles south of Syracuse also and agree Chigg is the best.
9:44 flip-top table latch. Great vid, Beau!
Amazing how even the aquachigger has not exhausted the ground of artifacts Kool!

Always an awesome video!
Hello from Oklahoma Mr Chigg, thanks for the adventure! Oklahoma Rob

Great day for the chigger and fines are awesome 👍🙏
Thanks 👍
Great vid, with some really cool finds. Like the old lock 🗝
Nice to see someone have a good day, my afternoon hunt was chopped up cans and dropped fish hooks a bunch of them , oh well there are other days.
man that looks fun. keep it up.
Love my Chigg vids! Greetings from Wales.
The Chig is double super extra happy in the video
The brass cap you found is the tip for a drop heel buggy shaft. When the horse was removed from the carriage the tip of the buggy shaft was on the ground, a brass cap was on the tip to protect the shaft from wear'. It is not part of a buggy break.
Thanks professor.
you crack me up...soooo funny and very informative.
Cool stuff! That old lock was some craftsmanship for sure. Enjoyed
Thats a great video. Good day of hunting
Fun hunt! Nice finds!
We think that disc might say from right to left reversed "POST SCRIPT"☺️ It might be the plate off of a stamp. Luvin the Hunt, great finds👍😎✌️
Good video mr chigg thanks for sharing 👍
Soooo my wife and I were detecting around my families 140 year old house . And got a major hit right next to the 80-100 year old Ponderosa pine just to the side of the house. So we dig, and find a root about 8” in diameter . The signal is directly under it !! WE’RE ON IT !!! We start working around ,and under the root when WHACK! Ooops I hit it. It’s Cast iron ,and wedged tight under the root. An iron lock box full of GOOOOLDD ?? A canon ball ? WOOHOO!! So I dig next to it 8”-10”-14” it just keeps going. Time to dig the other side. Down ,and down ,and down some more !!!🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
We found an 8-10” Iron riser pipe for an old septic tank !!!!
Oh well , maybe next time .. 😂😂😂
lol... we have all had those finds. It's exciting though!
@@aquachigger yes it was. Little bit stinky, but I think that was a land mine left by a puppy dog nearby.
hello nice video as usual. It is called a nib on a fountain pen. You are absolutly right.
Great finds
37:55 Has Some Thing To Do With a Coin From The Look On One Side Of It. Cool Hunt. 😎👍✌.
Gratz on the silver
You should know that you have found two buggy breaks. They would be attached to the ends of the wooden arms that go on either side of the horse. When they would uncouple the horse these arms would contact the ground and needed to be protected.
Love your channel- Big Fan
Thanks for the info.
Seriously cool finds!
Love a nice long video! Thanks for the upload 💙
Great video! 😮 love te finds!
As always you take us along on another great adventure 👍thank you
Well that was a great adventure chig lots of neat items that last picture where you asked what do you think it is looks to me like someone tried to counterfeit a coin the writing is backwards but looks like states on top and America on bottom could be a cast counterfeit or someone just tried hammering a piece of copper onto the original coin and the indention you see is the original coins rim. Yes? No? Anywho thanks for sharing see you on the next one 👍🏼👊🏼
I think you are on to something there. I can definitely see the writing.
@@aquachigger did you figure out what it was made of? Copper? And thanks for the reply 👍🏼👊🏼
Very interesting finds👍🙂
Nice old treasures.
Great video Chigg! Cool finds!
The things you were calling drags, i believe are buggy brakes. Great job on the sweet coins.
Awesome finds mate, that big brass handle looks like a safe handle to me, me and a mate found an old safe once whilst exploring abandoned buildings here in the uk and the handle looks very similar. I could be wrong though
I think the knob you found is part of a harrow. My dad had one that had metal prongs. Great video. Of course, all of yours are.
Thanks for the info
I just ordered my Garrett AT Max and should have it by Friday for the weekend to start learning it from what I've been using .... really enjoy learning from your videos my friend
TOY BANG BANGS - Brother points in sister's face, sister grabs barrel, snap! Out the window it goes🤔
👍🤠✌🇦🇺
Lots of good relics on your hunt. You are correct, the so called "flag pole" tips are indeed horse buggy arm tips. They are always flat on one side because each time the horse is unhooked from the buggy, the arms sit on the ground until the buggy is used again. Good hunting.
A Chig upload day is a good day.
Nice haul today Chigg.
Thanks 👍
Had to laugh when you corrected yourself and said "Dudette"! It's an easy slip but nice to see there are more females detecting. You are always great at sharing your knowledge and I've never seen you really show jealousy when someone discovers a treasure in ground you've already covered. Another good (but cold) day of detecting!
Hey Uncle Chiggles ! Good vid. It'll be river time before you know it.
You got that right!
A buggy pole was used as a brake. They would drag it on the ground.
Domed object with small holes, most likely a sprinkler head.
Way to go, Chigg
Judging by the age of items found here, that two piece buckle could have been from a police two piece buckle. They were around mid 1800's to early 1900's. Maybe even later. Although you said that a Maine button was found? who knows. But you got some silver so it was a good day!
Aloha Chigg, Just noticed the similarity between the Roman coin from a dig in England about a year ago to the one yesterday. Both about the same size. Both have a nick on the edge about the same size.
I once dug at a archeological dig in MD. A home from early 1800s but a mud slide brought trash from a slightly more modern home 1900s trash to get mixed into the earlier home. So we saw some tin toy parts , wheels and some doll faces in with pot handles and spoons 🥄 from 1800s.
In the area of MN where I grew up, we were paid a very small bounty (25¢/pair ft) to catch pocket gophers. They were just as dangerous as the ground hog holes to horses and cattle.
Aloha Chigg, appears to be hand hammer stamped foreign coin. Old. Latin based script. Maybe even something like Roman era. Professionally clean and see if you can decipher. Let us know! Maybe dropped on way to Grand Canyon!
Dapper Dan!! Can .. 😆 🤣
It would be weird seeing the Chigg hunting tot lots and public parks.
The " Drag" is a buggy break . It would drag on the Steele rims. Quite often they have a wear mark on the narrow end
That makes sense. I have several that are very worn. Thanks
16:40 is a reed to a musical instrument. Probably a squeezebox
Buggy Shaft is the brass thing
Nib is the right word for the writing end of a pen ...
Cant wait for more videos. More
This is the perfect format for the UA-cam drinking game every time he repeat something you have to take a shot
You have to say something 3 times for people to hear it. 3 times. To hear it. 3.
nib . great scrabble word . use it all the time
I'm learning a lot from your videos. Thank you. I'm curious what do you do with all the little brass buckles you find? I'm extremely new to metal detecting. Thanks for sharing your finds and your knowledge! :)
20:22 part of buckle!?left bottom corner beau!!!; )
Chigg if you're not going to wear gloves, learning to suture deep wounds might be beneficial to you. That dirty, rusty razor blade could have ruined your trip. Please be careful out there. Great video. ✌️
Nice "DIME TIME" you got there towards the end.
I don't think I have ever needed sutures for a cut from digging, but I do keep good tape nearby and have used it on occasion. I love the feel of earth in my hands. I'm not covering up unless I must.
The 21 mercury has some value
2:07 oh yeah these are definitely dinosaur foot prints
COME ON CHIGG, I want to see the GOLD !!!
Yeah you know there’s that one thing that makes your day Chigg in that field lay in there don’t give up so fast you’ll skip over it
Just metal detected for the first time yesterday at Myrtle beach! Sadly didn’t find anything I would do anything to go to a civil war site
Chig you're right they are called Knobs and the part that you hold is the Quill .
Knibs
Thanks
Nib
Those brass cup end that look like part of a flagstaff is called a buggy brake i believe.
25:15 three legger huh Beau!
I love crotal bells.i dno y...and my dad's camp is found half of one in five min...sux it's a good spot but thick brush..it's old and good bit hard to hunt..and it's a deer camp so between deer and beer nobody wants me to go dig unless they dig
It don't exited them till Shiney stuff comes up
'The find at 10:10 ... could it be the mount for the bell housing that you found (early wooden wall style telephones)?
The last thing that you show and ask what it is . I believe it says warranted guaranteed and it's a Saw medallion?
REF INK BOTTLE AND PENS NIBB MIDDLE AGES QUILL FETHER NORMALLY WHING MAIN OR BIGGER ONES , ALWAYS ENJOY A FULL SET OF LEARNING SKILLS.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Sounded like Chigg but he was wearing gloves. Surely this is an imposter.
Lol,purple haze mushroom cloud..
Aren't those "Drags" Buggy brakes?
Could the pipe you found lead to a cistern and the series of holes lead to the leaking top of the cistern?
Possible for sure.
Purple puff haze. 😂
Found my first bullets. Three .32 caliber black powder cartridge ones.
Congrat's! Keep at it.
Keep searching for Kenny!!!
I think you found the burn pile 😂
A lot of people walking around in tge 1800s without belt buckles.... lol 😂 😆
Fiona said that last relic was an old little Cesar lid
Not the safest gloves for digging metal, but at least they gave you some warmth!
It was soooo cold the first hour or two. I needed warm and fuzzies.
@@aquachigger You can get some protective gloves to fit over your warm and fuzzies.
